Adventurer Life of Exiled Marquis – Chapter 38

Chapter 38: The Exiled Marquise and the Demon Realm 1

If the sole objective was to raise one’s Adventurer Rank, having a Sister dispatched from the church worked quite advantageously.
It made receiving nominated requests from the church easier, and even without them, having experts in Healing Magic accompany you greatly expanded the scope of your actions.

While adventurers forming parties was rare in the Faltar Kingdom, in the Orclaugh Kingdom, adventurers not forming parties were the rarer ones. Thus, the presence or absence of a healer greatly affected a party’s ability to sustain combat.
After all, Healing Magic couldn’t be substituted with a Skill, and unlike Skills, magic couldn’t be used unless it was learned.

There were many adventurers who learned and used magic through self-study, but offensive magic inevitably took priority.
Therefore, Sisters and Priests, who were specialists in Healing Magic, were highly valued.

I’ll say it again: Sisters and Priests, specialists in Healing Magic, were highly valued.

“I’m sorry.”

Shara Lansra apologized.
We were four hours north from the City of Hecate by carriage; it would be faster on an adventurer’s feet.

This was the edge of human territory, bordering the Demon Realm.
Adventurers simply called it the Camp.
At that Camp, Shara Lansra apologized.

“I may be a Sister, but Healing Magic is, well, something I’m a little weak at.”
“I know.”
“We know.”

What’s she bringing this up for now? I thought as I replied.

“We saw you couldn’t immediately heal an injury as severe as ribs sticking out of an abdomen,” Erika stated bluntly.

Shara looked dejected upon hearing Erika’s assessment.

“Ah, well, yes. That’s right. My skills are such that even my seniors told me to change factions.”
“Change factions, you say?”
“I was originally part of the Healer Faction, but… despite being a Sister, I only got better at offensive magic rather than Healing Magic, so they told me it would be better if I changed factions.”

Shara spoke, looking obviously crestfallen.
Being told by her faction seniors to switch factions was worse than I had imagined.
Or rather, since it seemed she hadn’t wanted to change herself, she had essentially been kicked out of the faction.

“People have their aptitudes and dispositions, so it’s best not to worry about it. Your current path suits you better, Shara-san, the one who tried to face a Golden Ogre for the Villagers despite being injured,” Erika said.

Erika offered these words of comfort, but would they truly console someone from the Healer Faction, which aimed to save the weak through treatment?
Incidentally, the faction that aimed to save the weak by assisting in the Subjugation of Monsters, like Shara’s current one, was called the Monster Subjugation Faction.

“Do you really think so?”
“Indeed I do. I cannot imagine you, who would stand against a formidable foe for the sake of the weak, simply using Healing Magic in a clinic.”
“Can I… do my best?”
“I shall guarantee it. You can do it, Shara-san.”
“Erika-san, thank you. I’ll give it my all!”
“That’s the spirit.”

I couldn’t join the conversation. How lonely.
I watched the two of them getting excited and felt dejected.
