Chapter 206: A Lowly Angel
More than fifty Seekers stepped into the large hole as if drawn in.
The mid-level of the Dungeon that Yuma saw was unlike any labyrinth he had seen before. An artificial structure resembling stacked gray bricks.
The group walked along the straight passage in a long line.
After a while, they came to an open space. This time, it was a small dome-shaped room.
Yuma and the others had underestimated the situation, assuming that since it was only the first floor, no significant Monsters would appear. However, they noticed the tension in the air.
There seemed to be something in the center of the dome.
Yuma and his two companions pushed through the crowd to the front. When their view cleared, they saw a white, humanoid Monster.
It was about 170 centimeters tall, with no hair or face, resembling a mannequin.
“What… is that?”
Yuma muttered, and Akito, who was behind him, replied.
“That… isn’t that an angel?”
“Huh?”
Angel? A question mark appeared in Yuma’s mind. He had never heard of such a Monster. Akito noticed Yuma’s confusion and shook his head, opening his mouth.
“Angels are rare Monsters found in the White Dungeon. They supposedly appear from the shallow floors, but I’ve heard they’re strong. I don’t know much about them, but an average Seeker would have trouble with it, right?
“So, that thing is strong too?”
“Well, even so, it seems to be the lowest-ranking angel. It shouldn’t be that strong. Let’s see what the Indonesian Seekers can do.”
With that, Akito thrust his Gae Bolg into the floor and crossed his arms, watching how things would unfold.
Rui didn’t seem to be fighting either. Yuma felt a sense of urgency, but he decided to follow Akito’s advice and leave it to Rachmad and the others.
◇◇◇
Rachmad drew his Longsword from his waist. It was a Magic Enchanted Armament modeled after the Indonesian holy sword, Kris.
He slowly channeled Magical Power into it, igniting flames.
Rachmad dashed forward and slashed at once.
The sweeping slash bisected the angel’s torso. The white body split into two. Rachmad turned around and shouted loudly.
“Now! Press the attack!!”
The Seekers of the Seeker Clan attacked all at once.
Weapons imbued with Wind, Fire, and Lightning pierced the angel’s body. Just when it seemed the battle was over, the angel’s body swelled up rapidly.
“Damn it! Not enough Magical Power?”
Rachmad clicked his tongue. The two swollen bodies rapidly shrunk and transformed back into humanoid forms.
Two angels appeared. Yuma and the others couldn’t believe their eyes that the initial low-ranking angel had multiplied.
“Oi oi oi oi, what is that!?”
Akito directed a bewildered gaze. While the three were shaken, the bodies that had been slashed by the Seekers swelled up again.
This time, there were four in total. The angels stood there as if nothing had happened.
The Zarama’s Seeker Clan also joined in, and dozens of people attacked, but the angels skillfully evaded the attacks.
Zarama’s slash, imbued with Lightning, tore through an angel.
However, the discarded angel’s body swelled up and transformed into another angel. The number of angels was now five.
“If you don’t defeat them in one hit, they split and multiply! We should join in too!”
Rui placed his hand on the hilt of his Katana. Akito said, “Yeah, let’s do it!” and grabbed his spear.
But the two stopped moving abruptly. An intense heat wave was coming from behind them.
The two turned around and gasped.
Yuma’s body was dyed black, with many red streaks running through it. The weapon he held had also changed from a Pickel to a Hammer.
Steam billowed from his entire body, and the ground beneath his feet was bubbling.
Anyone who approached Yuma now would not come out unscathed. Rui and Akito took a step back, then another.
“I’ll go. I can’t afford to dawdle on the first floor!”
“Yuma, be careful. Even though it’s a low-ranking angel, it seems quite strong.”
Yuma replied, “Yeah, I know,” to Rui’s words and put strength into the Hammer he held.
The surface of the metal-coated Hammer had magma-like blood vessels flowing through it. Yuma kicked off the boiling ground and charged towards the angels.
◇◇◇
Rachmad poured all his Magical Power into his Longsword.
Before him was a low-ranking angel inhabiting the White Dungeon, a Principality.
Originally, it should have been a Monster located in a deeper layer. Rachmad was surprised that it was in such a place, but he couldn’t turn back.
If time passed, many angels would appear on the ground.
He had to defeat them at this opportunity, with all his forces committed. Rachmad held up his sword, which was spewing flames, and thrust it into the angel’s chest.
The flames spread throughout the enemy’s body, engulfing it in a vortex of fire.
The burnt angel’s body began to crumble and returned to sand.
“One down… damn it! I used too much Magical Power?”
There were still four angels left. He had taken too long to hunt one.
Rachmad turned around and watched the other Seekers fight. Zarama seemed to be fighting well, but the others were struggling.
If he attacked carelessly, the number of angels might increase again.
Rachmad raised his Longsword and was about to join the attack when he suddenly caught sight of something.
A body burning bright red.
Carrying a large Hammer, it was running towards him.
For a moment, Rachmad thought it was a new Monster, but it wasn’t. On closer inspection, it was a human.
The black body had many red streaks running through it, glowing like magma.
“That’s… the Seeker from Japan!”
The red-glowing man kicked off the ground and jumped.
He raised his Hammer and aimed at the angel below. The blow, swung down with terrifying speed, exploded on the angel’s head.
A large explosion occurred, and the upper half of the angel’s body was blown away.
Rachmad couldn’t believe his eyes. The lower half of the angel’s body had charred wounds, and it turned to sand without regenerating.
The man lifted his Hammer and, as if nothing had happened, turned his eyes to another angel.
“Is that Explosion Magic!? What… is he?”
