Episode 381: Each One’s Growth
“Alright!”
Yuma stood with his feet firmly planted on the ground, hands on his hips, in the open space in front of a warehouse at the airbase.
He concentrated, kneading his Magical Power.
A white aura swirled around his body, rising in a vortex towards the sky. Rui, Akito, Albert, and Mia watched him.
After Yuma absorbed the White Magic Gem, he wanted to test his power, so they all came outside.
As tension filled the air, Yuma raised his right hand high.
He faced his palm to the sky, concentrating his Magical Power into a single point.
“Go!”
What was released from his hand was a “White Flash.” It stretched as if piercing the sky and disappeared into the distance.
“Ooh! It’s like the Yellow King’s laser. Super cool!”
Akito looked up at the sky, a broad smile on his face. Rui nodded in agreement.
“That’s probably White Fourth Tier Magic. And the laser the Yellow King used was Lightning Fourth Tier Magic… They look similar, but the effects are completely different, I think.”
Hearing that, Albert licked his lips and said, “Indeed.”
“The Yellow King’s laser is a bundle of Lightning Strikes that destroys everything. In contrast, that flash is a mass of abnormal Recovery Magic. It doesn’t affect matter, but it probably inflicts fatal wounds only on the cells of living things.”
“It’s the kind of magic that high-ranking angels use,” Mia said.
Albert nodded, saying, “I think so.”
“In any case, there’s no doubt it’s powerful magic. But it’s not what he wanted, is it?”
Yuma, where Albert and Rui were looking, was clenching and opening his right hand, checking the sensation.
After a while, he seemed satisfied and returned to Rui and the others.
“Are you okay now? Can you use Resurrection Magic?”
Asked by Akito, Yuma shook his head.
“I think this is my limit for now. My White Magical Power has increased, but I don’t feel like I can handle any more than this.”
Everyone’s face turned grim.
If he couldn’t use Resurrection Magic, he wouldn’t have achieved his goal. For Yuma and Rui, reviving Kaede was the most important thing.
Akito scratched his cheek, looking awkward.
“What should we do? Yuma, we can go to another country again and collect White Magic Gems. I’ll stick with you to the very end.”
It was a kind offer from Akito, but Yuma shook his head, saying, “No.”
“I don’t think I can use Resurrection Magic even if I collect more Magic Gems. It seems more likely that I’ll be able to if I train and master Recovery Magic.”
“Then…”
Looking at the anxious Rui, Yuma nodded.
“Yeah… let’s go home. To Japan.”
◇◇◇
On the runway of the airbase, a single aircraft was parked.
It was a Learjet 35 prepared by the U.S. Air Force for Yuma and the others. The refueling and loading of luggage by the staff were completed, and the two pilots were already on board.
In front of the boarding stairs, Yuma shifted his gaze to the people who had come to see him off.
Here were Albert, Mia, and several members of Prometheus.
He had already finished greeting Alicia, Brace, Air Force General Charles, and others. He could only be grateful now for all the cooperation he had received.
Yuma looked at Albert’s smiling face.
“Albert-san, thank you for all your cooperation. If it weren’t for you, I might be dead by now.”
“That’s my line. I thank you on behalf of the United States for defeating the Yellow King. I apologize for underestimating your strength.”
Yuma and Albert shook hands firmly, praising each other’s efforts.
“When things calm down in the United States, I’d like you to help with the rescue in Australia. There are many people in need.”
“Yeah, I’ll definitely go. I promise.”
He exchanged greetings with Mia and the members of Prometheus.
In particular, a blond man named Ryan thanked him with tears in his eyes, saying, “Thank you for saving America!”
He seemed to be a very passionate person. After finishing the greetings, Yuma and the others tried to go up the boarding stairs.
At that moment—there was a shadow approaching at high speed from the southern sky.
It was a Gold Dragon. Three of them.
“We’ll take care of this.”
Albert stepped forward, but Yuma smiled and said, “No, it’s okay.”
“Since we’re here, I want to test the power of my magic. We’ll do it.”
Yuma stepped forward and pointed his right index finger at the sky. He aimed at the Gold Dragon swimming leisurely in the sky.
“I don’t know if it’ll work, but…”
A flash of light was released from his fingertip. White Fourth Tier Magic—Annihilation Laser—pierced the Dragon’s chest at the speed of light.
The Gold Dragon couldn’t understand what had happened.
A few seconds later, its body swelled up and finally exploded into tiny pieces.
Yuma clenched his fist and made a triumphant pose.
“Yes, it hit! Isn’t this a usable magic?”
Seeing that, Akito grinned.
“Not bad. I’ve also powered up by absorbing a Magic Gem! Now it’s my turn!”
He held the shaft of Gae Bolg with both hands, pointing the spearhead towards the southern sky. Plasma began to gather at the tip of the spear.
“This is the Lightning Fourth Tier Magic that the Yellow King used! Gooooo!”
What was released from the spearhead was a golden flash. The flash grazed the wings of the Dragon flying in the sky.
In an instant—the Dragon’s body vanished.
Even Akito himself, who used the power, was amazed, saying, “That’s insane!”
However, even after defeating two Gold Dragons, the remaining Dragon charged in.
“I’ll do it.”
Rui, who had drawn his Katana, lit the blade with flickering flames. The flames changed to black.
Against the Dragon that was approaching within striking distance, Rui swung his sword brilliantly.
The Dragon was split in half in mid-air and enveloped in Black Flames. The Gold Dragon that fell to the ground was burned to ashes and disappeared.
“Fire Fourth Tier Magic—Black Flame. I wonder if I’ve gotten the hang of it?”
Rui muttered while looking at the blade. Mia and the others who were watching were speechless.
Fourth Tier Magic was not something that people could easily use. The members of Prometheus couldn’t believe that anyone other than Albert had used it.
However, only Albert was smiling happily.
“Amazing. All three of you are wonderful.”
As Albert and the others saw them off, Yuma and the others boarded the aircraft.
The boarding stairs were removed, and the hatch was closed. Yuma took a seat by the window and waved to Albert and the others from the window.
Albert and Ryan waved back, but only Mia had a sullen expression.
The Learjet 35 gradually began to move.
There were various encounters and battles in America and Australia.
Yuma gazed out the window with deep emotion. He should have obtained enough White Magic Gems now.
All that remained was to learn how to use them…
The aircraft carrying Yuma and the others took off from the runway.
Towards Japan, where many people were waiting.
