Black Steel King – Chapter 321

“The water… is receding.”

Leila overlooked the city from the rooftop of the government building. The ice field that had spread around them was returning to the sea, and the water level was dropping.
Not understanding what was happening, Leila was dumbfounded.

“Why all of a sudden… what happened?!”

Leila muttered, hugging her trembling shoulders, and Rui, who was standing behind her, replied.

“Probably, Yuma defeated the Blue King.”

Leila turned around, looking at Rui with an incredulous expression. Instead of Leila, who remained silent, Charlotte spoke up.

“Are you really saying that Mitaka defeated the Blue King?!”
“Yes, if the ice is melting and the water level is dropping, then the Blue King’s magic must have lost its effect. Considering the explosions that have been happening since earlier, there’s no doubt that Yuma defeated the enemy.”

Charlotte, Leila, and even the soldiers behind them couldn’t quite grasp whether it was true.
Seeing the reaction around them, only Akito chuckled dryly.

“Well, we took on all the other monsters. He’d better do at least this much!”

Akito folded his hands behind his head and looked up at the southeastern sky with a smile.

“Speak of the devil. Looks like he’s back.”

Rui, Leila, and the others looked at the southeastern sky. There was a small dot in the distance.
As it gradually approached, they began to understand what it was. A red Dragon with its wings spread wide. Flapping its wings, it headed towards them.
Charlotte and Leila’s faces stiffened, but Rui and Akito watched the sky without any particular concern.
It was undoubtedly an Ancient Dragon that had come overhead.
But the Dragon changed its form and landed on the rooftop where Leila and the others were. A humanoid Black Monster, which Leila was seeing for the first time, let out a small scream.

“It’s alright, Prime Minister. That’s the Japanese Seeker, Mitaka Yuma.”
“T-That’s…”

Leila’s eyes widened, and she let out a surprised voice. Yuma, without paying attention, headed towards Rui and Akito.

“How’d it go? Were you able to defeat the Blue King?”

To Akito’s question, Yuma replied, “Yeah.”

“It was quite a struggle, but I managed to defeat him somehow. The water’s receding, so the city should return to normal after a while.”

Charlotte reacted to his words.

“Really?! You really defeated the Blue King?”

She rushed in front of Yuma and asked him in a demanding manner. Taken aback by her intensity, Yuma leaned back.

“Y-Yeah… I definitely defeated him. Here, I even brought this.”

Yuma held out the Magic Gem in his hand in front of Charlotte. It was a deep blue Magic Gem.

“Could that be…”
“The Blue King’s Magic Gem.”

Charlotte’s eyes widened in surprise. Akito and Rui, who were next to her, also peered at the Magic Gem.

“Heh heh heh, you did it. With this, my Water Magic can get a massive power-up!”
“A blue diamond… no, it’s an even more beautiful Magic Gem. I wonder if it’s a Magic Gem above a diamond?”

Akito laughed cheerfully, and Rui raised an eyebrow as he gazed at the Magic Gem.
Leila watched the scene, holding down her trembling shoulders. That Japanese man was saying that he defeated the Blue King. It should be something to celebrate.
But Leila couldn’t bring herself to feel that way.
If he defeated the Blue King, then that Japanese man was an even greater monster.
Leila felt an indescribable fear and desperately tried to think.

–We must drive this dangerous Japanese man out of our country.

◇◇◇

It took a full day, but all the seawater that had covered England had receded.
The damage to the country was immeasurable, and the number of deaths was estimated to be enormous. Even so, the Blue King was dead, and the number of Monsters had drastically decreased.
Rebuilding the nation would be entirely possible. Yuma was thinking about such things as he looked down at the old building. Rui and Akito were next to him.

“Now, I wonder if it’ll be alright this time. I can’t deal with them being stingy again.”

Akito squatted down, munching on a protein bar while cursing. Rui smiled wryly at the sight.

“True… our goal is the Magic Gem, after all. We need Hans-san and Charlotte-san to do their best somehow.”

Hearing their conversation, Yuma sighed. They were currently at the Radcliffe Camera in the University of Oxford. It was a circular library that felt its age.
The three of them had arbitrarily climbed onto its roof balcony and were looking at the Bodleian Library across the courtyard.
It was where the surviving British Politicians were gathered, discussing what to do next.

–Politics don’t concern us, but we have to receive the White Magic Gem… or we won’t be able to return to Japan.

Currently, a meeting on policy direction was being held inside the library, and Hans and Charlotte were also participating as observers.
Hans had said that he would convey their request to the government.
He would surely do something about it. Believing so, they were waiting for the results.

“Ah, it’s Charlotte-san.”

Hearing Rui’s voice, Yuma turned his eyes to the entrance of the library. Charlotte appeared, and Hans came out from behind her.
The two were talking about something.

“Well then, shall we go?”

Akito stood up and shouldered the bag containing his spear. Rui and Yuma also stood up and decided to descend from the roof balcony.
They could jump down, but it would be too conspicuous, so they used the stairs.
After leaving the library in a few minutes, they saw a beautiful lawn. It might wither away because it had been submerged in the sea, but it was still lush and green.
Looking around again, they saw buildings that resembled medieval castles.
Although there were some damaged areas due to the flooding, they still retained their original form.
Hans and Charlotte came to the courtyard of the quaint university. Yuma and the others also approached.

“How did it go? Did our request go through?”

When Yuma asked, Hans shook his head with a dark expression.

“I’m sorry… I appealed to them many times, but the Prime Minister and the cabinet members had a series of negative opinions… They came to the conclusion that they cannot hand over the White Magic Gem.”
