Episode 33: Analyzing the Spoils of War
~Unrecorded Information Log~
…
Fue Toukouya (Jewel Armory Slime) has acquired 〖Skill: Night Vision〗.
…

“(Alright, made it. Thanks to 〖Sense of Direction〗)”
Having annihilated the Hobgoblins, I returned to Trent Hill.
I took a breather in front of the withered old tree.
“(For now, let’s check out the spoils of war.)”
I started pulling out the various weapons I had obtained in the cave from 〖Weapon Storage〗.
After defeating the slender Goblin, I ate the Hobgoblins’ corpses and stored their weapons as well.
Also, during that process, I acquired the 〖Skill: Night Vision〗.
I guess it’s because I gathered the corpses and weapons in one place to save 〖Mana〗, and then ate and stored them in the dark.
Having this 〖Night Vision〗 is a great help, as it allows me to see to some extent even in the dark.
“(Thanks to it, I was able to find these too.)”
I muttered as I took out the weapons.
On the way down the slope where I had rolled, there were several small spaces like small rooms.
Weapons were gathered in one of them, and I took those as well.
I lined up the weapons I had obtained, one of each type.
“(Still, the capacity of 〖Weapon Storage〗 is amazing. Even after storing all this, there’s still plenty of room.)”
If I focus my mind on the 〖Skill〗, I can see how full the capacity is and what kind of items are stored.
Even if I forget what I stored, this function makes it no problem.
…Frankly, I just tossed them in haphazardly when I collected them, so without this, it would have been a disaster.
“(And, this is a human weapon?)”
I muttered as I took out a bow, following swords, spears, axes, clubs, and so on.
The Hobgoblins’ weapons were mostly made of iron.
That was probably because that slender Goblin was making them.
However, there were some weapons that seemed to be made from other materials.
This bow is one of them.
It’s based on a flexible wood, with leather wrapped around the handle and a string attached.
I don’t think Goblins have that much processing technology, and since there’s only one bow, I guessed it was something they had taken from a human.
“(Alright, let’s start by checking this one out. 〖Replicant Form – Analyze〗)”
The reason I lined up the weapons was to use 〖Replicant Form〗.
I’ll start by using it on the bow in my hand.
This 〖Skill〗, which I obtained through 〖Evolution〗, analyzes a weapon and then imitates it.
Now that I’ve acquired a large number of weapons, I can try it out.
“(Analyzing takes quite a bit of time, huh.)”
It doesn’t consume 〖Mana〗, but I need to concentrate during the analysis.
“(Hmm, hmm, I see, so it has such properties—)”
The weapon information gradually assembled in my head.
Once all of it was gathered, the analysis was complete.
“(Okay, next, 〖Replicant Form – Imitate〗)”
I activated the 〖Skill〗. The tip of the extended whip squirmed and transformed into the shape of a bow.
“(The string is properly taut too.)”
I plucked the string to check. It seems that it can copy not only the pure shape and strength but also these properties.
Its tension was comparable to the real thing.
“(But that’s strange, even though the 〖Weapon Body〗 enhancement is working…)”
〖Weapon Body〗 can enhance the overall performance of a weapon.
That should include the tension as well.
“(…Could it be that the replica is inferior… ?)”
I came up with such a hypothesis.
Perhaps the original performance is so low that it’s being canceled out by the enhancement.
Well, thinking about it won’t get me anywhere, so I stored the bow and picked up the next weapon. Let’s analyze them one after another.
After a while, the analysis of all weapon types was complete.
“(Ugh, I’m exhausted…)”
I stored the sword I had finished examining and slumped down.
Weapon analysis requires processing information, so my head is spinning.
I extended my whip and ate a Trent fruit.
“(But thanks to it, I learned a lot!)”
After a short rest, I jumped up. Sugar replenishment has fully revived me!
Whether slime’s thinking requires sugar is unknown as usual, though.
“(It seems that the analysis time for weapons changes depending on the weapon’s strength.)”
That was the first thing I learned.
The initial bow analysis took quite a bit of time, but that’s because it was a high-quality weapon.
The analysis of the steel weapons used by the Hobgoblins also took some time, but they all finished in about half the time of the bow.
The improvement in the proficiency of 〖Replicant Form〗 must have played a part, but the biggest factor was the quality of the weapon.
“(It’s also a gain to know that weapons have special effects.)”
It seems that some weapons in this world have special abilities in addition to their material properties.
That bow, which took the longest to analyze, had the ability to give arrows a wind-breaking effect when imbued with 〖Mana〗.
Even a complete amateur like me can understand the usefulness of being able to snipe while ignoring air resistance and wind direction.
The materials seem to be valuable, so it must be a very high-quality bow.
“(Well, it’s not like the Goblins’ stuff was that bad though.)”
The steel that was the basis of their equipment was strengthened by the slender Goblin’s 〖Skill〗.
Its strength and sharpness were a step above ordinary steel weapons.
It doesn’t have any special effects, but it’s a well-balanced type with excellent basic performance.
I tried cutting a tree with a sword, and the sword imitated with 〖Replicant Form〗 was sharper than the sword made with my base transformation ability.
My strength should be superior, so I’ll use them differently depending on the situation.
Then, as I was searching through 〖Weapon Storage〗 for other human-made weapons, I noticed a familiar figure at the foot of the hill.
“Ah, it’s Slime-san after all!”
It was the blue-haired girl, whom I had encountered for the third time.
