Chapter 230: Why Did You Come?
As I declared, I’m enjoying my time on the Island, it’s me, Jean.
“Should I just quit being the Lord’s代理 if it seems impossible?”
“You can’t quit! If you’re worried about my stomach, give me that spider web! I’ll dye it blue and use it for promotional purposes!”
Soleil was crying so much that I asked if she wanted to resign from her position, and she came back with some demands.
She plans to sell blue-dyed threads and fabrics as a means of cash income for the island’s residents. And Soleil is all fired up about it.
I was thinking of starting the business in Naruadeid and keeping the island off-limits at first, but I decided to charge a hefty fee to those who want to visit the island for tourism. After all, people would be curious about the waterways and such.
Soleil seems to have a knack for this; she’s been skillfully offering a place for rival merchants to negotiate when they absolutely need to do business with each other, maintaining a delicate balance. Although it’s not open yet, the groundwork is going smoothly.
It looks like the two with the Jade Pendants for back pain will be the first guests. Unlike the war-torn Nakahara, there’s hardly any conflict on the southern side of the mountains.
I can’t say it’s impossible, and there are certainly bandits who rely on brute force—pirates in this case—so I can’t let my guard down.
Auro had a reassuring smile when he said he’d take care of the defenses, and Kiel was wearing a mischievous grin. My island is making me a bit anxious about what’s to come.
“I was prepared for the office window, but I can already see them demanding to meet the person who built this tower.”
“Just say a stone mason made it and disappeared, or that a Dwarf worked through the night to create it or something.”
I’m just doing this as a hobby, so I have no intention of making it a job.
“What’s a stone mason?!”
Soleil’s eyes widened in shock.
“The office window was designed specifically for that purpose, not just the wall but the entire structure. This place is just too strange.”
Kiel commented.
“It’s just your imagination, just your imagination.”
“Leave all the trouble to us, my lord.”
“Hey, don’t take it upon yourself! I’ll only give you the spider web after that!”
I think Soleil has some real guts, even if she’s half-crying.
For now, we decided to ask the creator about it. I’ll ask the spider spirit later.
With that settled, I quickly retreated to Kanum and started grilling shrimp.
“This is the first time I’ve eaten shrimp bigger than river shrimp.”
“I think I had some back in my hometown.”
Dean and Chris said while watching the Ise shrimp cook.
Today is a feast day. I prepped a lot yesterday, but I just had to have shrimp…
I switched the iron plate on the table to a grill and started cooking scallops and meat as well. The Ise shrimp takes up space and takes time, so I set up the cooking fireplace.
“Alright, let’s eat.”
The members are Dean, Chris, Retze, and Dinoss.
Ash and Karn are out completing requests. They say the butler evacuated Ash because talk of the Fortress City and brothels was about to come up. Karn is also being cautious since Reed’s name might come up.
“Cheers!”
Dean raised his mug cheerfully, and everyone else followed suit.
Dean and Dinoss chugged their beers, while Chris and Retze sipped about half and started picking at the food.
“Ahh! This drink is delicious! I love the taste, but the sensation going down my throat is the best!”
In a TV commercial, they called what Dean described the “smoothness.”
“I like this too, but I also enjoyed that clear one we had the other day.”
“Yeah, I liked that one too.”
Dinoss and Retze were talking about sake.
I’m glad they enjoy sake, but when it comes to grilled meat, I feel like beer or highballs or something carbonated would be better.
“Jean, thank you for your help with my brother. When he went to the temple and faced his spirit, it turned out it wasn’t a unicorn after all.”
A muscular horse head, huh?
“He seemed pretty shocked, but secretly, he was probably proud of having a unicorn.”
“Well, it’s a spirit that embodies the true knightly form. But if he mixes with horses, he might be able to pass through the Spirit Path if things go well.”
“A unicorn is still a horse, right? What’s this Spirit Path?”
Is that the same one that Kingin passed through?
“The Spirit Path operates under different laws of time and distance than here, so if you can use it, traveling becomes much easier. —A unicorn only opens the path when it rushes to aid a maiden in peril.”
Unwavering, that unicorn!
“The Spirit Path is the boundary between the Spirit Realm and here, a place that’s almost like the Spirit Realm. Even with the spirit’s help, it’s quite rare for humans to enter.”
Dinoss explained.
“My brother aims for that if there’s even a slight chance.”
Chris said with a wink and a smile.
Going to another world with the help of a horse head? What is this, the afterlife?
“Speaking of travel, what about that matter?”
“Oh.”
Retze asked, and Dean set down his mug.
“What is it?”
“There was one hero in the Fortress City.”
“What? Who is it?”
An unexpected encounter with a hero! What could they possibly want?
