“Damn!”
Hans barely dodged the tip of the icicle.
On the other side, Charlotte seemed to have avoided the icicle as well. The fact that they were both users of [Thunder Magic] worked in their favor.
Thunder users can speed up the electrical signals in their bodies, greatly improving their reflexes.
This level of surprise attack was within expectations.
Hans jumped back once to regain his posture and then slashed again. The sword imbued with “Lightning” bisected several icicles.
Charlotte was also slashing with a sword imbued with “Fire” and “Lightning.”
–If we can just keep pushing like this!
Just as Hans was about to increase the speed of his attacks, a torrent of water poured down from the sky.
“Tch!”
Hans clicked his tongue as he leaped backward.
The concrete in front of him was destroyed, leaving a deep hole. Water Breath!
When Hans looked up, the Blue Dragon hovering in the sky was flapping its wings and looking down at them.
So, it wasn’t going to be so easy as to just watch silently.
Other Blue Dragons were also spewing Water Breath. Hans and Charlotte evaded all of those attacks, glaring at the sky.
While the two were focused on defense, the giant Dragon returned to its original state.
While maintaining the characteristics of “Water,” its body grew crystal-like ice horns in places. It raised its head high and spewed a large amount of water from its mouth.
The amount of water was incomparable to that of a normal Blue Dragon.
Hans managed to avoid it, but the Water Breath blew away a military vehicle and destroyed the outer wall of “The Oval.”
Everyone was speechless at the sheer power.
But the Monsters didn’t care. The Blue Dragons flying around in the sky let out shrill cries and attacked all at once.
They couldn’t just stand still.
Hans ran to Leila’s side.
“Prime Minister, this place is done for! We have no choice but to escape!!”
“B-but, how!? We can’t escape when we’re surrounded like this, can we?”
Leila was right. If they could defeat that giant Dragon, there would still be a chance.
But that was impossible. The possibility of survival was now close to zero.
Even so–
“The entrance to The Oval has been destroyed, making it impossible to enter. We have no choice but to evacuate north. I’ll clear a path, so please run with the SPs!”
Hans forcibly stood Leila up, pushed her back, and made her run.
Looking back, Charlotte was attacking the giant Dragon, and Andrew was firing wildly at the Dragons in the sky.
They were drawing attention to themselves to let them escape.
If the Dragons chased after them, there would be no hope of survival. Hans thanked Charlotte and the others and started running with Leila.
The Prime Minister’s SPs, soldiers, and civilians who were trying to evacuate followed.
He was the only one who could save these people. Hans thought so, but dozens of Monsters stood in their way.
It wasn’t a number he could defeat while protecting the people.
–Damn it! Is this it…?
Just as Hans was about to give up, the surroundings brightened, and an ear-splitting roar rang out.
“What!?”
Surprised, he turned around and saw the giant Dragon smoking and slowly tilting.
What happened!? Hans shifted his gaze to the sky. There, something was floating.
He could only see the silhouette against the backlight, but it looked like a person was riding on a long stick.
Like a witch on a broom. Hans thought about such a thing while harboring a sense of caution toward the figure floating in the sky.
However, the abnormality wasn’t just in the sky.
“H-Hans! Look at that!!”
Hans snapped back to reality at Leila’s voice. An unbelievable sight was unfolding there.
The heads of the Fish-men blocking their path were exploding like popcorn. Hans was confused, not knowing what was happening.
But the next moment, he saw a man stopping with his sword swung down. That was–
“Amasawa… Amasawa Rui!!”
Leila’s eyes widened at Hans’ loud voice.
“W-who is that!? Isn’t he one of your subordinates?”
“Prime Minister, that’s him. The Seeker who came from Japan!”
“Eh!? Why is a Japanese Seeker here…”
Ignoring the confused Leila, Hans quickly moved his gaze. If Amasawa was here, that meant he was here too.
Then, he was able to find that figure immediately.
A large frog Monster was flying through the air. It was slammed into the ground, let out a “Gueh” cry, and turned into sand.
Beyond that, a Black Monster with a hammer was standing with its back to them.
It was undoubtedly [Black Armor], Mitaka Yuma. If that was the case, the one in the sky might be their companion. They came to help them. To help them.
Hans felt a surge of emotion.
They had come all the way from Japan to provide assistance, but the British government’s response had been extremely rude. They couldn’t complain if they were abandoned. And yet–
“I’m sorry, you guys! I’m saved.”
When Hans shouted his thanks, Amasawa Rui turned his gaze toward him.
“Hans-san, we’ll take it from here! Please evacuate immediately with those people!”
“Ah, understood!”
Hans urged Leila, “Come, let’s go.” Leila responded with “Yes,” and started running with dozens of civilians.
Looking back, Amasawa and Mitaka were fighting a large number of Monsters.
Amasawa was slashing and killing Monsters at a tremendous speed, and Mitaka was blowing away large Monsters with his power.
While thanking them, Hans looked forward and quickened his pace.
◇◇◇
“Yuma! I’m counting on you to take down that big Dragon!”
“Yeah, got it!!”
Yuma, having smashed the head of a giant crab with his hammer, ran straight towards the ridiculously large Dragon.
Coming closer, its strangeness became clear.
Its body surface was transparent, and you could see through it. It was as if “Water” itself had formed the shape of a [Dragon].
Just as Yuma was about to step forward with his Pickel-turned-Hammer, a voice came down from the sky.
“Oi! Wait, wait! That’s my prey!!”
Looking up at the sky, Akito on Gae Bolg was descending.
“Prey… It doesn’t matter who defeats it, does it?”
“Of course it matters! This is the perfect opponent to test the power of Gae Bolg Mark II, and more than anything, it looks strong. I should be the one to fight it since I’m strong against ‘Water Monsters’!”
It felt forceful, but Akito’s [Thunder Magic] would indeed be most effective against “Water Monsters.”
Yuma was wondering if he should leave it to him when he heard countless shrill voices.
Four “Blue Dragons” were attacking Akito.
“Ah!? What are these guys?”
Akito manipulated Gae Bolg, skillfully dodging the Dragons’ attacks. It seemed that he had been spotted by the Blue Dragons because he was wandering around in the sky.
“Akito! I’m counting on you over there. I’ll take this one down.”
“What did you say!? You’re taking my prey without permission…”
Akito was indignant, but he was chased by the Blue Dragons and had no choice but to ascend into the sky.
It should be fine to leave that side to him. Yuma held up his hammer, glaring at the giant Dragon in front of him.
“Well then, time to settle this quickly.”
