Chapter 482: Dragon Material
Satisfied with everyone’s reactions in Kanum, I reflected on how the Spirit World is anything but straightforward. While there are Spirits that create incredibly beautiful realms, there are also many places that could lead one astray, much like Kokuzan-chan’s Spirit World. I need to be careful too.
After returning to my House, I took a leisurely stroll with Rishu to digest. I had been snacking aimlessly, but it felt like I hadn’t really eaten anything—such a strange feeling in my stomach. Maybe I should make some tea over rice?
I grilled salmon and cod roe, toasting sesame seeds as well. After a while, I peeled the skin off the salmon, sprinkled it with salt, and grilled it separately. Getting the skin just right is tricky; it needs to be crispy without burning.
As I nibbled on the crispy salmon skin, I cut the grilled cod roe into bite-sized pieces. I couldn’t use it all; it was too salty, so I saved the rest for the next tea over rice. Did I grill too much salmon this time?
I served the rice and flaked the salmon over it. I took out some partially used wasabi from [Storage] and grated a bit to add on top. I crumbled some seaweed and finished it off with sesame seeds.
As I enjoyed my tea over rice, I pondered tomorrow’s plans. What should I do? Since there are still Magic Circles left, maybe I should go to the Island and show the zabuton to Paorul the Elder?
But it’s not a permanent thing. It seems like the Spirits have high expectations for seeing things, so perhaps I should save it for a special occasion. I wonder how they would react to the overflowing staircase.
Alright. After tending to the Field, I’ll check on how Wanwan’s doghouse is doing with the Earth Folk.
After finishing my tea over rice, washing the dishes, and taking a Meal Break, I planned to name the Spirits. I could leave it to the Spirit’s Note, but sometimes I like to name them directly. I continued this while sipping coffee, then took a bath and said goodnight.
◇ ◆ ◇
“Hey! Soleil of the Island! Good to see you!”
“Soleil of the Island! Good to see you!”
“Good to see you!”
The Earth Folk were as lively as ever.
The representative—usually Gamri—would say a word, and someone would repeat or add to it, culminating in a chorus from the surrounding Earth Folk.
“Hello, how’s the doghouse?”
“Going great! We’re also working in the Red Silver Valley and Sulfur Valley.”
“The roof work in the Red Silver Valley is excellent.”
“Sulfur Valley excels in intricate carvings.”
“Very good.”
It seems they’ve divided their tasks according to their specialties.
I’ve started to recognize Gamri, but distinguishing the faces of the Earth Folk is still a challenge. They all look quite similar in build, and above all, they have so much fur!
With their stout bodies and sturdy, muted-colored clothing, they often wear vests that resemble scale mail, further obscuring their differences. Is this their fashion?
I have to rely on their faces, but the fur and beards! The area below their noses often blends together! Everyone has a forehead exposed, so I end up identifying them by their eyes. Maybe I can tell them apart by the braids in their beards?
“The doghouse isn’t ready yet, but Soleil of the Island, how about this?”
“How about this?”
“What do you think?”
They brought a tray covered with cloth in front of me.
“It’s incredibly hard, yet beautiful.”
“It would make great armor, but it’s beautiful.”
“Beautiful.”
What lay on the tray were beautifully crafted Dragon Scales with exquisite openwork. Dragon Scale armor is a fantasy staple, but it really is tough, huh? This is a sculpted ornament, but given the quantity, they might end up making armor from it too.
“I’d like to use this for the doghouse as well. What do you think?”
“How about embedding it in the walls?”
“How about placing it on either side of the entrance?”
“What do you think?”
“Yeah, the color is black, so it should work well. I’d be happy if the pattern included a bit of the river’s flow.”
The black Dragon Scales they brought had transformed into beautiful crafts.
The scales, polished to perfection, resembled deep black crystals. The openwork design featured intertwining flowers and leaves. Wanwan would surely prefer a pattern that included the Es River, though if it represented Wanwan, it would be a storm.
“Oh, and I’d love it if you could make me wall-mounted lampshades from these. I’ll take four.”
I recalled the black iron lampshades I had seen in Es. I’ll attach them in my gaming room; that sounds perfect.
“Understood. You may take this and the carved fangs with you, Soleil of the Island.”
“Understood. They originally belonged to you, so take them.”
“Understood. Take them.”
“Thank you!”
I’ve acquired some expensive-looking crafts!
The carved fangs were elegantly shaped like a single flower. The leaves wrapped around the stem, and while the white flower appeared pure, it also had a certain allure.
I planned to decorate the Tower with the fangs, and since I was guaranteed four additional scales, I’d give them to Soleil. I wonder if I could get a multi-layered sphere made from the fangs of a larger Dragon?
I should dismantle the red Dragon soon and have something made. Those scales reflecting the sunset were beautiful. Plus, I think the fangs were tinged with red first, so maybe I could create a flower that’s colored too?
At that moment, I thought so!
