Chapter 141: Revelation
With the remaining time today, instead of heading to the Forest, I focused on tidying up the attic of Kanum’s House. I left the beams exposed and covered the inner ceiling with boards, while the wider side facing the Courtyard was divided by a wall in the center.
I had already added shelves to the room on the Courtyard side and placed a self-made spring bed in the back room. The room on the Courtyard side is right at the top of the stairs.
In the back bedroom, I laid down a carpet, placed a side table next to the bed, and set a Lamp on it. I also installed shelves and an empty box, with a quilted Basket on top. Yes, this is Baku’s bedroom.
As I busied myself rearranging things and finishing up some light snacks, Dinoss and the others arrived.
“Alright, alright. This area is for bare feet, so change into these.”
I guided them to the third floor and handed them soft slippers made of fabric. They looked like half-boots made of quilt.
“…Note?”
Dinoss froze for a moment, looking around the third floor before calling out to the Butler.
“That is outside the designated area. Furniture in places not visible to the public is—”
That’s right, as the Butler said, it should be safe.
“Got it, I see our cultures are different.”
Retze was the first to take off his shoes and change into the slippers before stepping into the room.
On the shelves lining the walls were bottles of alcohol and glassware, while lamps hung from the ceiling at varying heights. The Cooking Stove sat prominently where the Fireplace would be—designed with stone blocks to resemble a fireplace—and above it was a kettle.
There were cat-footed chairs with thick fabric on the seat and back, filled with cotton, though I had to use wool since I ran out of cotton. A sturdy carpet, cushions for lounging, and a chaise lounge completed the setup.
“It’s bright… My face?”
The Lamp on the shelf had its reflective mirror replaced with a polished brass one, now a proper mirror.
I had experimented with making glass plates and, while I was at it, tried the silver mirror reaction experiment, sticking silver onto the glass to create a mirror. I wanted to forget the incident where I accidentally created lightning silver and it exploded. Chemistry experiments can be dangerous. I had to rely on [Healing] for that one.
“…Well, it seems I’ve just accumulated more things I can’t take outside.”
It seemed Retze had come to some sort of understanding.
“Ugh, gross!”
“That’s your own face you’re looking at, Dinoss.”
“I’m not talking about my face!”
I pointed out Dinoss’s grimace as he peered into the mirror, only to receive a denial in return.
“I didn’t expect it to reflect so clearly… I would love to sell this.”
“Don’t go leaking it out like that.”
I left the three of them to explore the room while I brewed some coffee. Dinoss and the Butler preferred tea. I had set up two tea tables between the chairs, separate from the round table for games.
I placed cups next to the already prepared snacks. The snacks included fried potatoes, popcorn, and jerky. Soon, I planned to bake a gratin on the Cooking Stove, which was already prepared and waiting on a plate on the shelf.
I was gradually increasing the variety of ingredients from familiar sources.
“Tea’s ready.”
“Oh.”
“Thanks.”
“Thank you very much.”
Though they were still looking around and seemed a bit unsettled, all three took their seats.
“Today was about weapons.”
“Yes.”
I replied honestly to Dinoss’s inquiry.
“…You suddenly looked away, didn’t you?”
“I tried my best, but it seems I fell short of expectations, huh?”
I had even considered banning them from entry.
“Ah, don’t worry about it. I know Spirits can be fickle.”
“I’ve heard that even the legendary Spirit Sword’s creator had difficulty making it to their liking.”
Retze remained silent, but there was a sense that I wasn’t being scolded as much as I expected!
“Well, let’s see what you’ve got.”
“Then, let’s start with the children’s series.”
I handed the items to Dinoss, the guardian, as placing them on the table seemed likely to break it.
Tina’s Hammer, Baku’s Greatsword, and En’s One-Handed Sword.
“The squirrel is quite adorable.”
The Butler complimented.
“Tina’s Hammer has the characteristic of growing larger at the moment of impact when infused with magic.”
“What?”
“Baku and En’s swords extend when infused with magic.”
“Hey.”
“One of your wife’s swords has an ice attribute, while this one is normal.”
“Wait, this isn’t just normal; it’s emitting cold air!”
“The other one has some kind of Energy Drain effect.”
“Did you attach a Wraith to it or something?!”
I won’t deny that I had indeed thought about how Wraiths and vampires would take damage during the clanging.
“Oh, and Note’s weapon has the same effect. Also, this one has the ability to rob sight, and this one is poison.”
“That’s a bit casually mentioned… But it definitely has an effect on Wraiths and such. Thank you.”
“Why are all these weapons so dangerous?!”
Well, they’re Hidden Weapons, after all. This is how they should be, right? It’s not my fault!
“Dinoss’s Flame Greatsword has a fire attribute, and it burns properly. This one is normal.”
“It feels anything but normal!”
“Do I have to take this too?”
Retze said as he pulled out a chair and lifted himself up.
Please stop preparing to run away.
