Episode 310: A Flash Running Through the Sky
“Everyone! Fire at will!!”
Andrew and the other soldiers fired their rifles at the sky.
Assaulting them was a single Blue Dragon. It flapped its large wings, circling overhead while unleashing Water Breath.
Two soldiers were blown away, but Andrew and the others continued to fire relentlessly.
The bullets were imbued with Lightning Magical Power. Even the Blue Dragon seemed to dislike being hit, letting out a shrill cry as it flew away.
Andrew lowered his gun and breathed a sigh of relief.
“We managed to drive it off somehow…”
He rushed to the soldiers who had been hit by the Water Breath, but both were already dead.
Andrew bit his lip and looked around. They were on the rooftop of a large shopping mall.
Many people had taken refuge there, and soldiers were accompanying them.
Looking out from the rooftop, the overflowing seawater had swallowed the city. It could be said that this place was now the sea itself.
“Captain… the Magical Weaponry for dealing with Blue Dragons…”
At the soldier’s words, Andrew replied, “Ah.” He could see the surface-to-air Magical Weaponry installed on the rooftops of the buildings,
being destroyed by the Monsters that had come from the sea.
This was probably happening all over the city. There was no longer any way to repel the attacking Blue Dragons.
“At this rate… there will be a massive number of casualties.”
Andrew’s prediction became a reality. The people who had taken refuge on the rooftops of the buildings were too vulnerable to the Dragons coming from the sky.
Many people were killed without being able to do anything.
The only places that could resist were those firmly defended by Seekers. Hans and Charlotte were among them.
“Haaaaaaaaaa!!”
Charlotte slashed at a Blue Dragon with her Katana, which was clad in Lightning. The Dragon, its chest and wings torn, lost its balance and crashed onto the rooftop.
Hans, who had been running, thrust his Longsword forward.
The tip of the Longsword, radiating crackling plasma, pierced the Dragon’s head, and the Dragon died, electrocuted.
It was a splendid collaboration between Hans and Charlotte, but there were still two Blue Dragons in the sky.
They dodged the Water Breath spewed from above and readied their weapons. The two unleashed Lightning Strike magic into the sky in unison.
However, the two Dragons evaded it.
It was not easy to hit Monsters flying in the sky.
“Tch!”
Hans made a bitter face. They had finally managed to evacuate, but being on the rooftop made them easy prey for the Blue Dragons.
However, the lower floors were rapidly flooding, and the rooftop was the only safe place.
No, even this place wouldn’t last forever…
While Hans was pondering, the Dragons glided down, heading straight for them. They unleashed Lightning Strikes to drive them away, but they immediately circled back.
At this rate, they would eventually be killed. Their Magical Power had its limits, and their stamina wouldn’t last long.
In contrast, the number of their enemies was increasing with each passing moment.
He could see other building rooftops from here. The people there were also being attacked by Blue Dragons. The soldiers seemed to be desperately fighting back, but it was a drop in the bucket.
Everyone was being devoured, and civilians were becoming Dragon food.
Hans gnashed his teeth at his helplessness. All over England, more people must be attacked by Monsters and losing their lives.
Yet he couldn’t go to help them, and he could barely protect the people in front of him.
What in the world was he doing? If he could cooperate with the Japanese Seekers, wouldn’t there have been a different future?
As Hans was repeating these questions to himself,
“Hans-san!!”
Charlotte’s voice pierced his ears. Hans snapped back to reality and looked up at the sky.
A Dragon was approaching right in front of him. Hans twisted his body, trying to dodge the enemy’s charge, but the Dragon’s wing struck his shoulder.
“Gah… ah!”
He was blown away by the impact and rolled across the ground. He heard Charlotte’s scream, “Hans-san!”
Hans somehow raised his face while lying face down, but what came into view was civilians being attacked by Water Breath. Helpless, their bodies were crushed, and many people died.
“Damn it!”
Hans stood up and swung his Longsword. Lightning ran through the air, but the Dragon lightly evaded it and soared into the sky.
Panting heavily, Hans glared at the sky.
At this rate, everyone would die. He had to do something… at least, for the people in front of him…
Just as Hans put strength into his trembling legs, a dazzling flash ran across the sky.
The light struck a Blue Dragon directly. The Dragon lost its balance and fell in a spiral.
Hans stared in astonishment at the Dragon that had crashed onto the rooftop.
Its entire body was frozen, and it was already dead. Was this Ice magic!? No, there were no Seekers in England who used such magic.
They had succeeded in using Magical Weaponry to apply an “Ice coating” to buildings, but he had never heard of it being used as an offensive magic.
Who in the world!? Hans looked at the western sky from where the light had come.
There was a small shadow there.
“That is…”
What had flown in was a Dragon. It wasn’t a normal Blue Dragon. Its entire body was transparent, and it looked like it was adorned with sparkling jewels.
Hans recognized that Dragon.
“That huge Dragon! It wasn’t dead!?”
It was the liquifying Dragon that had attacked them when they were escaping from the First District. He had been able to escape thanks to the Japanese Seekers, but he would have died if he had fought it head-on.
“Of all places, here…”
Hans bit his lip. He could barely handle a normal Dragon, let alone someone like that.
In the worst case, he had to evacuate at least the people here.
Just as Hans steeled himself, the Blue Dragons in the sky let out a deafening cry and headed towards them.
Hans braced himself and channeled Lightning Magical Power into the Longsword he was holding.
“You bastards! Come if you dare!!”
The instant Hans was about to swing his Longsword—Ice Breath struck a Blue Dragon directly.
The Dragon froze in mid-air and fell powerlessly.
Hans and Charlotte, who had tried to help, were speechless.
A Monster was attacking a Monster. He had thought that the first attack had simply missed, but that wasn’t the case.
Without a doubt, the Ice Dragon had aimed its breath at the Blue Dragon.
Why would it do such a thing? Hans stopped moving, confused.
Charlotte and the other Seekers and civilians didn’t understand what was happening and stiffened their bodies.
The Ice Dragon, which had come up to the sky, flapped its wings as it descended.
As everyone watched with bated breath, the Dragon landed on the rooftop.
A transparent body of water, crystal-like horns that sparkled. It was indeed that Dragon from back then.
Hans held his Longsword warily.
But the Dragon showed no sign of attacking, and instead, its form began to change.
It gradually became smaller, converging into a human shape.
“No way… why are you!?”
Hans widened his eyes in surprise. Standing there was a grotesque monster clad in Black Armor.
It was Mitaka Yuma, also known as 【Black Armor】.
