Chapter 632: Setting the Destination
“Lanterns ready, okay!”
Inside the dome of the lantern, the Light Spirit waved at us.
Two lanterns of different sizes, one for Ash.
“Hmm. Is it really okay for me to take this?”
“Yeah. Just take it as it is.”
The sword wouldn’t be useful in this place, and this lantern would be better for protection.
“Who will carry the larger one? Anyone want to take it?”
“I’ll take it. It won’t be useful in combat anyway.”
Retze volunteered.
“If the sword isn’t useful, then I guess I won’t be much help either…”
Dean grumbled.
“The Spirit Sword that Lord Jean gave me… I never expected we’d end up in a place where its abilities would be needed so much…”
The Butler gazed off into the distance.
Now that I think about it, the Butler’s sword had a similar effect to Shiva’s, like it could deal damage to souls with Energy Drain, right? Though it was short like a knife. The Butler’s sword had already been transformed into a Spirit Sword by the pickled spirit.
The others had effects that could steal vision and poison, if I remember correctly. Speaking of which, back then, they talked a lot about the spirits and effects, but no one mentioned that I had prepared hidden weapons. Not even the Butler or Dinoss.
“By the way, Vine-chan’s Energy Drain only works if you touch something, so it won’t affect ghostly beings, so be careful.”
Since it could extend to touch objects, it had almost no effect on spiritual or mental entities.
“Ah, got it.”
Retze confirmed while checking the lantern.
“I think Chris’s Light Sword will shine in this situation!”
Though it was blinding.
“I’ll do my best to dispel the past fears along with the darkness!”
Chris beamed with a dazzling smile.
“And this will have a similar effect to the lantern.”
At least, it should.
“A Magic Circle? The activation is—ah, it’s the one you showed me before that crushes Magic Stones.”
Dinoss said as he received the talisman with the Magic Circle drawn on it.
“Exactly. When you want to activate it, just press the edge of the circle.”
Inside, there’s a fragile type of Magic Stone, and when it breaks, the magic power flows out, activating the Magic Circle.
“Ugh… such a casual way to change the world.”
Haulon looked like he might burst into tears.
By the way, the part where Mishto and Haralfa poured their power in, the Magic Circle has disappeared… I guess when you channel magic, it becomes visible? Unlike last time, it’s hidden inside the layered structure!
Those two can be quite mischievous, so I’m a bit worried.
“For now, we’re just going to look around the island, so as long as we stay within the lantern’s light, we should be fine.”
Since we’re searching for the Traveler’s Stone, there shouldn’t be any need to use the Magic Circle.
“…A picnic.”
Dinoss muttered, and beside him, Haulon looked like he was sinking into despair.
“Are we ready?”
I distributed the items and looked around at everyone’s faces.
“I’m good.”
Ash nodded.
“All set!”
Dean flashed his usual manly smile.
“Perfectly ready!”
Chris was full of energy.
“I’ve done everything I could to prepare.”
Retze seemed to have done quite a bit of organizing.
“Well, there’s nothing more we can do.”
Dinoss shrugged.
“I can’t muster the resolve.”
Haulon sighed.
“Not being able to prepare yourself is understandable in a place beyond human comprehension.”
The Butler shook his head gently.
Since it seems like it will take some time for these two to gather their resolve, I’ll take it as a win if we’re ready with our gear.
“【Teleportation】!”
And so, we all headed to the Land of Ruin. With a large group, there’s nothing to fear!
“Scary!!!!”
Dean jumped back at the black shadow looming before us.
“Dean, I understand the urge to jump back, but try not to step outside the lantern’s light.”
Retze remained calm.
“Well, this is… just as I heard. There really are black ghosts lurking everywhere.”
Dinoss surveyed the surroundings.
“Blue-white mist, crumbling stone ruins, cursed wandering shadows. Hands beckoning to drag the living into their grasp—this is the Land of Ruin.”
Chris murmured in a tone that was slightly different from usual.
“They really don’t come close to the light. Plus, the places that should be shadowed by us are still bright.”
Haulon seemed more interested in the lantern’s effects.
The Great Sage is quick to adapt!
The shadows cast by us within the lantern’s effective range were minimal, as if illuminated directly from above, and the lantern’s light fell in a round shape, unaffected by the terrain’s undulations.
The two lanterns held by Retze and Ash created two circular pools of light. They looked like snowmen. Well, the colors weren’t exactly snow-like, and they weren’t really snowmen either.
“Now then, let’s move to the port town where the Traveler’s Stone might have fallen. If there’s somewhere you want to go first, that’s fine too.”
“Of course there isn’t!!!”
Haulon shouted.
“Oh, I want to see the Great Sage’s weather vane in person!”
Dean raised his hand.
“Me too!”
Chris joined in.
“Hmm. Since we’ve come all this way, I’d like to see it.”
Ash agreed.
“Isn’t this adaptability a bit too high?! Is it youth?!”
Dinoss shouted.
Well, yeah, outside the light, there are plenty of writhing black shadows. But since they mentioned targeting the weather vane from the ship, it seems like a port town. That should be a good destination, right?
