Chapter 101: Speaking of Selling Rare Items
The interest in the Magic Flask was astounding. The thermal container developed by the Mimina Trading Company was once considered revolutionary, but this Magic Flask was said to be an invention that far surpassed it. Although I wasn’t the one who invented it, in this Otherworld, there’s no point in worrying about that, so I might as well take pride in it.
“Hehehe… With this, we can give the Mimina Trading Company, who tried to forcibly take our share of the Heavenly Wolf Mushroom, a taste of their own medicine.”
At that moment, Fleur had a slightly mischievous look on her face, but that was fine. Technically, in this world, one would need to use Earth Magic or Wind Magic to create a Magic Flask. To all the mages out there, good luck!
After the Magic Flask, we moved on to games like Reversi, Shogi, and Jenga. I brought out samples made with Earth Magic, and after demonstrating a few, they quickly grasped the concepts.
“It’s simple yet profound…”
I was oddly impressed by their admiration, but to us, these were familiar games that had existed since our childhood. Receiving such high praise for something so commonplace left me with a strange feeling.
Next, we shifted to cooking-related topics, but I certainly wasn’t prepared to demonstrate any dishes. I shared some recipes I knew, but I had no idea how well the chefs could replicate them. However, I was surprised when Fleur reacted to the word “mayonnaise” that I casually mentioned.
“Could it be that you know how to make it!?”
Her enthusiasm was infectious. According to her, it was a condiment developed in the Arclight Kingdom, but the method of preparation seemed to have been lost. They could only import it, but the customs duties for taking it out of the country were prohibitively high, and she had often wondered if there was a way around that.
“If that’s the case, let me teach you how to make it.”
I only knew that it required oil, eggs, and vinegar, and that mixing them would do the trick. But this was Rio’s moment to shine. She had apparently made it at home before being summoned and knew the recipe better than I did. Customs duties in the Arclight Kingdom were irrelevant. We eagerly lectured Fleur on how to make mayonnaise.
“However, please do experiment with the proportions. The ingredients I know and what you can gather here seem to differ slightly.”
“Understood. I’ll leave the trial and error to the chefs.”
“Thank you.”
Just as we took a breather, tea was brought to us. As I took a sip to quench my thirst, I suddenly felt hungry. We had been discussing food, after all.
“It’s already past noon. I would love to delve deeper into this, but I’ve received quite a bit of information, so I need to organize it a bit.”
“No, thank you! This has been incredibly helpful. It seems like we might be able to make a good profit, so please use the funds to the fullest.”
“What are you saying? This has been a tremendous help for us as well. Rest assured, I will apply for patents for everything you’ve taught us.”
It seemed that the patent system existed in this world too. That was a relief. It meant we wouldn’t just be limited to a single sale, and we wouldn’t have to worry about money for ourselves or other workshops in the future.
“The Rashiyu Trading Company will fully back the creations of Lord Shu and Lady Rio.”
To apply for the patent and transfer the funds, we needed to register with the Commercial Guild. Fleur offered to handle that for us, so we simply signed our names on the guild registration documents.
“Please take care of the rest.”
“Leave it to me.”
Initially, Fleur and the others from the trading company were taken aback by the materials we provided, but now they were eager to turn what we offered into cash. They had purchased some items for cash, but due to the high value of the materials we provided, most of them were headed for auction.
“By the way, the auction will be held in the Commercial City. Will you be participating? If you’d like, I can submit your application for auction participation along with your guild registration.”
“Can we participate?”
“Yes. Sellers are allowed to participate in the auction, but an application is required. Of course, your identity as the seller will be kept confidential from other participants, so you can rest easy.”
I see. The very mention of an auction was incredibly enticing. I was curious about it.
“The Commercial City is the town to the north of here, right?”
Rio’s question to Fleur jolted my memory. I hadn’t realized where it was located. Originally, we had been aiming for the sea to the south, but we weren’t in a hurry.
“Yes, that’s correct. It would take about two days by carriage from here.”
“That sounds manageable.”
“Yeah, I’m curious too.”
Rio and I exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. The prospect of participating in the auction was exciting. We might stumble upon some hidden treasures.
“Understood. Then I will submit the application for participation. Also, if it’s not too much trouble, could I request the transportation and escort of the items we plan to auction?”
“Transportation and escort?”
“Yes. With your skills, I would feel much safer.”
When it came to transportation, they were likely referring to our Dimensional Box. If we were to transport our own items for auction, I had no objections. But an escort, huh… I couldn’t help but recall the time when the Guild Master of the Adventurer’s Guild had ranked me as a D-class Adventurer.
