Chapter 18
“Well now. You’ve trained in Offensive Magic and Support Magic thus far, but today, I intend for you to practice Healing Magic,” Netzal said.
“Practice Healing Magic, you say? But since I’m not injured, how are we to go about it?” I asked.
“It is a simple matter. We merely need to head to a place where the injured gather,” he replied.
“I see. So we should head to a healing clinic, then?”
“Healing clinics charge money for their treatments. It would not be proper to steal their business. Thus, the correct answer is the church. I have asked Finel-dono to make arrangements for the injured from all over town to gather there. You must put your heart into this!”
“I will do my very best.”
Netzal and I boarded the prepared carriage and headed for the church.
When we arrived at the church, a great many people were lined up.
The carriage slowly pulled up beside the church entrance. When we disembarked, the priest-san who had assisted with my Baptism was there to greet us.
“We have been awaiting your arrival. I hear you will be tending to the injured today free of charge. We are deeply grateful. Please, this way.”
Following behind the priest-san, I stepped into the church.
The room I was led to was modest but impeccably clean.
“I shall offer advice,” Netzal stated, “but I will not lend a hand directly, so you must endeavor on your own.”
“I’ll give it my all.”
Under the guidance of a church official, the first of the injured were promptly shown in.
I assessed the state of each injury, visualized how it could be healed, and then cast my Healing Magic.
“Oh! My injury… it’s really healed! Thank you, thank you so much!” one exclaimed.
One after another, the injured came, and I healed them with single-minded focus.
Most people had minor afflictions like superficial cuts or sprains, so I healed them relatively quickly.
Whenever I was unsure how to treat an injury, Netzal would offer advice, so up to now, there hasn’t been anyone I couldn’t heal.
The stream of patients finally broke for a moment.
“You’ve worked hard,” the priest-san said. “It is but a humble meal, but we have prepared something for you. Please, take this opportunity to rest and eat.”
I had been so engrossed I hadn’t realized how much time had passed, but now that it was pointed out, I did feel hungry.
“Thank you very much. I’ll gladly take you up on your offer.”
Guided by the priest-san, I left the treatment room.
The meal prepared for me was some hard-baked bread and a hearty vegetable soup that had been simmered for a long time.
“Please, have some of this as well, if you would,” a sister-san said, pouring me a cup of herbal tea and offering it to me.
“Mm,” Netzal hummed. “This brew dispels fatigue and has a calming effect, does it not?”
After enjoying the meal and teatime, I returned to the treatment room and once again began attending to the injured.
By the time I had finished with the last patient, evening had fallen. I boarded the carriage that had come to fetch me and returned to the mansion.
