Troublemaker of the Baron Family – Chapter 8

Cokes, looking weary, transfers the contents from the nail bag’s magic pouch into an orc leather magic pouch.
He takes the now-empty nail bag magic pouch and glares at my hand as I place it on top.

“Um, I feel embarrassed when you stare at me like that.”

“What are you talking about now?”
“Embarrassed? Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Just hurry up and do it!”

I can do it without placing my hand on it, but I’m only doing it as a performance.
Even this is a big deal, so if I show my real abilities, it will definitely cause trouble.

I place my hand on the nail bag and (delete, delete, delete), then place my hand on the orc leather bag next to it and… Bolt calls out.

I look at Bolt, who is holding the orc leather bag, examining it closely, and then reaching into the bag to check it.
Next, he takes the nail bag that used to be a magic pouch and checks it in the same way.

“What’s wrong, Bolt?”

“Hmm… they’re both just bags. Sorry, continue.”

I place my hand on the returned orc leather bag (Magic Pouch 2-60×17) (Attach, Attach) [Magic Pouch 2-60×16]

“Wait a minute, Fernan! Didn’t you say before that your magic pouch was Rank 1, and the time delay was 30 times?”

“Don’t be silly, Hattie. There’s no way I’d tell you everything when I don’t know if you’ll cooperate. That’s definitely a Rank 2, 2-60 magic pouch.”

“So… you had two Rank 2 magic pouches?”

“The time will come when I’ll tell you the details, but until then, please don’t ask. But rest assured, it’s not a crime.”

After finishing putting the items that were on the tarp into the new magic pouches, we start hunting.
Since Hattie started her magic training, I’ve been acting as a scout, taking down small animals with Stone Arrows and practicing Stone Lance at the same time.
The main attack is Stone Lance, and I plan to exchange Fire Magic and Ice Magic for other magic eventually, so I don’t practice them much.
When I use Stone Arrow or Lance, Hattie watches my movements from diagonally behind, using them as a reference for her own Stone Arrow and Lance.

After about ten days, Hattie can create Stone Lances of a certain thickness and length, so I teach her how to shoot them.
However, I haven’t taught her magic manipulation, so how far she can shoot depends on her efforts.

To make it clear to Hattie, I stretch out my arm towards the target and mutter , and at the same time, I shout and launch it.
With a light sound, the Stone Arrow pierces the target tree.

“When you shoot, push out the magic through your arm. You probably already know that, but don’t take your eyes off the target until you shoot.”

Cokes and Kilza are watching with great interest.

The Coming-of-Age Ceremony, in which one is recognized as an adult, is held at the church on the day after the Bestowal Ceremony in May.
With only one month left until my Coming-of-Age Day, I execute my plan.
I receive the magic pouches filled with food and daily necessities that I had gathered by the day before, say goodbye to Cokes and the others, and head to the town’s exit alone.

I only have a herb bag in the bag hanging from my shoulder, so the guards don’t suspect anything, thinking I’m going herb gathering alone again.
Just before leaving the gate, I hand a small folded letter to the guard and ask him to give it to the Honings Baron (he), then run off towards the grassland.

Wrapped in magic, I run with all my might, my body and mind light.
By the time that folded letter reaches the Baron’s hands, I’ll be far away from the town of Hunza.
I head to the usual grassland, and when I can no longer see the town, I walk along the Zudarin Road, which connects the frontier town of Zudarin and the royal capital Nielsen, aiming for the town of Vollen in the Vorgul Territory.
The town of Vollen is where the lord, Norka Honings, Marquis (he), resides, and it is also the town where Weiler Honings was born and raised.

The plan I came up with with Papa will have to be revised because my, the leader of the thieves, has disappeared, but I’ll make it need even more revision.
I walk along the grassland beside the road all day without meeting anyone, and set up camp at dusk.
Using Hattie’s dome as a model, I make it 2m long, 1.5m wide, and 1.4m high, and I make it look like just a stone on the outside.
After making air holes and holes for external monitoring, I prepare to sleep and think carefully about what to do from now on.

Currently, the magic I can use is three types: Earth Magic, Ice Magic, and Fire Magic, and six skills: Enemy Search Skill, Stealth Skill, Short Bow Skill, Short Spear Skill, Dismantling Skill, and Cooking Skill.
However, even if you attach a skill, you can’t use it right away; it requires practice and compatibility.
Even if you are granted a skill at the Bestowal Ceremony, there are quite a few people who can only become average no matter how much they practice.
Everyone said that this was the same as magic, so it must be true.

