“…Hey, Caz. What do you think of what that guy said just now?”
“I think it’s exactly as he said…”
As I touched the ring around my neck and asked, Caz stared intently and replied.
Yeah… I bet this is to keep me from escaping from here, right…?
I can imagine the ring tightening if I try to escape, or maybe it’ll send an electric shock, or even explode? …No, no, they wouldn’t go so far as to kill me, would they?
If they did, there’d be no point in keeping me alive like this.
“Ah! Hey, hey, could it be that this is a tool to prevent us from using Mana?”
“That’s it.”
I pointed at Caz, who skillfully raised her front paw to declare this, and nodded emphatically.
If that’s the case, then it makes sense that Caz couldn’t transform earlier.
“So, the question is how to remove this ring.”
“Yeah.”
That Hyahha Man spoke so confidently, knowing that we would realize this. In other words, it’s not something that can be easily removed.
Even so.
“Just sitting here doing nothing isn’t an option, is it?”
I put my hands on the ring and tried to pull it off with all my might.
“Gugigi…!”
“Hal! Hang in there!”
Encouraged by Caz’s voice, I tried to tear it off with such force that my blood vessels felt like they were about to burst, but the ring is made of metal, and my own physical abilities are the lowest of all the characters, even at their maximum. There’s no way I can do anything about it with brute force.
“Haa… haa…”
“It didn’t work, did it…”
Caz told me with a dejected expression as I collapsed on the floor, exhausted.
Well, I didn’t expect this method to work from the start, so I’m not shocked at all.
“So, I guess we have no choice but to find a way to remove it.”
It can probably be removed with a key or something. As proof, there was a hole-like thing when I grabbed it earlier.
“The problem is, how do we get the key…”
I don’t have the skill to open it with a wire like in movies or manga, and there’s no wire here in the first place.
The quickest way is to steal the key from that Hyahha Man.
But.
“Ugh, come on! If I can’t use Mana, what can I do!”
I shouted at the ceiling in frustration and buried my head in my hands.
There’s no way the physically weakest me can win against that Hyahha Man, who looks like a Mob.
Is this finally a dead end…?
“W-Well, well. It’s not like we can do anything about it right now, so let’s think about it more.”
“Caz… you’re right.”
I never thought I’d be comforted by Caz, but she’s right.
After that, Caz and I continued to think about how to escape from this prison.

“Aah… impossible. It’s impossible no matter what I do.”
I spent all night thinking with Caz, but we couldn’t find a solution.
Even if we tried to fight, there’s nothing we can do with the weakest character, the ‘Incompetent Rascal Prince,’ and a kitten Demon Beast who can’t do anything without her SP.
I thought about attracting the Hyahha Man’s attention and letting only Caz escape from this place, but if I let her escape blindly without any information, it’s bound to fail.
“I-I’ll do my best to call for help! So!”
“No. If you do that, you’ll be in danger. There’s no way I can let my partner go through something like that.”
“B-But…”
Caz’s shoulders slumped because I immediately denied it.
But, she’s happy that I’m worried about her, so the corners of her mouth are loose. She should learn to have a better poker face.
“Well, calm down. At least they don’t seem to be planning to harm us right away, so let’s observe the situation for a while.”
I was confused yesterday because it was so sudden, but after a night, my head is working a little better.
After all, let’s gather information first and then think about it.
Then.
“Hey, it’s food.”
Yesterday’s Hyahha Man brought food. It seems like there’s no danger of starving to death… but.
“I don’t think so, but is there any poison in it…?”
“Why would I do that? You’re an important Sword Slave, I’m not going to let you die so easily until I get my money’s worth.”
“Huh? Sword Slave?”
“That’s right. From now on, you’ll be fighting in this Colosseum. Until you die.”
I see… so I’m going to be made to do something like a Gladiator. What should I do?
“W-Wait! If I have this Ring on, I won’t be able to use my Skills… no, my Blessing (Gift) in that fight!”
“? Of course. If you use your Blessing (Gift), it’ll be over right away.”
“What!?”
It seems that these guys intend to make me fight without Skills.
Well, it might be fairer in a way than a fight decided by the superiority of Skills… but there’s no way that’s true!
“Stop kidding around! Do you think I can fight properly!?”
“Yeah, I do. The audience is looking forward to seeing you get beaten up by your opponent and beg for your life.”
The Hyahha Man patted me on the shoulder and gave me a vulgar smile.
