Cheat Magic for a Slow Life – Chapter 146

Chapter 146: An Idea Amidst the Snow

Snow again today, huh…

Being cooped up at home like this all the time really starts messing with my sense of time.

I like reading books and all, but I’m fundamentally an outdoorsy type, so staying inside for days on end starts making me feel weird.

Well, even if I went outside now, it’s just piled-up snow, so there’s not much point.

…No, there must be something you can only do because it’s winter. I shouldn’t forget to enjoy the moment, the day itself.

Specifically, yes, for example… winter sports.

Like snowboarding… I wanna do that!!!

“And so, here I am! At a mountain!!!”

I randomly used Teleportation to some place in the Northern Hemisphere and came to a mountain.

Using the True Words for ‘Wide Area’ and ‘Pressure’, I packed down the snow to make a ski slope.

Then, I slid down it on a snowboard…

“‘Midron (Slope Generation)!!!'”

While sliding, I generated a slope, turned it into a jump ramp, and launched myself into the air.

Even though it’s a Snowy Mountain, it’s sunny and there’s no wind, so I don’t feel the cold that much.

Feeling the rush of speed, the pleasant wind generated by my own velocity, I jumped and did a double rotation using my hips.

“Whoooo!!!”

I landed smoothly, slowed down by weaving back and forth… and stopped.

Hmm, it’s been a while, but this is fun!

Lately, it’s been Winter, and I haven’t been moving my body much…

Doing sports like this feels great.

Seriously, I can recommend sports for everyone once they become adults.

Back in school, people who weren’t good at sports often got made fun of by their classmates or got bad grades from teachers, and that trauma leads many to avoid exercise even as adults…

But when you do sports as an adult, nobody gets angry at you or makes fun of you.

So, you can purely enjoy learning the skills at your own pace…

Sports like skiing, where there are no opponents or teammates, are especially recommended.

For something even easier, marathons are also good. It’s a simple competition just about reaching a farther distance in a shorter time, and since distance and time are easily visualized, it’s easy to maintain motivation.

Really, modern working adults don’t get enough exercise.

In this world, even townspeople walk everywhere, and they get a decent amount of exercise in daily life through things like drawing water and carrying luggage… And when it comes to nobles, if you can’t ride a horse or wield a sword, you’re treated like an oddball.

Even Count Missgancia, though I don’t mention it much because I’m not interested in old guys’ bodies, is a large, sturdy man with a sharp look.

His arms are thicker than some mediocre martial artists back on Earth, and his thighs especially are so thick you’d think they were from a fighting manga.

Apparently, it’s better for nobles to be muscular and look strong?

This world isn’t yet like early modern Europe, where nobles flaunted their wealth rather than their military prowess and dressed extravagantly.

In most cases, nobles are the warrior class, and swordsmanship and horsemanship are expected skills. And apparently, thick thigh muscles, important for riding, are judged as sexy! Erotic!

Of course, that’s just for male nobles, right? Women are told to be chaste.

Anyway, while lamenting the lack of exercise among modern people, I enjoyed snowboarding, using my core muscles.

But… doing this alone is kinda… meh.

It’s fun, but there are people I want to enjoy it with.

Rosalinde is… even though she’s in a stable period, I can’t invite her to winter sports where there’s a risk of falling, huh.

Then, I guess it has to be Shio.

And also, Kaede and Margot.

Xiaolin and Hanako too.

Calling my townspeople lovers might be nice too, but my Strider lovers have extremely good reflexes, so they’ll probably be able to do it and enjoy it without needing instruction… that’s the idea.

When I call the townspeople lovers, I think I’ll do it separately and teach them how.

So, I used Teleportation and called them over.

“Woow… We slide on this?”

“That’s right. Well, if you don’t want to, you can just drink some hot cocoa in the rest area I made over there.”

“Nuh-uh, I wanna do it!”

When I let them try…

“Hmm… like, this?! Hya!”

Shio mastered it in an instant.

As expected, she’s not ordinary.

Is it called body control? She instinctively knows how her body will react depending on how she uses it.

Kaede and Xiaolin were the same; they mastered it in the blink of an eye after sliding just a little.

Hanako is clumsy, so she struggled a bit, but even she could do it normally after about thirty minutes of sliding.

Margot isn’t the physical type either, but fundamentally, an unathletic person can’t be a Strider… so she mastered it instantly and was even doing jumps.

“This is fun, desu ne!”

“Ooh, fast, aru!”

“This is fun!”

Once they got used to it like that, I showed them rotations and stuff like that. “Tricks,” as they’re called.

“Like this?”

Whoaaaa!!! Shio did like five rotations in mid-air!!!

Her physical abilities are just insane, as expected…

Or rather, Shio is wearing her usual tribal look in this Snowy Mountain. Meaning, her navel is exposed. That’s weird, right…?

W-well, anyway.

Winter sports with the girls I like.

The sport itself is fun, feeling the wind while working up a pleasant sweat… but being able to share that fun with the girls I like is also fun in its own way.