The magic and skills I have memorized, and the magic pouches are:
Ice Magic x6
Earth Magic x11
Fire Magic x11
Water Magic x5
Short Bow Skill x10
Short Spear Skill x10
Bow Skill x5
Dismantling Skill x2
Cooking Skill x2
Magic Pouch 1-5×20
Magic Pouch 2-60×16
Magic Pouch 3-10×22
Magic Bag 5-30×23

I tried to read and memorize from the magicians at the Adventurer’s Guild, but I couldn’t find anyone who had the Barrier Magic or Teleportation Magic I wanted.
There’s no way there would be anyone with Healing Magic among the adventurers, so I’m thinking of going to a church or a Healing Magic Guild someday.

I collected a lot of magic in case the Bums of Hunza and the people who become my companions have magical talent, but I hope it will be useful.
I want magic pouches and magic bags with a higher time delay effect than capacity, but there was no one around with pouches or bags with such a high effect.
I thought about reading the magic pouch that the Baron (he) had, but I refrained from taking the risk.

When I go out to the road the next morning, I put up a pillar about 5m high in the thicket on the opposite side of the road, and then put up a pillar about 3m high on the line connecting the pillar and the dome, slightly away from it.

The next day, late in the morning, a small folded letter was delivered to the head butler, Zebrun, from the squad leader of the gate guards.
According to the squad leader, Fernan handed it to the guard when he left the town to gather herbs, and he felt uneasy and quickly checked the contents.

It was written: [I will never return to the Honings House again. I will be allowed to sever my relationship with Weiler Honings, Baron (he).]
He thought, “He’s doing whatever he wants,” but he thought he had to tell his master, but he was sleeping until noon, so he decided to wait.

Cokes and the others returned from hunting and showed their faces at the Adventurer’s Guild, where the receptionist told them that the head butler of the Honings Baron House was calling for them.
They all looked at each other, wondering if they would be summoned after all, but they couldn’t ignore it, so Cokes went alone.

He told Zebrun at the service gate that he had been called by the head butler, and was led to the waiting room for merchants coming and going, but he didn’t come for a long time.
When he finally appeared, he shouted, “You’re late! What were you doing!”

“Zebrun-san, we’re adventurers. We’re not your or the Baron-sama’s servants. We came back from earning money, and we hurried here because we were called, but you’re yelling at us. So, what do you need?”

He thought, “He’s just a head butler, but he’s acting so important,” but he replied with a straight face.

“Fernan hasn’t come back! What’s going on!”

“I haven’t seen Fernan since yesterday. Isn’t he doing your errands?”

“What do you mean?”

“What do I mean? He hasn’t come to the town’s entrance yesterday or today. Did something happen to Fernan?”

“It’s nothing! You can go home.”

He said it rudely and turned his back.

“Zebrun-san, I’m taking care of Fernan at the Baron-sama’s request, but what’s with calling me and telling me to go home without saying why? I’m not your subordinate. If you’re going to call an adventurer, pay something appropriate!”

Cokes, intimidated by his intimidation, quickly searched his pocket, threw a silver coin, and hurriedly left the room.

“Master, it seems that Fernan hasn’t been seen since yesterday.”

“Since yesterday, then this was delivered this morning.”

“Yes, the squad leader said that the guard at the entrance received it.”

There is no fear that the plan will be noticed, but if that guy is not there, the schedule will be disrupted, and there will be no reason to send the Bums of Hunza to the capital, Vollen.
He clicked his tongue and thought about what to do.
The next morning, Zebrun went to the Adventurer’s Guild to request a specific assignment for the Bums of Hunza party.

However, he was turned down because, with the exception of Cokes, the members of the Bums of Hunza party were Bronze Rank, and they couldn’t accept specific assignment requests.

Zebrun, who had been ordered by his master to issue a specific assignment request to them, was frustrated but couldn’t come up with a good idea.

Having no choice, he asked Cokes to pass on a message and went home.

The next day, in the evening, Cokes and the others showed up at the guild and heard Zebrun’s message from the receptionist, but they snorted and ignored it.

Two days passed, then three, and Cokes and the others still hadn’t shown up. Zebrun was scolded by his master and went to the Adventurer’s Guild to find out what was going on.

“Zebrun-san, adventurers are free to accept or reject requests. Besides, even if you tell them to come without even mentioning the details of the request, no idiot would happily go.”

The receptionist said curtly, and Zebrun blushed and went home.
