Episode 59: Non-Disclosure Agreement
“What is this?”
“It’s a Non-Disclosure Agreement.”
“A Non-Disclosure… Agreement?”
“Yes, it’s a contract usually made between companies, but this time, I thought we’d make one between individuals.”
Aisha pointed at the items in the contract, explaining in detail.
“This is an official document made by a lawyer. If we leak any information we hear from you to the outside, we’ll be liable for damages.”
“Liable for damages?”
“The amount is 100 million.”
“O-One hundred million!?”
As Yuma’s eyes widened in surprise, Aisha looked around the room.
“This place is my property. The building is old, but the land is worth a decent price. Combined with my savings, it should be around 100 million. And besides—”
Aisha took a ballpoint pen from her chest pocket and showed it to the president next to her.
“Here, sign it.”
“Eh!? I have to sign a contract too?”
“Of course. Or are you going to blab the secrets?”
“D-Don’t be stupid! Of course, I’ll keep them. Don’t underestimate me!”
“Then there’s no problem.”
The president reacted with a “Ugh” to the offered pen, but said, “Of course!” and signed the document.
“You brought your seal, right?”
“Is that why you told me to bring it!?”
The president reluctantly took out his seal from his pocket and stamped the contract.
“Now, your secrets won’t be leaked. Normally, matters related to crimes are excluded from these kinds of contracts, but this contract doesn’t exclude them. In other words, it’s written with conditions favorable to you. If you doubt it, you can take the document home and have a lawyer check it.”
“N-No, that’s…”
Yuma pondered what to do. Certainly, the possibility of the president and Aisha-san leaking information to others was low.
However, he couldn’t say for sure that the information wouldn’t be leaked.
“Um… I don’t really have any secrets… Isn’t this some kind of misunderstanding?”
To Yuma, who was trying to play dumb, the president, Kanzaki-san, sighed.
“Hey, Yuma. You showed that box that can use magic at the company the other day, right?”
“Y-Yes, the one that can use magic even on the ground. I saw it, but…”
“That was a complete lie.”
“Eh!?”
“That was just junk, it doesn’t have any effect at all! Sorry for telling such a stupid lie, but Aisha-san said your Mana was strange, so I checked it out. I never thought you could really use magic on the ground.”
“N-No way…”
“So give up! Honestly, spill everything. I lied, but I’ll definitely keep my promise. Your secrets will stay between the three of us here. I won’t tell Maika or Tanaka-san!”
The president said firmly with a serious look.
Certainly, he couldn’t imagine the president blabbing to people. Aisha-san, too, even prepared this kind of contract.
They probably wouldn’t reveal it. I have no choice—
“Okay, I understand. But, please don’t tell anyone.”
“Of course, I understand.”
“Naturally.”
Yuma sighed and then straightened himself up.
“Actually… it was around the summer before last.”
“Hmm, around summer.”
Aisha leaned forward. Her eyes were shining brightly, almost with madness. —Is this going to be okay?
“…There was a hole in the backyard of my house. I wondered what it was and peeked inside, and there were Monsters.”
“A Dungeon!?”
“Y-Yes…”
Aisha raised her voice eagerly and began to mutter something with her hand on her chin.
“I see, a Dungeon in the backyard… that’s possible. There are many examples of Dungeons appearing on private property. So, a Dungeon in the backyard…”
“Um, can I continue the story?”
“Huh? Ah, sorry. Continue.”
“That Dungeon was very small.”
“Small? How small is small?”
The president next to her looked dumbfounded because she interrupted so much.
“It’s about one meter deep and the size of one tatami mat.”
“Ah, wait a minute! I need to take notes.”
Aisha hurriedly rummaged through the drawers of the desk and brought out a notepad. She opened a page and urged him with a ballpoint pen in hand, “Now, please.”
Yuma took a breath and continued the story.
“When I shined a Flashlight into the hole, inside there was—”
“What shape was the hole?”
“Eh, shape? Well… there was a round vertical Hole, and a horizontal Hole leading from it… yes, yes, it was shaped just like a shoe.”
“A shoe?”
“And, inside the Hole was—”
“Was the inside of the Hole dirt? Not a rock wall? Besides—”
“Shut uuuuuup!!”
The president finally snapped at Aisha for interrupting the story so much.
“Shut up for a bit!”
He held Aisha’s mouth shut, ignoring her muffled protests, and shouted at Yuma.
“Good, Yuma! Continue the story.”
“Ah… yes.”
While bewildered by Aisha, who was struggling to break free, Yuma decided to continue the story.
“So, when I checked the Hole… there was a Metal Slime there.”
“A Metal Slime?”
The two voices overlapped.
