“This is bad!”
Akito dashes off. But he was too late.
The white angel completely freed itself from the pillar, spreading its wings. The next moment—the angel completely vanished.
“What!?”
Akito looked around, and the Israeli Seekers also wore bewildered expressions.
Everyone had lost sight of the angel.
“Where did that angel go?”
As Akito remained vigilant, the Seekers began to stir. Akito and Rui quickly turned their attention. What they saw were Seekers without heads.
More than ten Seekers collapsed simultaneously.
An attack from an angel moving at an incomprehensible, ultra-high speed. He remembered this.
“It’s about as fast as that black and white angel!”
“Yeah, I think it’s close to the speed of light. We can’t keep up, but it can’t possibly move at the speed of light all the time!”
As Rui predicted, the angel reappeared. The two of them stared at the monster again.
A human-sized body. A pair of wings. A face like a blank mannequin. A ring above its head, and a sword in its right hand.
The more they looked, the more it seemed like a normal, lower-ranking angel. But—Akito thought.
The amount of Mana emanating from its body was extraordinary. It might even be stronger than each of the colored 【Kings】, or even Yuma.
Overwhelmed by the powerful Mana, Akito and Rui hesitated, but the Israeli Seekers began to move.
“Hey! It’s just one enemy. Surround it and take it down!”
“Yeah! Unleash your magic!!”
“We Israelis will be the ones to conquer Orpheus!!”
Everyone unleashed their magic. Akito grimaced, thinking, “Those idiots,” but it was too late to stop them. Fireballs and wind bullets flew towards the angel.
However, both passed through the angel’s body, colliding with the pillar behind it. They burst and spread flames, but the angel didn’t seem to care.
The angel remained unconcerned by the rain of magic pouring in from all directions.
Lightning Strikes rained down, and spears of water flew wildly. Wind and fire raged, but all of it passed through the body of the slowly walking angel.
“What is that thing!? Is magic not effective?”
Akito was dumbfounded. Magic was necessary to defeat monsters. That had been the accepted truth since the appearance of Dungeons, up until now… Was this monster overturning that!?
“Akito! If magic doesn’t work, we have no choice but to attack physically!”
“Ah… Yeah, that’s right! It’s our turn!”
Akito readied Gae Bolg, glaring at the angel before him. There was no sign of it moving at the speed of light. They had to finish it quickly! The two kicked off the floor, charging at the angel.
Akito gathered electricity in the soles of his feet, using it to repel against the floor. Rui activated “Godspeed.” They closed the distance to the angel at a speed that normal monsters couldn’t react to.
Akito drew back his spear, aiming the tip at the opponent’s head.
—It’s full of openings! I’ve got you!!
The tip of Gae Bolg pierced the angel’s head, and Rui’s swung katana bisected the angel’s torso. The attacks had definitely landed.
But Akito and Rui turned pale.
“Why… There’s no resistance at all.”
Rui felt the same way. It was an attack that should have completely hit, but it didn’t feel like they had cut anything.
When the two turned around, the angel was standing there as if nothing had happened.
There wasn’t a scratch on its body, and it didn’t seem flustered. The angel was looking at the Seekers coming towards it.
“It’s there! Go all at once!!”
“Everyone, fire your magic!!”
“I’ll finish it off!”
The Israeli Seekers were excited. Their eyes were bloodshot, and they didn’t seem like they would stop.
“You idiots! You’ll all be killed!!”
The moment Akito shouted—dozens of heads flew off. The angel had simply swung its sword lightly, and many people had died.
They couldn’t fight this thing. Akito and Rui immediately distanced themselves.
The Israeli Seekers finally sensed the danger and tried to escape. But it was already too late. The angel raised its hand, and a ring of light appeared in the sky above.
“That magic… This is bad, Akito!”
“Yeah, a wide-range attack is coming!!”
More than several thousand “Swords of Light” fell from the sky. The Seekers tried to defend with “Magical Barriers,” but more than half of them were pierced by the swords, their bodies exploding and dying.
Akito, Rui, and the other survivors desperately tried to escape.
However, the angel had no intention of letting them escape.
It held out its hand, and this time, a ring of light appeared behind the angel, with eight Swords of Light appearing along the ring.
They were quite large and long swords. The swords were launched simultaneously, attacking the Seekers.
“Damn it, what is this!”
Akito swung Gae Bolg to deflect the swords, but they were far more resilient than the previous Swords of Light. Rui also knocked a sword away, but the Sword of Light spun around and aimed its tip at them again.
“It’s a new magic! These swords can’t be destroyed easily.”
As Akito and Rui watched, the Israeli Seekers were being pierced by the swords one after another.
No Seeker could defend against the long, large swords. The swords pierced through people, causing them to explode, and then spun around to slash at others.
The people who were cut swelled up and exploded.
The Seekers were distracted by the swords and fled in confusion. The angel attacked those people. No one could escape. No one could resist.
Even Faybel, the leader of the expedition, stopped moving in front of the white angel. He stood frozen before the overwhelming presence.
“Faybel-san!”
Rui swung his sword, scattering flames and sending a firebird gliding. It headed straight for the angel, but the bird passed through the angel’s body and exploded in mid-air.
“It’s no good…”
Ignoring the despairing Rui, the angel swung the Sword of Light in its hand without any emotion.
Faybel’s head flew off, falling to the ground and exploding.
