Chapter 11: Three Days in the Royal Capital II (The Roswell Incident)
We finally managed to resolve the issues with Ryuguin that day. Of course, many things had been altered to the point of no return by him, and it would take considerable time to truly solve the problems. However, that was something the people of this world had to handle. All I could do was help those around me.
As requested by Anon, we spent three days in the Royal Capital. On the third day, as planned, we visited the theater at his behest to watch a performance presented by Anon.
The opinions from those who watched the play with me were quite favorable, and it made me feel somewhat awkward, as if I were being praised. That said, it seemed that the play featuring me as the main character was set to have sequels, the second and third installments already in the works.
What caught my attention was that Eris and Ange, who had been asked by Anon to share their thoughts for the script, were happily agreeing to it. Seriously, stop it. Keep that kind of talk for when I’m not around. I quickly averted my gaze from them, deciding to ignore it entirely. If I didn’t, I would die of embarrassment…
As a side note, I overheard a rather interesting story about the play. The actor who played “Yamada the Holy Knight” in the previous Ryuguin-scripted performance had suffered greatly, being identified with the character known for being the worst, facing insults and character attacks. Hearing such a story made me feel like a complete victim. Can I cry now?
However, for this performance, in order to dispel that negative image, it was decided that the former actor of “Yamada the Holy Knight” would be assigned the role of the true “Yamada the Holy Knight,” or if that was not possible, some other positive character role. If it was difficult? Indeed… the “Yamada” I saw in the play at Bordaf had a rather… um, umm (clears throat).
Changing the subject, I must not forget about Saga and the others. Saga, without a moment’s thought, flatly refused the invitation to the play, saying, “Of course I’m not interested in plays, you can tell just by looking at me,” and while we were enjoying the performance, he was partying it up at a tavern with his aide, the Holy Knight Adam, and Nelly.
Nelly, feeling lost about what to do now that her duties were over, was whisked away by Saga and Adam under the pretense of seeking advice, and they ended up drinking until they were completely wasted, dragging many others into their revelry.
This was a story I later heard from Camus, the bespectacled aide, who looked pale as a ghost. Saga had covered the costs for everyone, including those who just happened to be there, using part of the reward he received this time to splurge. Was he a star from the Showa era or something? I couldn’t have been mistaken about Camus’s glasses slipping down his nose. Namu.
But still, Saga’s drinking habits were quite alarming. He was downing shots of what seemed like pure alcohol as if it were water, laughing heartily with a loud “Gahaha!” I couldn’t help but wonder if his liver was some kind of monster… but in a world where magic and potions exist, it wouldn’t be surprising if there were potions that directly affected the liver… I decided to convince myself of that.
Huh? Why do I know how Saga drinks? Because I’ve gone drinking with him. Twice, in fact.
The first time was on the first day of the Sealed Domain Conquest Festival, and the second time was the day before the play.
Yes. The night before the play, I was taken to a tavern by the strong men Saga and Adam, who had me tucked under their arms. This could easily be described as abduction or kidnapping. My feelings were akin to those of the Grays from the Roswell Incident.
That night was truly intense among the few days I spent in the Royal Capital. Rather, it was a night of “drinking with a wild bunch.”
Now, let me tell you about that night. It all began when I was surrounded by the two heavy-drinking old men at a noisy tavern, where we gathered around a table.
