Chapter 19
Today, after breakfast, I had come to the guest room that Netzal was being lent.
Inside the room, tools that would likely be used for alchemy were lined up.
“The materials I requested from Finel-dono have arrived, so today I shall have you learn the basics of alchemy, yes?”
“Yes.”
“First, we’ll start by grinding the ingredients.”
Claude proceeded to grind the designated medicinal herbs with a mortar and pestle.
“Hmm, hmm. That should do for the medicinal herbs. Next, using this mortar here, you’ll grind the magic stones until they’re a fine powder. The mortar and pestle for grinding magic stones have magic circles carved into them, you see, so you absolutely must use this specific mortar and pestle, understood?”
“Understood.”
He put the magic stones into the mortar and ground them until they became a fine powder.
“When that’s done, you’ll measure out the ground medicinal herbs and magic stones with these scales. If you don’t measure the amounts precisely, the quality won’t be stable, so this is an important step, mind you.”
He carefully measured the amounts and divided them into small portions.
“It’s done.”
“Well then, it’s finally time to put the ingredients into the Alchemy Pot and mix them thoroughly.”
He mixed the medicinal herb and magic stone powder until it was uniform.
“Lastly, you’ll channel your mana into the Alchemy Pot. I imagine you won’t know the appropriate amount of mana at first, so make sure to pour it in little by little, alright?”
Placing his hands on the Alchemy Pot, he channeled mana into it bit by bit.
When a certain amount of mana had been channeled into it, the Alchemy Pot began to glow.
“It seems to be a success. Once it’s complete, pour it into a potion vial, and it’s done. The potion vials have magic circles inscribed on them, which allows them to be preserved for a long period.”
He poured the completed Recovery Potion into a potion vial and closed the lid.
“And that’s all there is to making a Lesser Recovery Potion. Simple, wasn’t it?”
“So this is alchemy, huh.”
“When making more potent items, the number of ingredients or the amount of mana required might increase, but fundamentally, it’s just about processing the ingredients appropriately and infusing them with mana. So you don’t forget the feel of it, you just need to repeat the process.”
“I’ll do my best.”
From then on, Claude diligently ground medicinal herbs and magic stones, measured the amounts, and repeatedly concocted Lesser Recovery Potions in the Alchemy Pot.
He took a break for lunch partway through, but afterwards, he energetically continued working. When he ran out of materials, fortunately, the medicinal herbs he was currently using were ones I had gathered in the forest, so I took more out of my Item Box, allowing him to continue the work.
The large quantity of Lesser Recovery Potions that were made would be sold through Finel, entering the distribution channels of a merchant company he favored, and would generate a certain amount of profit.
Many requests for gathering medicinal herbs were also issued to the Adventurers’ Guild, which also led to the stabilization of income for low-rank adventurers.
