Chapter 8
The day after I received the Baptism.
While I was having breakfast as usual, Father-sama told me to come to his study afterward.
I’d never entered the study before, as it was Father-sama’s workplace, but there was a stately desk at the far end.
Near the entrance, there was what appeared to be a reception set, with a sofa and a square table.
“Father-sama. What is it?”
“Wait a moment. He should be here soon.”
There was a knock-knock on the door, and when Father-sama gave permission, the door opened and a man entered.
“Marquis-sama. You summoned me, is something the matter?”
“Kallion. Thank you for coming. Is this your first time meeting Claude?”
“I have seen him playing in the garden from a distance, but this is indeed our first meeting.”
“Claude. Kallion is an excellent knight in our domain’s knightly order, primarily responsible for training new recruits.”
“Pleased to meet you, my name is Claude.”
“Such a polite greeting, I’m honored.”
“I called you here, Kallion, because I wish to entrust Claude’s education to you.”
“With all due respect, he is still a five-year-old child. I don’t believe he can keep up with my training.”
“I understand what you’re saying, Kallion, but Claude is beloved by the gods and possesses Stats that set him far apart from others. I want to provide him with proper education from an early age.”
“If you insist to that extent, I will accept. However, if I deem it impossible, I will report back to you.”
“Mm. I’m counting on you.”
“Very well, Claude-sama. Please change into clothes suitable for exercise and come to the garden.”
“Understood, Master. I’ll be in your care.”
After leaving the study, I returned to my room, changed into the clothes Father-sama had prepared for me, and headed to the garden.
“Alright, let’s start with some warm-up exercises. Please move your body following my lead.”
“Understood.”
Though he called them warm-ups, they were quite strenuous; I calmly performed movements that would make an ordinary child cry out.
Kallion had intended to quickly give up on me and report to the Marquis if I couldn’t keep up, but he was now reconsidering.
“Claude-sama. Your physical abilities are magnificent. Do you feel any discomfort?”
“Yes. It’s hard to put into words, but it feels like my body isn’t quite in sync.”
“It’s because your body’s movements haven’t caught up to the Stats bestowed upon you by the Baptism. First, we’ll start by getting you accustomed to this disparity with your Stats. Please run after me.”
“Yes!”
Kallion gradually increased his pace while confirming that Claude was keeping up steadily.
Even when running at a pace that would leave some adult new recruits behind, Claude kept up firmly. Kallion truly realized then just how vast the difference in heaven-sent talent could be.
