Episode 392: Various Circumstances
Hokkaido, White Dungeon, 112th Floor —
Amidst the drifting white mist, Yuma and his companions walked across the flatlands where visibility was poor.
They had progressed smoothly until now, but after passing the 100th floor, they had been treading water.
“We’re walking the same path again…”
Yuma wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. They were merely going around in circles within the floor, unable to reach the exit. They couldn’t escape from this situation.
“This is a characteristic of the Hokkaido Dungeon. Below the 100th floor, a ‘Labyrinth Mirage’ that confuses people occurs. That’s why a lot of food and other supplies become necessary,”
Akiyama, walking behind, said with a grimace. Kitazawa and Oura also walked with exhausted expressions.
Yuma glared at the front, covered in white mist. Even using his “Spatial Awareness,” he couldn’t discern the correct path.
A special environment must be deceiving them. They had been walking around this floor for two full days, but they didn’t know if they could get out.
“Will we eventually reach the exit?”
Yuma muttered, sounding fed up. Akiyama gave a wry smile.
“When Elceed’s Seeker Clan explored here, it took them four days to get through this. They luckily found the correct route. I don’t know if we’ll be so lucky this time…”
Yuma stepped on the weeds spreading at his feet, mustered his energy, and moved his feet forward.
Being lost in the Dungeon was difficult, but there was something even more troublesome.
A rustling sound echoed, and the mist swayed slightly.
Yuma stretched his right hand out to the side, alerting the three behind him to the danger. Akiyama and the others stopped dead in their tracks, holding their breath.
“There’s something there… and it’s pretty big.”
As Yuma readied his Pickel, something white attacked from within the mist. Yuma jumped back, barely dodging it.
“Mitaka-san!!”
Akiyama shouted. Kitazawa and Oura also took out their weapons, ready and on guard.
Yuma warned, “Get back!” and pointed his right index finger forward. What was in the mist was undoubtedly an Abyssal Monster.
The mist swayed slightly, and the face of a ferocious monster appeared.
A huge white Dragon — Akiyama shouted loudly.
“It’s a Tarasque! A very dangerous monster!!”
What was coming towards them was a four-legged monster without wings. In appearance, it was closer to a rhinoceros than a Dragon.
Yuma faced the Tarasque and released a “White Flash” from his fingertip. When it hit the Tarasque’s seemingly hard body surface, the seven-colored light was reflected and bounced back the flash.
“A Barrier of Light, huh…”
Yuma took a step back and glared at the Dragon before him with annoyance. The giant body swayed slowly as it approached.
As the floors deepened, monsters that were resistant to White Flash had increased.
As expected, powerful white monsters seemed to have resistance to Light Magic.
–Well, the monsters in the Red Dungeon are also strong against fire… It’s only natural.
Seeing Yuma step back, Kitazawa, who was behind him, raised his voice.
“Let’s retreat! This place is too dangerous. It should be easy to evacuate.”
Yuma thought, “That’s true,” while holding his Pickel. This maze-like floor covered in mist made it impossible to find the exit.
However, they had returned to the entrance many times. It seemed easy enough to just go back.
“It’s true that the monsters have become harder to defeat, but we can’t go back after coming this far.”
“But–“
Kitazawa persisted.
“A Tarasque is a monster that requires more than ten high-ranking Seekers to defeat. We can’t do anything about it with just us!”
Akiyama and Oura also agreed with stiff expressions. But only Yuma had a relaxed smile on his face.
“Sorry. I made you uneasy. I’m going to get serious from here on out.”
“Huh?”
Ignoring the confused Kitazawa, Yuma raised his Pickel high.
Wind gathered at the head, creating a Vacuum Sphere. He dashed forward and slammed the head into the Tarasque’s leg.
The Vacuum Sphere burst, tearing away at the Tarasque’s body.
A large amount of blood spurted out, and the giant Dragon cried out.
Yuma gathered Wind Magical Power into his Pickel and swung it down with all his might. The ground shattered, and a blast of wind swept around.
He intended to blow away the mist, but it only swayed slightly, and the mist remained as it was.
“I see… this mist is the Labyrinth Mirage. It’s something that doesn’t really have substance.”
Yuma pulled back his Pickel and stared at the raging Tarasque. The white Dragon dashed forward, shaking the ground as it came.
Yuma exhaled softly.
“Well, whatever. If it’s coming at me, it doesn’t matter if there’s mist or not.”
When he channeled the maximum amount of Magical Power into the Pickel, the head began to glow green. The Green Diamond embedded in the Pickel was reacting.
Yuma swung the Pickel sideways, generating a Wind Blade.
The powerful Wind Blade slashed through the Tarasque’s body, tearing it apart in an instant. The rolling Dragon’s body turned into sand and crumbled away.
Yuma put the Pickel on his shoulder and sighed.
“Wind Magic…”
It was Kitazawa who muttered in a daze. Akiyama and Oura were the same, staring at Yuma with incredulous expressions.
Akiyama took a step forward as if he had made up his mind.
“M-Mitaka-san, can you also use Wind Magic? You’ve used Fire, Lightning, and even Recovery Magic until now, and now Wind Magic too… How can you use so many types of magic?”
Yuma answered Akiyama’s confusion nonchalantly.
“Hmm, well, there were various circumstances…. I can also use Black Enhancement Magic and Water Magic, so I can use all six types of magic.”
Akiyama and the others were speechless with their mouths open at Yuma’s casual statement.
