Episode 220: Urgent News
Inside the spacious tent, a wooden table and simple chairs were placed. It seemed that luggage and weapons were kept to a minimum.
“Well, please, have a seat.”
The three sat on the chairs around the table, looking around with curiosity.
Dasha said with a light laugh, “I’m sorry, but I can’t even offer you tea. I don’t keep unnecessary things here.”
Rui said, “No, please don’t worry about it,” and then,
“Is it really okay to have such a simple tent? If we’re attacked by Monsters, we won’t stand a chance…”
Dasha smiled, “Fufu.”
“That’s right. Monster attacks are commonplace here. Moreover, the world’s largest Green Dungeon is located in the mountains, tens of kilometers from here. It wouldn’t be surprising if Monsters attacked at any moment.”
“So, you’re deliberately using a simple tent so that you can be attacked?”
To Rui’s question, Dasha quietly nodded.
“If there’s a Monster stampede, we have no choice but to run. Tents are easy to move, and even if they’re destroyed, the cost is low.”
Dasha sat across the table, while Kaira stood behind him.
Her eyes looking at us are kind of scary… but is it just my imagination? Avoiding Kaira’s sharp gaze, Yuma turned his eyes to Dasha.
“Now, the reason I asked you to come here is none other than to discuss our plans for the future. As I said earlier, to the west of here is the world’s largest Green Dungeon, ‘Dvarapala’.”
“Yes.”
Rui nodded and straightened his back.
“Your abilities are probably among the strongest of the Seekers here. Therefore, when you dive into the Dungeon, I want you to stand on the front lines. Is that alright?”
Dasha said in a probing tone. Perhaps he was reluctant to send outsiders to the front lines.
“I don’t mind at all. That’s what I was planning to do anyway.”
As always, Akito answered in a light tone.
–Well, with these two, including me, we should be able to defeat even Abyssal Monsters… so there shouldn’t be any particular problem.
“That’s reassuring. Thank you. Oh, and–you.”
Pointed at by Dasha, Yuma made a surprised expression, “Eh, me?”
“Yes, you. Let’s see, your name is…”
“Mitaka Yuma.”
“Ah, Mitaka-kun. I don’t recommend that you go to the Dungeon. ‘Dvarapala’ is a truly dangerous place. We can’t guarantee your safety, so I want you to stay in a safe place.”
“Eh? But, well…”
When Yuma looked at his neighbor in confusion, Rui lowered his eyebrows, and Akito laughed happily, “Hihihihi.”
He seemed to be enjoying the situation. I have to do something myself.
“No, I’m going too. I can fight just fine.”
When Yuma leaned forward and said that, Kaira, who was behind him, clicked her tongue, “Tch.”
“That’s why amateurs are like this… This isn’t some half-baked battlefield. I’ve seen many comrades killed like insects. That’s why we’re asking those without power to leave.”
Yuma became hesitant at Kaira’s irritated words.
He whispered to Rui, who was sitting next to him, “What should I do about this?” Rui also made a troubled face and whispered.
“We’ll persuade them later. Wait, we’ll figure something out.”
“That’s right! If you appeal that you can use Recovery Magic, it might work out!”
Yuma said as if he had an idea, but Rui shook his head slightly.
“If they find out you can use Recovery Magic, you’ll definitely be assigned to rear support. It’s a golden rule to put the Messiah in the safest place.”
Yuma gnashed his teeth, “Gunuunu.” It seemed he couldn’t do anything himself.
Just as he was thinking that he had no choice but to leave it to the two of them, he heard the voices of people shouting loudly from outside the tent. Not just one or two people, either.
A large number of people were making a commotion about something.
“Hmm? What’s going on?”
Dasha stood up, and Kaira also looked tense. Footsteps could be heard from beyond the tent, and a man jumped in.
“I-It’s terrible!!”
It was an Indian Seeker. He was wearing a battle suit and holding a slightly large axe in his right hand.
“What’s wrong?”
When Dasha asked with a frown, the man answered with a pale face.
“M-Monster horde! It seems a large number of them are coming from the northwest, and they’ve already surrounded the area!!”
“What… how many?”
“I don’t know exactly, but I think there are thousands…”
Dasha, with a stern face, immediately left the tent. Kaira and Yuma also followed.
Outside, the sun had completely set, and it was dim. A lukewarm wind caressed their cheeks, and only an eerie rustling could be heard.
“This is bad… A large-scale attack like this is rare, but did we provoke them by gathering so many Seekers?”
Dasha pondered for a moment, but then said, “Well, whatever,” and gave instructions to Kaira.
“We’re retreating. Kaira, tell everyone to escape.”
“Understood.”
Kaira and the man who came to report both ran off to convey the order to their comrades.
“I’m sorry. You’ve been caught up in something terrible so soon.”
“No, it’s nothing like that…”
Rui replied hesitantly. Dasha drew the Longsword he had at his waist and held it horizontally.
A beautiful Hamon pattern floated on the curved Indian sword. Yuma was fascinated, wondering if this was his Magic Enchanted Armament.
It was that beautiful of a sword.
“It seems that Monsters are also rushing towards our retreat route. I’ll take the lead and clear a path. Will you help me?”
Asked by Dasha, Akito answered, “Of course.” And Rui also nodded with a serious expression.
“Of course. So, we just need to defeat the enemies in the southeast, right?”
“That’s right. We have prepared a shelter in the town of Asgard in case of such situations. But Monsters should also be coming from the mountains in the northwest. We must complete the retreat before those Monsters catch up.”
“Understood.”
Rui answered strongly. Of course, Yuma was also eager to fight, but all three of them had left their weapons in the car they came in.
“I’ll go get my weapon, so wait a minute.”
“I’ll be right back!”
Akito and Rui ran off, and Yuma followed them. As he ran, he looked back and saw the Indian Seekers gathering around Dasha.
Everyone had a serious face. It was truly a tense situation.
When Yuma and the others returned to the car they had come in, they opened the trunk and took out the bags inside.
It was the Magic Enchanted Armament they had brought.
“Yuma, Rui and I will secure the retreat route with Dasha and let everyone escape. You defeat the Monsters coming from behind. If we’re attacked from the front and back, we’ll be caught in a pincer attack.”
“Ah, got it!”
Just as Yuma was about to run towards the mountains, Rui called out to him.
“Yuma, don’t push yourself too hard.”
“You’re the one who shouldn’t push yourself too hard.”
Yuma and the two parted ways and ran in opposite directions.
