Chapter 11
“Kallion. How was Claude’s training?”
“Claude-sama’s mana capacity is astounding. Even though it was only beginner-level magic, he was casting spells continuously from after lunch until evening without a break, and it seems he still had energy to spare.”
“With Stats like those, I suppose that’s to be expected.”
“Setting his Stats aside for a moment, he also possesses the mental fortitude to diligently persevere through monotonous training that even an adult might shy away from. While now is the time to firmly solidify his fundamentals, it might be best to find another instructor for him besides myself.”
“Hmm. An instructor, you say? It will be difficult to find someone capable of teaching high-rank techniques, but I’ll look into it. I’m counting on you to continue looking after Claude.”
“Yes. Well then, I shall take my leave.”
Before dinner, Claude was taking a bath to wash off his sweat.
He was currently soaking in the bath, looking over his Stats.
“The boons from Stats are really something else, huh.”
Ordinarily, it wasn’t the kind of training a five-year-old could endure, yet despite feeling fatigued, he had managed to keep up.
There were still many skills he hadn’t had a chance to test, but for now, he resolved to focus on thoroughly learning the fundamentals and got out of the bath.
Dinner time.
Having exerted himself, Claude ate more than usual.
He wasn’t consciously aware of it, but his body was craving nourishment.
“Claude. You used magic this afternoon, didn’t you? How did it go?”
“I’m still having trouble with the visualization, so it’s difficult, but it’s fun.”
“I see. You’ve always been so fascinated by magic, haven’t you, Claude?”
“Kaa-sama. If it’s alright with you, could you teach me Utility Magic?”
“I don’t mind, but will you have enough mana?”
“I checked my Stats a little while ago, and it’s fine.”
“I see. In that case, shall we have our lessons in your room?”
And so, his days were spent with Kallion’s special training during the daytime.
And from after dinner until bedtime, he would spend his time repeatedly practicing Utility Magic with his mother, Licia.
After spending a whole month dedicated to thoroughly solidifying his fundamentals, his Stats had fully settled in, and he had become capable of accurately landing his spells without incantations.
“Claude-sama. You’ve worked very hard to get this far. I’d say you’ve pretty much mastered the fundamentals. From now on, we’ll move to practical application in the form of mock battles with me.”
“Yes, Master. I’ll be in your care.”
They faced each other, each holding a wooden sword.
Without any fear, Claude attacked Kallion with a slash from an overhead stance.
Kallion parried it with ease and launched a counter-slash.
Claude dodged, relying on his superior Stats.
After that, offense and defense changed hands rapidly in a breathtaking exchange.
Kallion managed to hold his own relying on his experience, but Claude’s overwhelming Stats were steadily closing the gap between them.
