Episode 322: Arrival in America
skillfully manipulated the Dragon wings, catching the wind and rising.
Ahead, there were indeed creatures flying in the sky. Their entire bodies shimmered, spreading large wings and gracefully swimming through the air.
Long horns grew from their heads, and sharp fangs peeked out.
“That’s…”
Yuma’s voice involuntarily escaped his lips. There was no mistaking it.
That was the strongest Monster of the Dragonkind, alongside the Ancient Dragon and the Blue Dragon: the Gold Dragon.
Yuma had heard the name countless times, but this was the first time he had seen one in person.
Although its danger level was designated as Double A, it was actually said to be stronger than an Ancient Dragon.
Akito, who was ahead, charged towards such a Monster.
The Gold Dragons also noticed them, circling in the sky and approaching. There were seven of them.
One of the Gold Dragons opened its mouth. What was released was “Lightning Breath.” A flash of light raced through the sky. Akito nimbly dodged the attack and charged forward, still riding his spear.
“Amazing, that guy. To be able to fly so freely in the sky…”
Yuma was impressed. He had only recently learned to fly and didn’t yet feel like he could fly around freely.
As expected of someone who had flown all the way to England.
While he was thinking about that, Akito and the Gold Dragons collided.
As the Dragons released several bolts of Lightning from their bodies, Akito easily dodged them, jumped off his spear, and positioned himself directly above a Gold Dragon.
However, he had no weapon. What was he going to do? As Yuma worried, Akito extended his left arm horizontally.
“Come! Gae Bolg!!”
Gae Bolg, which had been flying in the air, suddenly changed direction and flew towards Akito.
Looking closely, a thin thread of light could be seen between Akito and Gae Bolg. That was Akito’s Thunder Magic, which he had been discharging.
So that’s how they were connected, Yuma thought, impressed.
The spear landed in Akito’s hand, and he fell towards the Gold Dragon with that momentum. He thrust the spear into the Dragon’s head, then,
“Just die already! You bastard!!”
He poured a large amount of Thunder Magic into the Dragon’s wound. This seemed to have an effect on the Dragon, as smoke puffed out of its head and it fell towards the ground.
The Gold Dragon, falling powerlessly, was now just a Monster that no longer shone.
Akito remounted his spear and moved at high speed, saying, “Next, next!”
“I can’t lose either!”
Yuma turned his face forward. Then, two Gold Dragons flew towards him. He couldn’t leave everything to Akito.
Yuma extended a Longsword from the back of his right hand.
The two Dragons unleashed “Lightning Breath.” Flashes of light with terrifying speed.
Yuma twisted his body to somehow dodge the attacks and collided head-on.
Yuma swung the Longsword in his right hand to try to slash the Dragon. But the Dragon twisted its body and dodged it.
“Damn!”
As expected, the Gold Dragon had the advantage in aerial combat. Yuma regained his posture and tried to slash again.
However, the other Dragon wouldn’t allow it. It unleashed “Lightning Breath” from nearby. This time, Yuma couldn’t dodge and took a direct hit.
“Uwaaaaaaa!!”
Yuma momentarily lost his balance and fell, but he hurriedly flapped his wings and somehow maintained his aerial posture.
“That was close~. That bastard got me!”
The two Dragons flapped their wings, hovering and looking at him. It seemed difficult to fight these Dragons with slashes.
Yuma glanced to the side and saw that Akito had defeated another Gold Dragon.
–I have to defeat these guys quickly too… Yuma retracted the sword in his right hand and shifted his gaze to his left hand.
Even if he engaged in aerial combat, the Dragons would fly much better. There was no chance of winning that way.
Yuma concentrated on his left hand. His hand bulged out and was dyed Metal Red.
What appeared was a Dragon’s head. He had attached the head of an Ancient Dragon to his left arm. The King’s power could only be drawn out when there was a powerful enemy.
He had thought it might be possible to use a part of it, but it seemed different. The only abilities he could use now were the Ancient Dragon and the Crystal Dragon.
The power would be significantly weaker, but it would still exert sufficient force.
Yuma pointed the Dragon’s head at the Gold Dragons.
Perhaps sensing the danger, the Dragons flapped their wings and tried to distance themselves from Yuma.
“Think I’ll let you escape?!”
Magical Power of Fire was gathered in the red Dragon’s mouth. The energy, compressed and turned into a Fireball, was released all at once.
The Fireball caught the rising Gold Dragon.
A violent explosion occurred, dyeing the sky in front of him bright red. The Gold Dragon fell from the swirling black smoke. The Fireball had pierced through the Lightning Barrier.
“Alright! One more!!”
Yuma skillfully glided and chased after the Dragon. The Dragon also turned and came towards him.
It opened its mouth wide and unleashed “Lightning Breath.” Yuma barely dodged the flash of light and pointed the Dragon head in his left hand at the opponent.
The released Fireball once again pierced through the Lightning Barrier and hit the Dragon directly.
The Fireball burst apart like raging flames, tearing the Dragon’s body apart.
Scattering Ember and smoke, the Gold Dragon fell into the sea.
“Phew… I managed to defeat them somehow.”
As Yuma breathed a sigh of relief, Akito, riding his spear, approached.
“What? You only defeated two? I’m already done here.”
Akito grinned with a smug look on his face. Looking around, the Gold Dragons were already gone.
“Oh, you’re fast as always.”
“Well, it’s a piece of cake for me! Easy, easy. Well then, shall we go back? There are no more Dragons, so we can land safely.”
He approached the RC-135 reconnaissance plane that was flying. Akito easily entered the rear hatch, but Yuma couldn’t grab the hatch properly and floundered while flying.
“What are you doing! Hurry up!”
“I, I know!”
Yuma flapped his wings repeatedly and struggled to grab the door. Once inside the plane, he returned the transformed large wings, tail, and left arm to their original state.
In less than a minute, the Metallization was also undone, and he returned to his human form.
As he walked down the aisle to the front, the attendant soldier looked at Akito and Yuma with a surprised expression.
“Well, I’ve heard rumors… but amazing! To actually defeat those Gold Dragons…”
“Ah, it’s just a piece of cake for us. Easy, easy.”
Akito grinned. When he reached the front seats, Rui stood up and turned to them.
“Good work.”
Yuma replied, “Yeah,” and bumped fists with Rui.
The three of them sat back down and fastened their seatbelts. The RC-135 reconnaissance plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport on the east coast of America.
