“Well, first things first, let’s get you a weapon. Come with me, Yuma.”
The president left the office and headed down the stairs.
Yuma hurriedly followed after the president, along with Tanaka (he).
“Where are we going?” Yuma asked Tanaka (he), who replied, “To the warehouse on the second floor.”
Yuma had thought the company’s office was only on one floor, but it seemed D-Minor was using the second floor as well.
The president opened the door to the second floor and went inside. Yuma and Tanaka (he) followed.
The inside was dusty and a bit dim, as the curtains were drawn. Various tools were scattered about.
Leaning against the shelves were what looked like clubs and swords. There were also helmets and protectors. The president picked one up and dusted it off.
“Cough, some of this stuff hasn’t been used in a while… Yuma, pick a weapon and some armor from here.”
“Weapons and armor?”
“The weapons used in Dungeons are a bit special. This one, for example…”
The president picked up a club that was leaning against the wall. It was a bronze-colored club with a heavy, imposing presence.
“This is a Magic Enchanted Armament made by Elceed Corporation, the Water Vein Club. If you pour Magical Power into it inside a Dungeon, the club itself will take on the Magical Power of Water and glow blue.”
“What’s a Magic Enchanted Armament?”
“What, you don’t even know that? Mana by itself is useless. That’s what we call ‘colorless Mana.’ When you swallow a Magic Gem and can use magic, the colorless Mana decreases by the Mana Index of the Magic Gem. That’s the phenomenon of ‘Mana being dyed.'”
“Mana… being dyed?”
“That’s right. And some people call the dyed Mana ‘Magical Power.’ The size of this Magical Power is directly related to the strength of your attack.”
You can use “magic” for the first time by converting Mana into Magical Power. Yuma had read about it in books, but hearing it from the president, a professional Seeker, made it feel more real.
“Well, even if you can use magic, only top-tier Seekers can fight Monsters with just that. Most Seekers don’t have enough Magical Power. That’s where these Magic Enchanted Armaments come in. They produce high attack power even with a small amount of Magical Power. In other words, they’re tools that assist magic. A Magic Gem is used in the core part, which is a characteristic.”
“Elceed makes things like that?”
“They’re a global manufacturer of Dungeon armaments. You can assume that almost all the weapons and armor used domestically are made by Elceed Corporation.”
Yuma took the club from the president and looked at it with interest. He learned that it was made of special ceramic, not metal.
“If you convert about a Mana Index of 70 into Magical Power, you can use this. Well, a third party can also pour Magical Power into it, but it’s not efficient, so we don’t do that here.”
“Huh.”
“But the Dungeon we’re going to this time is the ‘Blue Dungeon.’ Using Water Magic on Water-attribute Monsters is pointless, so we’ll use this instead.”
The president pointed to the shelf next to him. There were other weapons lined up there, but they clearly had a different feel from the Magic Enchanted Armaments.
“What are these?”
“Those aren’t Magic Enchanted Armaments. They’re a type of stun gun. If you press the switch, electricity flows. It’s battery-powered.”
“Battery-powered!?”
“Battery-powered. It’s much weaker than Thunder Magic, but it’s quite effective against Water-attribute Monsters. You can choose whatever you like.”
“Even if you tell me to choose whatever I like…”
Yuma looked around. On the shelf were long, club-like weapons. On the table in front were daggers and electric batons.
Yuma picked up a club and pressed the switch in the middle of the handle. Thin beams of light burst from the tip with a crackling sound. Stun gun-type weapons were commonly used, but Yuma was disappointed to see stun guns even in a professional setting.
But Yuma, who couldn’t use magic at all, couldn’t handle Magic Enchanted Armaments, so he looked at the weapons on the shelf, thinking it couldn’t be helped—
“Huh? This is…”
Yuma noticed something placed in the corner of the shelf. At first, he thought it was a club, but it seemed different.
He took out the dusty object.
It was a weapon with a long, slender handle and a large piece of metal attached to the end, like a Hammer.
“Ah, that. That’s nostalgic. I used to use that a lot back in the day.”
“Is it old?”
“Yeah, it’s an early model of Dungeon weapons made by Elceed Corporation. It’s made to be unusually sturdy, so I liked it. But now, easy-to-use stun gun weapons like clubs and daggers have become mainstream, and it’s quickly fallen out of favor.”
Tanaka (he) nodded at the president’s words and took over the conversation.
“Yuma-kun, you should choose a weapon that’s easy to use. Especially for beginners. How about a dagger? There aren’t any strong Monsters where we’re going, but it’s important to defeat them efficiently.”
Tanaka (he) recommended a dagger with a gentle smile. If a professional Seeker said so, it must be true. But perhaps because he had defeated so many Metal Slimes with a Hammer, this long, Hammer-like weapon felt comfortable in his hand.
“I’m sorry, Tanaka-san. If possible, I’d like to use this.”
“Is that so? If Yuma-kun says so, I can’t help it…”
The president, who had been watching the situation, opened his mouth.
“Well, it’s best to choose a weapon that suits your personality. If it’s difficult to use, you can always change it.”
“Yes! Thank you very much.”
Tanaka (he) also agreed, saying, “That’s certainly true.”
