The Gal Game Heroines Who Avoided Death – Chapter 16

Sano’s Side & Entrance Ceremony

I, Yuto Sano, have four destined partners—

It’s a chuunibyou thought that would be laughed off as ridiculous, but I’ve vaguely felt it since I was a child.

Even though I don’t know their faces or names, I feel like I know everything—

That feeling started to manifest in reality little by little after I met my childhood friend, Sakurazuki.

When I was in elementary school, I would inexplicably see a phantom image of Sakurazuki as a high schooler.

Her short, pink hair would grow into beautiful long hair that fluttered like cherry blossoms, and she would look at me with a smile that could captivate anyone. And above all, her curvaceous body made my young heart feel that this woman was the ultimate woman.

And that was the moment when the first of my destined partners, who had been shrouded in mist within me, was determined.

I must never let her go—a survival instinct akin to a compulsion drove me.

And the gears of fate began to turn when I entered high school.

Kitagawa Reon, Shuna Nanjo, Shino Shinonome—it was the moment when all the destined women were gathered.

In my first year of high school, I began to move to obtain all of these women, but even though I moved directly, those women trampled on my good intentions.

Since it couldn’t be helped, I decided to deal with Sakurazuki. It’s not that one who chases two hares will catch none, but first, I’ll make Sakurazuki mine. I thought I’d think about it after that. She said something about becoming a gravure idol, but honestly, I felt like she could do whatever she wanted.

If she wants to do it, she can do it. It’s not something to be bound by.

Besides, I had a hunch that a turning point would come in my ‘second year of high school.’

And then, when I entered my second year and tried to develop my relationship with the four of them, there was no change at all. My good intentions were trampled on again. Even now, when I think about that time, I get angry.

“…Come to think of it, there was a mob trying to get along with the four of them, wasn’t there?”

It was comical how he was forgotten the next day. Unfortunately, I don’t remember his face, but remembering that pathetic figure makes me feel a little better.

I think the relationship with them changed when the four of them started to be called the “Four Beauties.”

And for some reason, my favorability rating from the “Four Beauties” increased, and they started talking to me more favorably. There were strange things like being thanked for things I didn’t remember doing, and large sums of money being deposited into my account, but I was convinced.

This world revolves around me—

And God is trying to connect me with the “Four Beauties.” And I realized that my proxy was raising my favorability rating. Furthermore, he was creating situations that were convenient for me. That prediction was correct, and without doing anything in particular, I had brought down all of the “Four Beauties” by the time I was a third-year.

By the way, I call that proxy “Santa Claus.”

I don’t know his appearance or voice, but I think I gave him a fitting name.

However, there was only one problem. The “Four Beauties” were all on bad terms. It was an expression of their possessiveness, wanting to monopolize me, but it was a pain in the ass.

I would just brush off any consultations or heavy talks and leave the rest to “Santa Claus.”

“And yet, he’s useless when it really matters.”

The reason I ‘postponed’ the confessions from the “Four Beauties” was that I thought I was giving them time to become friends.

If there was time until graduation, they would normally become friends, right? Even if it was impossible for just the “Four Beauties,” I thought “Santa Claus” would somehow manage.

But when graduation came, Sakurazuki was still saying things like, “Choose one of us.” I was disgusted with Sakurazuki for not understanding my intentions even after giving her so much time. I thought I would directly teach Sakurazuki and the others the good points of the heroines, so I proposed to become sex friends, but she turned her back on me in the middle of the conversation.

I was dumbfounded because I never thought I would be rejected, but I immediately tried to chase after her. But then, a student from our high school was hit by a car in front of Sakurazuki, and I couldn’t do anything about it.

“If you’re going to have an accident, don’t cause me trouble…”

It was an unnecessary thing to do, but it was certain that I would be going to the same university as all of the “Four Beauties.” It would only be a matter of time before I brought down all four of them.

However, there was something that bothered me.

“Reon, don’t send me pointless messages… seriously.”

I thought she had accepted my proposal, and I was looking forward to it, but all she did was confirm trivial things. Normally, I would have nodded and agreed with her, but I wanted to finish the game quickly, so I told her the truth.

After all, “Santa Claus” will take care of it, right?

“But it’s strange that she hasn’t even read my messages…”

While I was thinking that, the entrance ceremony finally arrived. Since I hadn’t heard from the four of them at all since that day, I contacted them, but they didn’t even read my messages.

I had no choice but to go to the university with Sakurazuki, so I went to pick her up at her house, but no one was there.

A pale blue sky spread out, and cherry blossoms danced in the gentle breeze. The entrance ceremony was the fifth one, counting from kindergarten. There was no special meaning to that number, but Sakurazuki had always been by my side.

