Chapter 63
“Father. We shall gratefully make use of this. With this much funding, the town should be up and running smoothly in no time.”
“Hmm. You’re right. Claude, I’ll definitely pay you back, so I’ll gratefully borrow it.”
“A town? It doesn’t seem like there are any problems with its current state.”
“The current state of the town is fine. However, we’re in a situation where we can’t provide an adequate environment for the immigrating residents. So, we’ve decided to build a new town.”
“If that’s the case, then for complete water and sewage systems, perhaps having these kinds of things would be beneficial?”
Finel and Fahrenheit were thoroughly impressed with Claude as he, relying on the memories of his past life, listed one after another the things he thought would be nice to have.
Fahrenheit supplemented the vague parts, refining them into a feasible plan.
“Hmm. I see. It will cost a fair amount of money, but if we introduce it experimentally and it works out well, let’s introduce it to other cities as well.”
Even after that, they engaged in a heated discussion about how to create an even better town.
Around the time the plan was completed, there was a knock on the study door, and a servant entered.
“Master. Dinner is ready.”
“Is it that time already? Let’s wrap this up for today and have dinner.”
The three of them amicably headed to the dining hall and took their seats.
Mother, who was watching them, teased.
“The three of you together, you get along so well, don’t you?”
“Fufu. Are you jealous?”
“Everyone has been so busy lately, so I’ve been lonely, you know.”
“It’s true that the time we spend together as a family might have been decreasing. I’ll try to do better.”
The meal proceeded in a peaceful atmosphere.
“Claude, you’ve been going out for long periods often recently. What have you been up to, I wonder?”
“Yes. I’ve been out gathering materials needed for the munitions entrusted to me by His Majesty.”
“I see. You’re not overdoing it, are you?”
“I’m not overdoing it at all. If it’s too much for me alone, I have Netzal-san accompany me.”
Claude amusingly recounted stories to his Mother about his time gathering materials.
Finel, who heard that story, spoke to Fahrenheit in a low voice.
“I knew Claude had commissioned something from the blacksmith, but do you know the details?”
“No. I will check on it later.”
“I’m counting on you.”
After finishing the meal, Fahrenheit, in order to confirm what Claude was up to, directly visited the blacksmith he patronized.
Because blacksmiths make a lot of noise, their working hours are strictly regulated, so the place was now a quiet space.
“Sorry to bother you at this hour.”
The master blacksmith, having finished his forging work for the day, greeted him.
“Fahrenheit-sama. Is something the matter at this late hour?”
“Claude should have commissioned some work from you; I wish to know the details.”
The master blacksmith, though puzzled, began to explain the details.
