Episode 25: The Mystery of Yellow and Green
The next morning, when Yuma peered into the hole in the garden, he found—
“Green again, huh!”
A vividly metallic green Slime was wriggling inside the hole.
Yuma prepared extra cans of cooling spray and gas burner fuel.
“Alright! I’m all set.”
He put strength into his body with a grunt, turning his entire body into steel. He jumped into the hole and faced the Green Slime.
The Slime moved cautiously to the edge of the hole, but when Yuma sprayed it with cooling spray, it became enraged and attacked.
Yuma staggered from the body blow, but he sprayed back with the cooling spray.
It was difficult to catch the fast-moving Slime, but he kept spraying, filling the narrow hole with cold air.
The temperature steadily dropped, and the Green Slime’s movements became sluggish.
In contrast, Yuma was able to move without issue because he had ‘Cold Resistance.’
“Alright! Once I stop its movement, it’s mine!”
He focused the cold air on it, completely stopping its movement. This time, he held two gas burners and shot flames with both hands.
He rapidly raised the temperature, inflicting massive damage on the Green Slime.
It pounced the moment it was thawed, but no matter how many times it rammed into him, he felt nothing.
It was helpful that he could concentrate on attacking because his defense was perfect.
After repeating this several times, he swung the hammer down on the Slime, which had become tattered, and finished it off.
He picked up the “Green Demon Ore,” which was left alone on the ground, and stared at it in a bright place.
It was a beautiful metallic emerald green.
After washing it in the kitchen sink, he swallowed it without hesitation. His whole body became hot.
There was no particular change in his body, but Yuma had an idea about the effects of the “Demon Ore” that had appeared yesterday and today.
“Well, I’ll verify it when I get back.”
Yuma got ready as usual and left the house to go to school.
◇◇◇
On the way home from school, Yuma walked while searching on his smartphone.
“Hmm, it’s gotta be this, right?”
What was displayed was a site explaining the characteristics of Dungeons. The six Dungeons and the “Magic Gems” generated in each were summarized.
White Dungeon (White or transparent Magic Gem. Healing magic can be used)
Red Dungeon (Red Magic Gem. Fire magic can be used)
Blue Dungeon (Blue Magic Gem. Water magic can be used)
Yellow Dungeon (Yellow Magic Gem. Thunder magic can be used)
Green Dungeon (Green Magic Gem. Wind magic can be used)
Black Dungeon (Demon Ore. Physical Enhancement? can be used)
Considering the characteristics of these Dungeons and the ‘Colored’ Demon Ores that have appeared recently, Red is ‘Fire Resistance,’ and Blue is ‘Water Resistance.’
And Yellow is ‘Lightning Resistance,’ and Green is ‘Wind Resistance,’ right?
I’m probably right, but I can’t say for sure until I check.
Yuma returned home, changed from his school uniform into casual clothes, and rushed out on his bicycle.
His destination was the large electronics retail store where he bought the Mana Index Meter.
He parked his bicycle in a corner of the retail store’s parking lot, ran up the stairs, and went to the ‘Dungeon Related’ corner.
Among the various items on display, his eyes were caught by stun guns and electric batons.
It seemed like he couldn’t try them out, so he had to buy one.
The expensive ones cost tens of thousands of yen, but the cheapest stun gun was available for 4980 yen. He picked it up, thinking this would do.
He bought the stun gun, returned home, opened the box, and inserted the large rectangular battery.
“This should work now.”
When he pressed the switch, thin sparks of electricity burst out.
Yuma put strength into his body, “Metallized,” and rolled up the sleeve of his left arm. He brought the stun gun he held in his right hand closer.
If it’s metal, it should conduct electricity.
Feeling a little scared, he pressed the stun gun against his arm.
“Ugh! It doesn’t hurt…? I’m okay!”
As he thought, it didn’t conduct any electricity at all. He had gained ‘Lightning Resistance.’
Yuma rejoiced that his prediction was correct. If so, the Green Demon Ore must be ‘Wind Resistance.’
He heard that a master of powerful Wind Magic could cut steel in two. In that case, Wind Magic might be the scariest.
Yuma shuddered.
However, there was no way to test Wind Magic.
“Anyway, this means I’ve gained resistance to all four attack magics: ‘Fire,’ ‘Water,’ ‘Thunder,’ and ‘Wind’! Isn’t this pretty amazing!?”
Yuma was excited and happy, but he immediately realized.
Even with such abilities, they were of no use in everyday life.