“I wonder what those guys are doing…”

The entrance ceremony for the College of Liberal Arts is held for each department. It’s held at the Centennial Memorial Hall of the College of Liberal Arts. Either way, I wouldn’t be able to attend the entrance ceremony with the four of them, so if you say that’s all there is to it, then that’s all there is to it, but it’s somehow unsatisfying.

I entered the memorial hall and opened the large door to find a spacious area. The stepped hall had a unique structure that gave it depth and movement. There was a stage in the center, and it looked like an audience seating area. Coming to a place like this made me feel like I had really become a university student.

When I entered, I was instructed to fill the seats from the front, so I sat down. Looking around, I saw new students who were being worn by their suits chatting with their classmates next to them.

Should I make friends within the department while I have the chance? I didn’t have any real friends in high school.

Because I was surrounded by the “Four Beauties,” I was the target of jealousy from the same sex. Because of that, I didn’t have any friends. There’s nothing uglier than the jealousy of people who aren’t popular, so it was actually good that I was able to get rid of those kinds of people.

Fortunately, the College of Liberal Arts is a university that you can’t get into unless you’re in the top ranks of my high school. There should be people who can learn with me on equal footing.

For now, should I talk to the gloomy-looking guy with glasses next to me?

“Please! Let me attend the entrance ceremony alone!”

A plea that sounded like a scream echoed through the hall. Since it was a place where concerts and choirs were also held, the sound reverberated.

“No way, you can’t be alone in a wheelchair. You can’t move around without us, especially since your right hand is impaired.”

“No, it’s okay… If it’s just moving around the school building, it’s fully barrier-free, so it’s not that inconvenient, and if it’s too hard, I’ll ask the staff…”

“Hey… Why do you say you’ll rely on the staff instead of us? Why? Have we become unnecessary? If there’s anything we’re lacking, we’ll fix it, so don’t throw us away—”

“Ah! That’s not it! It’s just that if I’m with you beautiful women, I’ll stand out like crazy! I want to have a peaceful and quiet campus life.”

“…So, we’re not in Satoshi-kun’s vision of campus life. Hey, everyone. I saw on the bulletin board earlier that there’s a place called ‘Blood Washing Pond.’ It looks like a good place to jump in, doesn’t it?”

“So don’t fall into the darkness so easily! Okay, okay! Stay with me until you’re satisfied!”

“Don’t push yourself. Come on, let’s go.”

“Wait a minute! Um, I realized that I’m a shy person and I didn’t have any friends for three years, so it’s impossible for me to talk to the staff! I’ll be in trouble if you guys, who I’m used to being with, aren’t around!”

“…Really?”

“It’s not a lie! Look me in the eyes. Do I look like I’m lying?”

“…Certainly, Satoshi-kun doesn’t have any friends… Sorry, I jumped to conclusions…”

“Huh? Is that what it is!?”

He didn’t seem to notice, but a man’s voice echoed through the hall. Unfortunately, the fact that he was a loner was known throughout the department, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. However, he seemed to be talking to someone, but I couldn’t hear the other voice. Honestly, I’m not interested. More importantly, I should see if the person next to me is suitable to be my friend.

…Or so I thought, but he was facing backwards. When I looked closely, I saw that other students were also facing backwards. I followed their gaze and saw four female students clinging to a man in a wheelchair near the entrance of the hall.

…It was a frustrating sight. I’m usually the one who creates a harem, so I didn’t feel it much, but when I see someone I don’t know doing it, it’s quite frustrating. I’ll try to be mindful of the TPO when I’m flirting from now on.

I’m not just some mob, so I turned back towards the stage. However—
“Get away, Sakurazuki! Reon and Akina, you’re too close! And Shino, stop burying your face in my lap!”

I reflexively turned around at those names, and a scene that shouldn’t have been there unfolded before my eyes.

“Huh…?”

My “Four Beauties” were diligently taking care of a strange, wheelchair-bound loner.

The four of them were leaning into his words, laughing as if they were having the time of their lives. My heart skipped a beat.

Stop it—

I reflexively stood up, about to rush over, but the hall went dark. The Entrance Ceremony was starting, and I couldn’t afford to screw up like that guy and turn my campus life gray. I reluctantly sat back down, but my fist was clenched unconsciously, my nails digging into my palm.

“What… is going on?”

They didn’t respond to my messages, they were gone the entire spring break—

More than anything, who the hell is that guy?

“Hey, move it!”

“Whoa!”

As soon as the Entrance Ceremony ended, I couldn’t stay still and immediately ran to the back of the hall. But they were already gone. I roughly opened the door to the hall’s exit and went outside the memorial hall.

“Damn it… where did they go?”

There was no sign of them.

“That’s right! My phone…!”

