Returnee of the Seventh Academy – Chapter 178

Episode 67: Oh Right, We Did Make That Promise

Having defeated Amrutat, Kazuma returned to the conference hall and reported to the other security guards that he had vanquished the enemy outside.
At that moment, Kazuma had forgotten he’d deactivated his Powered Suit and inadvertently revealed his face, but the Chinese security guards were already aware of the situation and kept quiet.
Thanks to them, Kazuma’s identity was not exposed.

Kazuma, saved by a hair’s breadth, then continued to patrol the surroundings with the other security guards, fulfilling his duties.
Some time later, the Overlord, who had subjugated the Ultra-Large Ibinom, returned.
The Overlord visited Kazuma, who was in charge of security, and asked what had become of Makoto.

“What happened to Shindo Makoto, the leader of the Ivera Church?”
“Ah. He’s currently detained in Japan.”
“What kind of punishment does Japan intend to mete out?”
“We’re thinking of working him to death. His Snatch Gift is quite useful, after all.”
“I see. If the Crimson Knight says so, then we won’t interfere. However, if something happens, you will take responsibility, understood?”
“Of course.”
“Very well, then. I have post-war matters to attend to, so I shall take my leave.”
“Ah, please wait.”

The Overlord, having finished speaking, turned his back to leave Kazuma but was called back and turned around.

“Is there something?”
“Well, um, how is the war situation?”
“It’s already suppressed. In China, that is.”
“I see. By the way, changing the subject, when are we going to have our test of strength?”
“You seem quite eager. I’d like to say right now if possible, but as I mentioned earlier, there are post-war matters to attend to. Perhaps when that’s over and things have settled down a bit.”
“Understood. I’ll await your contact.”
“Mm. Well then, let’s meet again next time.”

This time, it was truly a farewell, and the Overlord raised a hand and departed.
Kazuma watched his retreating back before returning to his duties, continuing to guard the venue until the commotion subsided.

Finally, when the area around the venue had calmed down and Kazuma was relieved from his security duties, the cell phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
Just when he could finally take a breather, Kazuma wondered what it could be and answered the phone to find a very frantic Ema on the line.

“Hello, Kazuma-kun! Please return to Japan immediately!”
“Whoa! I understand, but what on earth happened?”
“I need you to treat the injured. If possible, right now!”

Japan had repelled the Ultra-Large Ibinom, but small and medium-sized ones were a different matter.
That said, the number of Ibinom appearing in various Japanese cities was decreasing, and it was only a matter of time before they were completely suppressed.
However.
Many casualties had resulted from the small and medium-sized Ibinom.
Therefore, many Gifted with healing-type Gifts were being called upon, but their numbers were insufficient.
That’s where Kazuma came in.
If Kazuma, who had once saved hundreds, even thousands, of injured people at once, joined in, he would be as good as a hundred men.

“So that’s what it is. Understood. I’ll return immediately.”
“That’s a great help!”

And so, Kazuma hung up the phone and informed the other security guards that he was returning to Japan.

“Sorry. The Prime Minister called me, so I’m heading back to Japan. You guys will be fine without me, right?”
“Yes, sir. No problem. This whole area has already been secured.”
“Roger. Well then, keep up the good work.”
“Thank you for your hard work!”

Kazuma returned to Japan via Teleportation and asked Ema which region he should head to.
Kazuma immediately teleported to the region Ema indicated, visited the field hospital, and went around healing large numbers of injured people with Recovery Magic.
He called to ask where the next location was, headed there, and continued to heal the injured one after another.

In less than an hour, Kazuma had made his rounds of the field hospitals set up in various locations and healed the injured.
Another tremendous achievement was added to his name, but in the first place, if Kazuma had crushed the Ivera Church sooner, an incident like this wouldn’t have happened.
In a way, it could be called a self-staged crisis, but Kazuma didn’t understand that.

