Chapter 479: Mr. Fire Lizard
“The Flame Dragon… It’s an honor to see it,” Chris said, gazing dreamily at Dinoss’s Dragon Spirit.
“Yeah, it’s my partner,” Dinoss replied, grinning widely, his posture straightening with pride.
“Your expressions are quite similar,” the Butler remarked.
“Ugh,” Dinoss swallowed hard, and Haulon followed suit, both caught off guard by the Butler’s comment.
Now that he mentioned it, the Spirit stroking its chin did share a resemblance with Chris’s expression. The Butler is pretty calm, huh? His threshold for humor must be sky-high.
“I should have left the Shadow Wolf outside…” Haulon muttered quietly.
“I want to see it too,” Retze said, propping his chin on the desk as he watched the exchange.
“It’s just temporary, so should we take a look?”
“If it’s truly temporary, then sure. I hesitate a bit seeing Haulon and the others’ reactions, but it might be good to know what kind of world it is,” I said.
“Yes, yes,” I want to see it too, I want to see it too.
I quickly gathered the necessary items to create the Magic Circle and began drawing. Hmm, since this is meant to be visible to those with Magic Power, I guess I should adjust it around here.
“So you can easily fulfill requests like that,” Haulon said, sounding a bit weary.
“Hey, what’s for dinner today?” Dean cheerfully returned.
Recently, whenever Dean comes back from outside to eat, he washes his hands. Maybe it’s just when I’m around!
“Croquettes and Minestrone. If you’re hungry, I can add some meat too. But just wait a moment.”
“Take your time, but I want the meat too,” Dean said as he sat down, reaching for the snacks that Haulon and Chris had been eating.
I finished drawing the Magic Circle with a flourish.
“So? Why does Haulon look tired?” Dean asked casually, munching away.
“Who knows? What am I doing, I wonder? Did I want to create someone more tired than myself…?” Haulon replied, sounding defeated.
“Wise people say they have many worries. If Balmoa is struggling, I probably won’t be much help, but if there’s anything I can do, just let me know,” Dean said, effortlessly extending a hand of support.
“Don’t say something wise while sandwiched between a lizard! I don’t know how to react!” Haulon cried, covering his face in despair.
He was also the kind of guy who delivered the final blow. Well, yeah, it’s more like the lizard is nestled under his arm, occasionally peeking out and licking his armpit. It’s small, and unless you look at it from the front, you can’t see it well due to the muscles blocking the view.
The well-defined chest and arm muscles made for a good lizard hiding spot. The little guy was snugly tucked away, sometimes popping out for a peek. There are many Fire Spirits that take the form of lizards, and here they’re called Salamanders, right? Or is it a species name?
“Lizard…?” Dean tilted his head in confusion.
“Done! Now, about those croquettes and meat,” I announced, bringing out a large mug of beer along with the food. As promised, Dean got his meat.
“Yes, I’ve been waiting!” Dean exclaimed, his attention immediately shifting to the food.
“Ouch!” He bit into a croquette, clearly surprised by the heat. Still, he ate it with a look of delight.
There are also croquette-like foods here. They’re small and oval-shaped, often filled with a mix of grain flour and meat instead of potatoes. It varies by location. A bit strange.
“…You seem used to this, Gene,” Chris said, his eyes glued to the lizard, though he didn’t burst out laughing.
Dean’s lizard might lean more towards the recoiling side than the laughing side. After all, it was licking his armpit with its fiery tongue. Meanwhile, a girl-type Spirit was sniffing around his boots.
“I don’t know how to react… I’m glad my Spirit is a Dragon. No weird fetishes, thank goodness,” Dinoss said, looking shocked.
“There’s just too much information,” the Butler said, occasionally averting his gaze!
Haulon remained defeated!
“Is it okay to eat first? I feel like if I use this Magic Circle, I won’t be able to eat calmly afterward.”
“Yeah,” I nodded in response to Retze. It’s definitely better to eat first.
“Is everyone acting strange because of that Magic Circle?”
“Yeah,” I confirmed when Dean asked.
“So you admit it honestly…” Haulon interjected. I’m always honest!
“Dean, are you going to use it after you eat? You’ll get the bonus of seeing Dinoss’s cool Dragon Spirit up close right now.”
“I will!”
As expected of a fan, he answered immediately, even in such a suspicious situation. He eagerly reached for the meat.
“You… well, whatever. This croquette is delicious. Can I have another one?”
“Are you talking about the beef one?”
Retze held up one with large, crunchy breadcrumbs. The curry-flavored one had finer breadcrumbs and was a bit moist.
“Can you make this style over there?”
“I can!”
“I’ll pay you later, so please make some.”
Looks like Retze is a fan of the finer breadcrumbs for croquettes.
