Comfy Mountain Life – Chapter 349

Chapter 349: Assistance from the Gods

I skipped dinner at Kadal and carried Rishu back to the House. At first glance, it seemed undamaged.

“I took the liberty of repairing the building first,” said Note, the brown Magic Stone attached to him, indicating his Earth attribute.

“Thanks. How about the Pantry?”
“All is well.”
Good. As long as the building and the Pantry are safe, we can manage.

“I feel bad making you work, but I’m a bit tired, so I’m going to take a bath and sleep.”
With that, the Earth attribute Note bowed with a hand on his chest and vanished.

Basically, Notes only appear to manage the memo pads and are rarely seen elsewhere. Perhaps this time he showed up to coordinate the spirits of this House.

Well, whatever. Time to sleep. I can take a bath in the morning.

After just washing my face, I crawled into bed. Rishu, nestled in the basket beside me, pressed her little nose against her fingertips to say goodnight.

And then came the next day.

In the orchard, branches were broken, and in the field, the vegetables were wilting. The impact was particularly noticeable on the side where I had taken things out of the Pantry.

“Since these plants have gone through the normal growth process, repairing them is quite difficult,” said the Earth attribute spirit that had appeared diagonally behind me—no, wait, since it’s green, it must be a Plant attribute spirit.

“Ah, I see. I’ll take my time with this.”
Fortunately, it’s still just barely the season for pruning trees.

As I was cutting off the broken branches, Kadal appeared. The orange and peach trees I had planted for crossbreeding had begun to stretch their branches.

“Thank you.”
When I expressed my gratitude, he averted his gaze in silence. Is he embarrassed, or is it something he shouldn’t be interfering with due to his role in maintaining order?

Plants grown from the Pantry’s supplies don’t give birth to new spirits. While there are spirits that come to check on them, none take residence. Well, they were created in exchange for my lifespan, so in a way, they’re not natural. It’s a waste to use Growth Powder, so I’ll manage on my own.

After finishing up with the orchard branches, I headed to the field and found Pal there. As the spirit of Earth and Abundance, his effects were remarkable. The vegetables here looked even plumper and more vibrant than yesterday.

Perhaps feeling sympathetic to the damage, he was lending a hand more generously than usual. —And then he looked away.

I also met Ish, Haralfa, and Mishto, but for some reason, when I greeted them, they either turned away or started healing something in another location.

What’s going on? Is it really that lending a hand this much is inappropriate, and they want to pretend they weren’t here?

While pondering this, I diligently cut off the damaged branches and pulled out the vegetables. Rishu, unusually imitative today, was tugging at the same vegetables beside me. Is she trying to help? Clever girl.

I gathered the cut branches to dry for kindling. The spoiled vegetables I took to the Livestock Shed for the animals to eat.

They seemed to enjoy it more than their usual feed, almost like a treat. Especially the broccoli stems; the chickens flocked around them. Their pecking was surprisingly strong and a bit intimidating.

I decided to take a break for lunch. I settled in a sunny spot, poured water for Rishu, and prepared my own meal. There are water channels nearby, but it just feels better this way.

Rice balls, sausages, and omelets. A simple menu, but delicious. After playing around with Rishu for a bit, I figured I’d apply some disease prevention medicine to the damaged branches. Within the barrier of this mountain, I shouldn’t have to worry about plant diseases or viruses, but since I learned they can break, it’s better to be safe.

“Well, this should do it.”
Thanks to the assistance from the gods, I finished much quicker than expected.

It was already evening, so I thought I’d take some supplies to the Earth Folk of the island. They say they can see well at night, but they must take meal breaks. I’m definitely bringing some meat and alcohol.

When I returned home, I found Rudil there. He was drawing something on the floor of the living room that connected to the terrace. He wasn’t sitting down; it looked like he was standing and letting magic power drip from his fingertips onto the floor.

“What’s going on?”
“For Rishu-sama.”

Uh… That doesn’t help me at all if you just say that and disappear… And he’s started calling Rishu “sama” now?

Looking at the floor, I noticed a familiar-looking magic circle drawn on one of the tiles. Moreover, a droplet of the spirit’s power was embedded within it.

When Rishu stepped onto it, the drawn patterns glowed faintly, and a rush of cold air burst forth. Is that a stronger version of the Chilling Plate? Is it for Rishu as we head into summer?

But I’m the one who’s cold!!!
