Profession: Tailor – Chapter 2

Day 2: My First Customer
Login Day 2

“Alright, time to make some clothes today, too,” I thought, about to start my crafting. But then I realized I couldn’t procure any more materials.

It wasn’t like I had a ton of materials to begin with, but yesterday, as I cleared missions one after another, I accumulated Guild Points. I could exchange those Guild Points for materials, so I was able to keep crafting endlessly.
Items ordered with points were delivered to my home right away, so there was no need to go outside at all.

But it seems that loop has finally reached its limit. My materials have run out, my GP has run out, and I can’t find any missions I can complete next.
In times like these, there’s that one thing to do, right? I just need to sell the Items I’ve made.
And so, I finally felt like leaving my room.

It’s not like I’m the type to want to be a shut-in, even in a game, but crafting clothes is so much fun that if I had unlimited materials, I might have stayed in my house for another three or four days.
While crafting, I realized I could add manual arrangements and improve quality, and once I got into it, there was no end to it.

By the way, this room has two doors.
One wall with a door also has a window, so I can tell that’s probably the entrance to go outside, but maybe I should check the other one first. It seems there are other rooms besides this one.

Thinking that, I opened the inner door, and a space about twice the size of the previous workshop spread out before me.
Right in front of the door was a counter, and beyond it, in a wide area, were shelves and bare mannequins. And on the far wall, there was another door with a small window and a bell.
It seems this room can be used as a shop.

“Huh, so you can have your own shop right from the start in this game? Can I sell Items here already? Or do I need to go through some procedure?”

As I was thinking about that, the inner door suddenly opened.
“Wah!” A wave of nervousness hit me, but the person who appeared had a triangular symbol floating above their head, so I breathed a sigh of relief. This mark indicates an NPC.

The visitor was a girl with cow ears and horns, and her visual design was quite to my liking.
She seemed to have a default expression of half-closed eyes and a half-smile, as if she was looking down on people, giving her a mischievous, impish aura. But even that was cute.

As soon as she entered, she looked around the room unreservedly and snorted.

“What’s this? There’s nothing here. I stopped by because a shop in a place like this is unusual.”

For the time being, I put on a pleasant, beaming smile.

I’d heard that in conversations with NPCs in this game, the dialogue progresses even if you don’t actively speak.
Instead, when necessary, choices appear, or you can express your intentions to the other person by inputting emotion commands called Emote Stamps.

Not only do dialogue choices matter, but these stamps also seem to have a big impact on NPC affinity, and the tutorial said it’s good to use them often.
It seems you can have quite free-form conversations if you try, but I’m not very interested in talking to AI, so I’m grateful for these simple communication tools.

I immediately used a soft, smiling Emote Stamp on the girl who had just arrived. I like cute girls.

“Hmm, so you’re a Tailor. Are you the one who does the tailoring?”

When I nodded repeatedly, she grinned and came up to the counter.

“Well then, what do you think of my outfit today?”

A multiple-choice dialog box appeared.

→ It looks great on you!
  It’s not really my taste.
  I don’t really know.

I re-examined the clothes of the girl standing there confidently.
She was wearing a dressy one-piece made of layered black tulle, with a structured, jacket-like navy outerwear over it. And she had gray tights with a striped pattern, and bright pink pumps on her feet.

It felt like a classic style with a punch, and I honestly liked it. I also thought it suited her very well.
So, I chose the top option without hesitation.
Her expression didn’t change as she said, “Oh, really?” Hmm, I couldn’t tell if that was the right or wrong answer.

“Well, whatever. I’m Cielshanta. You can call me Ciel. I’ll stop by again if I’m in the area. Make sure you have some products ready by then.”

With that, she left.

I was glad that, for now, it seemed she didn’t dislike me.
Apparently, if you get friendly with NPCs, they might give you things or tell you information, so raising affinity is a good idea. Besides, I like cute girls.

By the way, at the same time Cielshanta left, a system panel activated.
It seems I can manage Item sales here. The activation condition was apparently approaching this counter.

It looks like I can set the prices myself, but I can also view the Guild’s buy-back prices. I don’t really understand market rates, so for now, I’ll set them the same as the Guild prices.

What happens if I’m not in the shop or if I’m logged out? Will a computer handle sales even if it’s unmanned?
Well, I’ll put half of my Items up for sale as a test and see what happens.

And, what’s this…? “Please decide on a shop name”?
Hmm, what should it be? Actually, giving it a fancy name at this beginner stage would just be lame, so something simple is fine. I can probably change it later anyway.
Boutique BiBiA, then.

When I finished the settings and closed the panel, the shop’s appearance had completely changed.
The previously empty shelves and hanger racks were now neatly lined with clothes, and the bare mannequins were wearing shirts. There were still many empty spaces, but it instantly looked more like a shop.

However, since it’s all bland—or to put it nicely, simple—clothes made by a beginner player, it has a somewhat less polished Muji vibe.
At least for that mannequin, I wanted to dress it in the puff-sleeve blouse I made with some arrangements, not the shabby shirt I made first. Can’t I adjust that myself?
But just as I thought that, I was able to easily go behind the counter and change the mannequin’s clothes manually.

Being able to shortcut anything is the real charm of games, but in Kima-Kura, it seems you can do most things manually if you try.
This kind of attentive system is really great.

This is going to be a real time sink.
No sooner had I thought that, I started fussing over the shop’s layout, and then my alarm went off.
Ugh, time for bed already? Time really flew.

【Kima-Kura Utopia. Official Talk Room – Room for Discussing Communicate Missions】

[Alaska]
Sorry to derail, but Cielshanta’s event won’t progress no matter what I do. Is this a bug?

[Chon]
That’s been an issue for ages. Seeing as the devs haven’t fixed it at all, I want to believe it’s not a bug.

[Rinrin]
Actually, the thing to worry about isn’t that Ciel’s event won’t progress, but that Alaska-shi is trying to progress Ciel’s event. Ciel is one of the top five most notorious problem characters in Kima-Kura, you know?

[Alaska]
What’s that? Sounds scary. Details please.

[YTYT]
Top five is an exaggeration, more like top ten, right? She only seriously affects Patissiers, Tailors, and Crafters. If you get involved with Ciel, Rirusten stops showing up.

[KUDOU-S1]
How can you say Riru-sama disappearing even from the Noble District, which you can enter from Lv50, is ‘not a serious effect’?

[Mosha]
Well, there’s no real harm to game progression, but if you like Riru, it’s better to keep Ciel at a distance even if you’re a different class. Besides, she’s useless as a customer character, so there’s no point in dealing with her.

[Alaska]
I’m a Hunter, so I’m saaaaaafe for now? Thanks for the info. But I want to meet Riru-sama eventually, so I’ll cut ties with Ciel.

[Takenaka]
Riru-sama is a true angel. Not only is she an incredibly competent patron, but she has a great personality and flawless looks. What is she, an archangel?

[Ma Yu]
I want to date Riru-sama huff huff

[Chon]
The Riru fan-faction is too intense; I’m just glad my fave is someone else. There’s no way I could compete with that. Daily date events, hurry up!

[Zoebel]
Don’t talk bad about Ciel-sama! Ciel-sama isn’t some flirtatious woman who’s friendly with everyone!

[YTYT]
Ciel-niki, ‘sup. Knew you’d show up. (deadpan)

[Zoebel]
I’m definitely going to be Ciel-sama’s first man!

[Rinrin]
Good luck with that.

[Naltiq]
Ciel is cute and appears early on, so that’s part of the trap.
