Adventurer Life of Exiled Marquis – Chapter 202

Chapter 183
*

“While my disciple was flirting with My Bride, I went and checked for you.”

Just as I was pulling Shara and Luu, who had sprouted up between people like weeds and were getting rather annoying, out of the way, my master and Elza dropped down from the roof.

“There are no Majin nearby.”

“None~”

“But my Magicka was completely drained?”

I protested to the two of them, who looked like they wanted to say, ‘We did the work for you.’

“You still don’t have enough Guts.”

My protest was brushed aside with a single word: Guts.
Guts doesn’t restore Magicka, but in my master’s case, it feels like if he just grunted ‘Hmph!’ with enough Guts, it would recover, so I decided not to say anything.

“Putting that aside,”

My master turned towards Shara.

“Sister-chan, what do you think? Do you think there are still Majin around?”

“Huh? Me?”

Shara tilted her head, sniffling loudly while grumbling that her nose still felt stuffy.

“Um, ah, let’s see. I don’t think there are any more. The voice-san says they’re gone too.”

Terrifyingly, it carried immense persuasive power.
How should I put it… it was genuine, logic-defying conviction.
I even felt a slight fear towards Shara, who seemed to be walking arm-in-arm with madness while remaining perfectly sane.

“Thank you very much, Shara.”

While I was internally freaking out thinking ‘Shara-san is scary,’ Erica offered her thanks with an affectionate smile.
Luu laughed innocently, saying, “Shaa-chan, that’s amazing!”
As expected of Erica and her best friend; their capacity for acceptance is on a different level.

Well, my capacity is reserved exclusively for Erica, though.
As I subtly averted my gaze from Shara, the Margrave’s loud voice echoed from beyond the crowd.
It seems they’re starting to move.

The refugees slowly began to move.
Hmm, it’s about time we made our exit.

“Alright then, shall we also retreat… I mean, head home?”

If we stay here, the Margrave will definitely catch us.
I’d at least like to wash my neck before our audience.

“Well, that’s true. There isn’t much we can do by staying here, after all.”

“That’s right. The people from the church (our place) are taking care of the injured and such.”

Shara said, ‘Let’s go home,’ but I thought, ‘Isn’t your home the church?’

“What about Daryl-kun?”

Hearing Daryl’s shouts from afar, Luu tilted her head, asking the question to no one in particular.

“We can just leave him, he’ll be fine.”

Luu gave me a dubious look.
What? Is that a ‘Is it really okay to abandon the prince of your homeland?’ kind of face?

“Daryl will be fine.”

Well, he’s an idiot who occasionally makes huge blunders, and he’s the kind of fool who shouts his technique names, but he’s not incompetent.
When I shrugged, I felt Erica’s gaze on me for some reason.
What is it? When I questioned her with my eyes, Erica just shook her head as if to say it was nothing.

“Have you all reached an agreement?”

My master moved to wrap up the conversation.

“Alright then…”

I looked down at the street, crowded with moving refugees, adventurers, church personnel, and their Knight escorts.

“Shall we use the roofs to get home?”

Shara grumbled with an exhausted look, “The roofs again?”
What does she mean, ‘again’?
Tilting my head, we quickly climbed onto the roof.

I could hear Daryl shouting my name from the street below, but I ignored him. Because right after that, I heard the Margrave’s voice too.
As I left, I quickly told the Margrave that there didn’t seem to be any more Majin, then fled the scene.

“I’ll definitely come settle things with you, Longdagger!”

The Margrave’s voice was terrifying.

Afterword
No matter how I looked at it, this was the only place I could find a clean break…