“Is that everyone?”
“Yes! Crimson Knight-sama! Thank you so much for this!”
“It’s fine. It’s not a big deal.”
“That’s not true at all! To be able to heal this many people at once is something not even a Holy Maiden could do! It’s practically a miracle!”

It might sound like an exaggeration, but from an ordinary person’s perspective, Kazuma’s power was the very embodiment of a miracle.
In addition to his overwhelming abilities, he possessed a healing power that could cure anyone as long as they weren’t dead.
It was no wonder that ordinary people would call it a miracle.

“I-Is that so? Well, I’m glad you seem to be healed. I have other places I need to be, so…”
The pressure was intense, so Kazuma judged it unwise to stay there any longer, cut the conversation short, and fled to Ema’s side via Teleportation.

“Phew…”
“Welcome back. Are you finished already?”
“As I reported, all the injured housed in the field hospitals set up in various locations have been fully healed. Also, I took care of most of the remaining Ibinom while I was at it, so I think this commotion will be over soon.”
“You work fast, as always. Though I wish you’d be a bit more proactive.”

It was a bit late to point it out, but Ema grumbled, wishing Kazuma’s personality were a little more decent, given his abilities.
However, it would also be troublesome if Kazuma threw a tantrum and went on a rampage.
Kazuma was extremely difficult to handle, but his power was undeniably useful, so Ema couldn’t really complain.
However, he had no qualms about voicing his grumbles and dissatisfaction, even right in front of Kazuma.

“Isn’t it better to stop saying things like that in front of the person himself?”
“This much should be fine, wouldn’t you agree?”
“You’re gradually starting to understand me, huh…”
“Spending time with you, one can’t help but understand. You’re easy to get carried away, and if flattered, you’ll do as one wishes.”
“…”

Unable to deny or refute it, Kazuma could only remain silent.
After all, it was all true.
The saying “even a pig will climb a tree if flattered” perfectly described him.

“Well, putting that aside, the post-war cleanup is going to be tough, huh~”
“Ah, regarding that, please do your best. I can’t be of any help at all.”
“I know. The right person for the right job. You’ve worked hard enough. Now it’s our turn.”

This time, Kazuma had healed all the injured who had appeared, finishing one job.
Since Kazuma had hunted most of the Ibinom along the way, it probably wouldn’t take long for them to be completely suppressed.
With this, Kazuma’s role was over, and the rest was up to Ema and the government.

And so, Kazuma decided to return home temporarily.
He returned to Ivy, confirmed the situation, and after making sure no one was injured, he took a rest.

“Is it alright for you to be off work?” Honoka asked Kazuma, who was about to take a nap in his private room.
“It seems my part is over.”
“I see. In that case, rest for a while.”
“Yup~”

Kazuma closed the door to his room and flopped onto the bed.
He let out a big yawn, and just as he felt drowsiness wash over him, closed his eyes, and was about to fall asleep, his phone rang.
Just when he was about to sleep, Kazuma, slightly irritated, wondered who on earth was interrupting him and answered the phone.

“Yes, hello!”
“Kazuma-kun. I’m sorry to bother you, but there’s a request for your support from France.”
“Why?!”
“Why, you ask? It’s because France doesn’t have any powerful Gifted. It seems they’re struggling with their current forces. Moreover, they don’t have a Holy Maiden, so the situation doesn’t look good.”
“Ah…”

Listening to Ema’s explanation, Kazuma found himself convinced.
Charlotte was currently dispatched to China for an international conference, leaving France short on manpower.
Therefore, they had an agreement with Japan, stipulating that the Crimson Knight would go to their aid in times of need.

“Understood. I’ll go finish it up quickly.”
“I’m counting on you.”

He couldn’t take his nap, but Kazuma was aware that he was partly responsible for the current commotion, and grumbling that his dues had come, he headed for France.
In less than an hour, Kazuma saved France and healed all the injured, and would later receive immense gratitude from France.
