Chapter 52
Claude, after returning from the Royal Capital, was making a plan to fulfill the duty he had been entrusted with.
Drawing upon his knowledge from his gaming days and the experience he had gained from his travels so far, he selected efficient hunting grounds.
The equipment issued to the kingdom’s common soldiers could hardly be called high-quality, even as a compliment.
“Considering quality and mass producibility, I guess Lizardmen are the way to go, huh? Their parts aren’t alchemy materials, so I’ve never been to their dungeon, but I can just fly close by and then travel from there.”
He put the necessary items into his Item Box and proceeded with his preparations.
Since he would be staying in the dungeon for several days, he went to greet his father-sama and mother-sama.
“Father-sama. Mother-sama. I’m going to the dungeon for a few days.”
“Alright. Be careful out there.”
“Knowing you, Claude, I think you’ll be fine, but just don’t overdo it, okay?”
Cutting his greetings short, he teleported to the closest point.
Using the item, the Griffon Flute, he summoned a Griffon, checked the dungeon’s location on the map, and flew off.
Normally, even the shortest route would have required passing through a forest, so the journey should have taken a long time. But, because he traveled by air, he arrived at the target dungeon in just a few hours. However, his arrival on a Griffon caused a bit of a commotion.
He was challenged by the soldiers managing the dungeon, demanding to know who he was, but they backed down when he presented his baron certificate.
Because Lizardman hides were popular as materials, there were many adventurers around. However, he passed by them and quickly entered the dungeon.
A veteran adventurer party, worried upon seeing a child enter alone, hurriedly chased after him, only to end up utterly dumbfounded.
They caught up with him near the entrance, only to be confronted with the sight of the child they had chased out of concern—who, without even drawing his sword, was casting magic without incantations and utterly dominating the Lizardmen.
“We chased after him ’cause we were worried, but what the hell is that? He’s a monster, ain’t he?”
“Come to think of it, there was that ‘Child Dungeon Rusher’ who was famous for a while… no way, right?”
“He’s already gone deeper into the dungeon. Guess we’ll take a different route to hunt.”
The adventurers changed their course and began to search for prey.
“To hunt efficiently, I really need to aim for deeper levels, huh.”
In dungeons, the number of monsters on the shallower floors was small, with a tendency for the spawn count to increase the deeper one delved.
Claude aimed for his target floor via the shortest route, taking care of any Lizardmen he encountered along the way.
Lizardmen dropped magic stones and, as loot, hides and crude iron spears and swords, so he quickly collected them.
The crude swords and spears, if melted down and reforged, could be made into decent weapons, so it was killing two birds with one stone.
