The Disenchanted Summoner – Chapter 97

Chapter 97: The Ultimate Choice… Not Really.
◆◆◆

In a conference room within the Weimar Royal Castle, Princess Victoria stared intently at the letter placed on the desk.

“What shall we do, Your Highness? If we comply with the Admos Kingdom’s request, it means we will be drawing our bows against Maya-dono…”
“Can you bring yourself to defy that person?”
“…”

The aide, asked this by Victoria, quietly averted their gaze.

Victoria, who had anticipated that reaction, let out a small sigh before turning her gaze to the dignitaries present in the conference room.

“This request from Admos is, frankly, a form of harassment. They’re probably gloating, imagining us wringing our hands over this.”

Victoria said this, disgust showing on her beautiful face.

“From Admos’s perspective, this might seem like an ultimate choice, but my answer has been decided from the beginning.”

The dignitaries waited intently for her next words.

Looking around at the dignitaries, Victoria spoke.

“We will not accept Admos’s request.”

Not a single dignitary objected to Victoria’s statement.

From Victoria’s perspective, the Admos Kingdom’s scheme was far too optimistic.

In the first place, calling Ota, who was summoned around the same time as Nara, a Summoner of Justice was strange. And there was no way Ota, who had been easily knocked unconscious by Kenta’s magic, could be Kenta’s equal.

It made one worry that the Admos Kingdom was being deceived by Ota.

“While the Summoner called Ohta keeps Maya-dono occupied, they plan to subjugate the other Summoner with sheer numbers… Can something like that really be done?”
“Rather, why wouldn’t they think that that Maya-dono hasn’t trained this Summoner called Nara?”
“Well, apparently, when Lord Nara was in Admos, he couldn’t use magic and fought the Demon Tribe only with a sword.”
“How much time do they think has passed since then…? Besides, Lord Nara is by that Maya-dono’s side, isn’t he? It wouldn’t be strange if he’s been thoroughly trained.”
“As expected, isn’t Admos being deceived by this Summoner called Ohta? That’s the guy, right? The Summoner who was causing a ruckus in front of the castle gate the other day.”

Remembering the recent disturbance and the fear that Kenta might have been watching them at the time, the dignitaries shuddered in unison.

“A-Anyway, we of Weimar will not obey Admos. Depending on the situation, we will side with Maya-dono.”

As Victoria said this, the dignitaries nodded in agreement.

“Does this mean we’ve joined the ranks of the world’s enemies?”

One dignitary said this self-deprecatingly, but the others felt differently.

“If it’s to protect the people of Weimar, siding with Maya-dono is definitely better. After all…”

The dignitary who trailed off muttered while looking out the window… towards the direction of the forest where Kenta lived.

“…an army of the Human Tribe could be blown away without a trace by a single one of Maya-dono’s spells…”

The dignitaries recalled the incident where Wimple, the Second Princess of the Weimar Kingdom, was killed by an explosion. Remembering the terror of that time, they all turned pale.

That was just a glimpse of Kenta’s power.

If Kenta wished it, he possessed enough power to destroy half, or perhaps even all, of this Capital City in a single blow.

That had already been proven when he destroyed half of the Lindor Kingdom’s Capital City.

Rebel against that Kenta?

Victoria and the others simply did not possess such courage.

“Inform the envoy from Admos. Weimar cannot entertain the Admos Kingdom’s delusions. If they try to force us, we will side with Maya-dono. So it is decided.”
“Yes, Your Highness!”

An attendant within the conference room heard Victoria’s words and headed towards the Admos envoy.

“Well now, there’s no turning back.”

Victoria muttered this self-deprecatingly and stood up smoothly.

“Request an audience with Maya-dono immediately. Contact the Forest Guards and tell them to submit the request for an audience to Ivern-dono.”
“Yes, Your Highness!”

Thus, the request for an audience with Kenta was made to Ivern, and upon receiving approval, Victoria set out towards the forest where Kenta lived.
