Black Steel King – Chapter 277

Chapter 275: Two Fronts

Having emerged from the alleyway and onto a large street, Emilia and the others were bewildered by the tremendous explosion.

“What was that? What kind of sound?”

Emilia stopped, looking back in the direction they had come from. Wolfgang and Muller, also concerned, halted.
However, from here, the buildings obstructed their view, making it impossible to discern what had happened.

“Hey, Emilia. Can’t we see from the roof of that building?”

Wolfgang pointed in a direction. There stood a relatively undamaged five-story commercial building.
It was at a safe distance from the battlefield. Emilia, wanting to confirm, looked at Muller.
Muller seemed to share the same thought, nodding in agreement.
The four, including Felix, ascended the building’s emergency stairs and stepped onto the roof. Since the taller buildings had collapsed, they could overlook the city from this rooftop.
The sight that greeted them left them speechless.

“Oi, oi, oi, what the hell is that!?”

Wolfgang doubted his own eyes. The conglomerate of black rubble had grown even larger, its height easily exceeding a hundred meters.
It was truly an extraordinary monster. But what captivated the four was not the conglomerate.
Standing against the giant monster was the [Black Giant].
Its body glowed red, and with agility that belied its size, it repeatedly struck the conglomerate.
Each punch was accompanied by flames and violent explosions.
The conglomerate’s body crumbled, appearing to be pushed back. When the giant stopped moving, its body began to glow green.
Against the mountain of rubble charging head-on, the giant punched straight through.
An extraordinary windstorm arose, nearly blowing Emilia and the others away. Managing to endure and raise their heads, they saw the conglomerate’s head gouged out.
The rubble that made up the monster’s body flew into the air, falling to the ground with heavy thuds, raising clouds of dust.
For a moment, the conglomerate swayed, but it did not relent in its attacks.
It threw its entire weight onto the giant, crushing it. The earth shook violently, and with a deafening roar, dust and smoke erupted.
The battle was decided. Or so Emilia and the others thought, but as a crushing impact echoed, something shot out from the mountain of rubble.
It was the giant, glowing green. Piercing through the conglomerate’s body, it soared into the sky as if dancing.
–What is that giant!?
Before Emilia could fully register her surprise, the giant extended a sword from its hand, gathering green light.
Swinging the sword from above, it generated a Wind Blade. It was a large “blade” clearly visible even to Emilia, a non-Seeker.
The wind sliced through the conglomerate’s body, which lay prostrate on the ground, and even cleaved the earth in two.

“Oooooooooooo…”

A groan seemed to rise from the depths of hell. The conglomerate was clearly in agony.
Without a moment’s pause, the giant swung its sword a second, a third time. The Wind Blades struck the conglomerate directly, tearing its body apart and blowing it away.
The wind’s impact swept away the surrounding buildings, leaving long, large “rifts” in the ground.
It spoke volumes about the power of the giant’s “wind.”

“Hey, that… that’s the transformed form of a Japanese Seeker, right?”

Unable to believe it, Wolfgang furrowed his brow and muttered. Emilia had been thinking the same thing.
The giant rampaging now was like a larger version of the [Black Monster] that the Japanese Seeker had transformed into.
Its appearance was more sinister, but there was no mistaking it.

“Oi, oi, are you serious!? Is this real!? Can Seekers really grow giant and fight monsters?”

To Wolfgang’s statement, Muller retorted, “Don’t be an idiot!”

“There’s no way a Seeker could do something like that! No, there shouldn’t be… but what is that form?”

While Wolfgang and Muller were talking, Felix placed his hands on the broken lattice fence of the roof, leaning forward.
He stared intently at the battle in the distance, a smile on his face.

“Hey, hey… can’t we win this? That giant is incredibly strong!”

Emilia, who was right behind Felix, also turned her gaze to the battle between the conglomerate and the giant.
Indeed, each time the giant swung its powerful arms, a fierce explosion occurred.
The conglomerate’s body was gradually being chipped away, and it writhed in agony. Could they really win? Against that monster that defied imagination?
Emilia could only watch the battle with mixed feelings of doubt and hope.
At that moment, Felix exclaimed, “Ah!” When Emilia asked, “What’s wrong?” and approached, he pointed to the street below.
Emilia leaned forward and looked down. It was the place where they had been just moments ago.
What appeared as small dots was another Japanese person, Amasawa Rui. And facing him was the [Dark Knight (Donkel Ritter)], who had slaughtered many Seekers.
The two glared at each other, on the verge of confrontation. Emilia swallowed hard.
–Fighting that Dark Knight (Donkel Ritter) alone… is he serious?
Ignoring Emilia’s anxiety, the two gradually closed the distance.

◇◇◇

Yuma was holding down the conglomerate. He had to defeat this guy now.
Rui held his Scorching Blade low, approaching his opponent little by little. Considering the Dark Knight (Donkel Ritter)’s speed, he couldn’t let his guard down for even a moment.
Or so he thought, but the opponent disappeared from his sight.

“Eh?”

Before he knew it, he sensed a presence behind him. He had already been outflanked.
Before Rui could turn around, the longsword held by the Dark Knight (Donkel Ritter) was swung down. A long, ominous single-edged sword.
Just as the tip of the sword was about to strike Rui’s head, small explosions erupted with a “thud, thud.”
The Dark Knight (Donkel Ritter)’s sword bounced up, and he cautiously jumped back. Rui also created distance at the same time.
The two faced each other again. But the scene that unfolded was different from before.
Sparkling lights danced around Rui. Although the lights were very small, there were many of them, floating in the air as if protecting Rui.

“A simple speed contest won’t win me this. I’ve been thinking about a strategy to defeat you. And this is the answer.”

Rui gently touched one of the “lights” dancing around him. The light burst with a “pop,” spewing flames and disappearing.

“Firefly Light… if touched, it causes a small explosion. I’ve deployed a type of [Fire Magic] that I use around me. No matter how fast you are, it’s impossible to approach without touching these. Your movements will be hindered by the explosions, and I can instantly know your location.”

It was a strategy based on the assumption that the opponent had no long-range attacks. Rui smiled slightly.

“Well, I’ve crippled your legs. What will you do next?”
