Chapter 384: A Stroll
“I’m interrupting your conversation. This is the exploration commemorative issue number 6 of the Es River, and number 7, or something like that. 【Teleportation】 ‘I’m interrupting. This is the exploration commemorative issue number 8, 9, 10, and 11 of the Es River.’ 【Teleportation】”
“Your Teleportation doesn’t use Magic Power—there’s no way, right? What’s with those exploration commemorative numbers?”
As Haulon pointed out, Teleportation does consume Magic Power. However, the amount I use is minimal compared to the Spirits. Some Spirits can’t even Teleport if they have a physical form, so it’s not guaranteed.
“The exploration commemorative names are the names of Spirits. ‘I’m interrupting. This is the exploration commemorative issue number 12 of the Es River.’ 【Teleportation】”
“Wait! That’s so sloppy! And what kind of speed is that?!”
Haulon is saying something, but I ignore him.
“Alright, if we’ve come this far, we should be close. We can take it slow now.”
The Relief in the Temple depicted water pouring from two jars into the body of a serpent. I guess the two tributaries flow together to form the Es River. Right now, the map shows the confluence of the two rivers.
I’ll come back later to name the Spirits around here. For now, I can’t focus solely on the Spirits since everyone is together.
Though the Spirits didn’t approach, a large, hippo-like creature suddenly attacked us. Dinoss cut down one, while I kicked another, which Karn then cleaved in half.
“Hmph…”
Karn snorted, glancing at the lifeless Demon Beast.
“So this is what the Demon Beasts around here are like.”
Dinoss rolled the Demon Beast with the tip of his sword, confirming its features.
“These sturdy, hippo-like Demon Beasts charge at you, but they tend to be stationary. When you get close, they just lunge at you. In muddy areas, there are creatures that hide like snapping turtles, which is a bit unsettling.”
“Hmm.”
Dinoss sheathed his sword while surveying the surroundings.
“Can I go home?”
Retze asked with a serious expression.
“It’s fine, I’ve got a Spirit protecting me. You can relax, right?”
“I can’t see it, though…”
Retze’s gaze turned distant at Haulon’s words.
“Having a visible bodyguard is definitely more reassuring. Um, ‘Is Wanwan around?'”
“You called, human?”
A pitch-black dog appeared, its large ears perked and its face sleek.
“Yeah. Can you guard Retze for a day? I’ll give you Magic Power now and after it’s over.”
As I said this, I transferred some Magic Power, and Wanwan accepted it.
“Indeed. It’s been a while since I’ve tasted a human’s Magic Power. Especially yours, it’s like sweet nectar among the rest, and it will grant your wishes.”
Wanwan said, settling next to Retze.
Ah, it’s a bit like taking a walk with a giant dog without a leash—how enviable.
“Hey. Karn and Haulon look like they’re about to pass out…”
“I don’t even know how to react.”
Dinoss and Retze exchanged glances.
“Ha ha ha! Bow down, humans!”
Wanwan proclaimed, striking a pose as if howling.
“The God of Storms and War, Stekar is…”
“Next to Retze…”
Karn and Haulon chimed in.
They puffed out their throats and pursed their lips, mimicking a howl. It’s adorable.
“From what everyone’s saying, it seems like this guy is the strongest around here when it comes to fighting, so I think we’re safe.”
Though I feel like Es is definitely stronger, that’s something entirely different from fighting.
“Can’t we go home…?”
“Wait. It hasn’t even been a quarter of an hour yet…”
Retze and Karn.
“Are you dissatisfied with the protection of this God of Storms and War, Wanwan?”
Wanwan puffed out his chest as he spoke.
“Ugh.”
Dinoss struggled to contain his laughter! No, he’s not managing to hold it in!
“To say I’m dissatisfied is utterly absurd…”
Haulon averted his gaze.
“It’s just that you’re too strong; it’s overkill for a bodyguard…”
“Oh, is that the case! Worry not, for to this Wanwan, any target other than the beautiful Es is but a diminutive existence!”
Wanwan boasted proudly beside a sulking Retze.
“Shall we move on? Otherwise, Karn and Haulon will weaken every time Wanwan speaks.”
Dinoss suggested.
“Ha ha ha! It may be daunting to hear my name, but today I shall allow it!”
Wanwan seems to be having a great time.
With Karn and Haulon, who are slightly swaying, we head upstream along the Es River.
“Shouldn’t we be seeing it soon?”
“What are you talking about?”
Dinoss asked.
“The point where the two rivers converge.”
“Hmm. The eyes of Black Es and White Es, the whirlpool of their birth.”
Wanwan responded to my words.
“Black, white…?”
Black is black, but what’s white?
“Indeed. The sacred milky-white river.”
Wanwan nodded pompously.
Milky Es! Wait, the way you say it!!!!
