Chapter 390: The Target Floor
White Dungeon, Floor 23—
A pleasant grassland spread out before them. The clear blue sky was enough to make one relax, but two white wolves came running from beyond the hill.
Yuma pointed his index finger at the wolves, releasing a series of light beams.
The light struck the two wolves directly, stopping them in their tracks. The wolves swayed unsteadily, then their bodies swelled up and exploded. Pieces of flesh scattered everywhere.
From behind Yuma, a white eagle swooped down.
It attacked, aiming for his head, but Yuma evaded the attack without even turning around.
Thanks to the “Spatial Awareness” he had acquired in the Tartarus of Australia, he was now able to discern the movements of his opponents without even seeing them.
The eagle, having failed to catch its prey, soared into the sky. However, Yuma had no intention of letting it escape.
He raised the pickel in his left hand, pouring Magical Power into it.
Plasma crackled and swirled at the tip of the pickel, eventually transforming into a thick bolt of Lightning that raced through the sky. The eagle, which had tried to escape, was struck down by the tremendous power of the Lightning.
“Oh, hit, hit!”
Yuma shielded his eyes with his hand, watching the falling eagle.
Akiyama and the others, who were watching this from behind, exchanged confused glances.
“Hey, what’s with that strength!? I heard he was a top-notch Seeker, but isn’t he stronger than Tennoji-san and Taizen-san?”
At Akiyama’s words, Kitazawa, who was behind him, grimaced.
“I don’t know! We were only told to take him to the lower levels as much as possible!”
As if to soothe the agitated Kitazawa, Oura, who was nearby, opened her mouth.
“Now, now, Sari-chan, calm down. Even if it’s the lower levels, it’s only around the 50th floor, right? That’s about as far as the three of us can go.”
“He’s a Seeker that strong, you know. There’s no way he’ll stop at the 50th floor!”
Scolded by Kitazawa, Oura stammered, “U-um.” The three of them stared at the figure of the man who was killing even more Monsters ahead.
He was using magic they had never seen before, defeating powerful Monsters.
What was most surprising was that he used Lightning and fire magic as if it were commonplace. As for the light emitted from his fingertips, they didn’t even know what kind of magic it was.
An elite Seeker who used two or more types of magic.
Akiyama recalled what had happened before coming here.
–Ishikawa-san told us to take this person to as deep a level as possible. He didn’t specify how far, but isn’t this person aiming for the Depths, not just the lower levels… somewhere close to the deepest part?
Akiyama gulped. The deepest point reached in the White Dungeon in Hokkaido was the 122nd floor. That was the limit for a large-scale unit.
–If we were to go to a deeper level than that…
As Akiyama was pondering, a faint sound came from behind. The three of them turned around at the same time, and there stood a white wolf, a “Managarm.”
Everyone hurriedly readied their weapons, but they were a moment too late. The Managarm kicked off the ground and pounced on Akiyama.
Before he could swing his Longsword, the wolf bit into Akiyama’s right arm.
“Gah!”
Akiyama’s face twisted in pain, and he fell backward.
As the Managarm tried to tear off his arm, Kitazawa and Oura stabbed it with their Daggers. The Managarm growled and leaped back from the spot.
Kitazawa and Oura, facing the strongest Monster in this stratum, held their Longswords with tense expressions.
Akiyama also managed to stand up and pick up the Longsword he had dropped.
The moment the three of them confronted the white wolf—the wolf was blown to smithereens.
Everyone was taken aback by the sudden event, when a voice came from a little further away.
“Hey, are you guys okay!?”
Mitaka Yuma came running over. The three of them understood that they had been saved and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you very much. It’s not a serious wound, so I’m fine.”
Akiyama said with a grimace, and Kitazawa crouched down, lowered her rucksack, and took out a first-aid kit from inside.
First aid inside the Dungeon. It was something the three of them were used to.
Yuma called out to Kitazawa, who was preparing efficiently, “Should I do it?”
“Eh? No, thank you. This is our job.”
Kitazawa said calmly, but Yuma came forward, saying, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
Kitazawa frowned. They were more familiar with the first-aid kit. She felt repulsed by what an outsider would do.
However, Yuma paid no attention to the first-aid kit, approached Akiyama, and held his hand over his right arm.
“Don’t move for a moment.”
The next moment he said that—light overflowed from Yuma’s hand, gently enveloping Akiyama’s arm.
“This is…”
Akiyama’s eyes widened. The wound on his right arm was healing rapidly.
“Phew, that should do it.”
Yuma clapped his hands together and stretched his back. Not only Akiyama, but also Kitazawa and Oura were astonished that he had completely healed the wound.
“Recovery Magic… Mitaka-san, were you a Messiah instead of a Seeker!?”
Kitazawa asked with a stiff face. Yuma scratched his chin and said, “Hmm.”
“I don’t really feel like I’m a Messiah. Well, I’m just a Seeker who can use a little Recovery Magic.”
No one was convinced by that explanation. Akiyama looked at his arm again.
–I’ve never seen Recovery Magic that heals this quickly and this perfectly. He’s definitely a top-level user as a Messiah. And yet, his attack magic is also abnormally strong. What is this guy!?
Akiyama raised his face and looked at Yuma.
“Um, how many floors are you planning to go down, Mitaka-san? Is it the Depths after all?”
Yuma looked surprised for a moment, but immediately smiled.
“Of course—I’m going all the way to the bottom.”