I should have my phone with me. I shoved my hands into both pockets, and my phone got caught in my pocket, but I forcefully pulled it out.

“Sakurazuki… no signal…? Akina didn’t have a phone… what about Reon? Shino?! What the hell is going on, damn it!”

I kicked the trash can next to the vending machine, and plastic bottles spilled out.

“This is when Santa Claus should be showing up! Why aren’t you here when I need you most!”

I tried to calm myself by taking a deep breath, but it was counterproductive. With each inhale, all that swelled in my chest was impatience and anger towards the unknown existence.

“What the hell is going on!”

There was no answer. Only a hollow echo.

“Faaah, that was boring~”

“Fufu, ceremonies are like that, you know.”

Then you didn’t have to come…

If I said that, I’d fall into darkness, so I grumbled in my heart, never saying it out loud.

Even so, remembering the Entrance Ceremony from earlier, I’m really starting to dread going to school starting tomorrow. I just want some time alone, but why do I have to go through such a terrible experience?

After calming Sakurazuki and the others, when I looked at it calmly, I noticed that the new students of the same year were all looking at me at once. Their gazes were filled with pity and jealousy towards me for being clung to by the “Four Beauties.” That’s when I grasped my current situation.

In other words, I’ve been labeled as the worst kind of scum, a guy who makes beautiful girls who claim to be loners in high school cry.

My campus life is over…

At the very least, it’s a negative start. I wanted to participate in the meals and hangouts that would probably happen after the Entrance Ceremony to redeem myself, but with my body like this, it would make them worry, and more than anything, the four behind me were scary.

“Ugh, here come the meet-up creeps… We’re busy taking care of Satoshi-kun, so we’re not interested… How did they even get our contact information?”

“Haa… Same here. I don’t want any horny monkeys… “

As expected of Sakurazuki and Reon. Akina and Shino also had unpleasant expressions as they looked at their phones. Especially Akina, who just got her first smartphone, was already thinking of throwing it away.

It’s supposed to be a celebratory occasion, but it’s all dark talk. This flow isn’t good, so I decided to make a suggestion.

“Well, well, let’s put that aside, why don’t we have a welcome party at my place? We can order takeout or something.”

When I say “my place,” the four of them moved in next to my apartment. It’s quite the coincidence that four rooms next to mine were vacant.

Then, their faces brightened up.

“That’s a great idea! Let’s do it!”

“Then, shall we bring something from home?”

“If we eat that every day, our tongues will go crazy…”

“That’s right~ Let’s do something normal like college students with our own pocket money~”

“Akina’s right. It might be more like a college student experience if we split the bill and each put in some money, right?”

“That’s true. I’ve always wanted to try ‘splitting the bill,’ so this is perfect.”

“That’s what you wanted to do…”

Shino is excited, but as expected, rich people have a different sense of things.

Well, the dark mood has been blown away, so I guess it’s fine.

By the way, where did my Diary go?

It wasn’t in my room either…

Looking at the boring greetings from the president, the dean, and the bigwigs from the back, it seems like about half the students are listening seriously.

Satoshi-kun was listening seriously, and we were peeking at his face without him noticing.

I think that’s very admirable—

“Fufu.”

In the silence and darkness, four small lights suddenly floated up.

[Four Directions Group]

Akina
‘I hate it~ That scum found us~’

Shino
‘Indeed… I feel like going home to Satoshi-san’s place and crying…’

Sakurazuki
‘More importantly, did you see that face?’

Reon
‘Fufufu, Sakurazuki, stop it (lol). It’s hard to hold back my laughter when I remember it (lol)’

Shino
‘Indeed www’

Akina
‘I find it disgusting though~ How long does he think we belong to him~?’

Sakurazuki
‘Akina, hold back your murderous intent… The wheelchair is screaming, you know?’

Akina
‘Ah, sorry~’

Shino
‘Shall we get to the main topic soon? The fact that it’s been discovered that we’re with Satoshi-san means…’

Reon
‘First, without a doubt, he’ll try to contact Satoshi…’

Akina
‘Let’s try to be with him as much as possible~ Fortunately, Satoshi-kun’s faculty is huge, so it’s unlikely we’ll be noticed even if we’re together, right~?’

Sakurazuki
‘Even so, there will be times when we can’t be together, right? Since it’s him, he’ll probably try to take advantage of any opening…’

Shino
‘It’s more likely that we’ll be contacted if we’re together.’

Akina
‘How annoying~ Should we use insecticide~?’

Reon
‘Stop it… You’ll bother other people…’

Akina
‘Okay~’

Sakurazuki
‘For now, we have no choice but to see how things play out.’

Shino
‘That’s right. If he tries to harm us…’

Sakurazuki
‘Shino, you have to hold back too, okay?’

I’ve already decided how to kill him, so—
