Chapter 168: Breakfast Outdoors
As Rest descended to the surface, Viola and Primula peeked out from inside the tent.
“Ah, Rest. Good morning!”
“Good morning! You’re up early.”
“Yeah, good morning. I woke up early and decided to take a little stroll.”
Viola and Primula were changing out of their disheveled negligees. Thankfully, this allowed for a normal conversation without any awkwardness regarding where to look.
“Well then, I’ll start preparing breakfast… before Yuri wakes up.”
Primula glanced nervously towards the back of the tent as she spoke.
“Oh… so Yuri is still asleep?”
“Yes… it seems that Yuri struggles with mornings.”
“Well, that’s exactly what I expected. No surprises there.”
It felt very much in character for Yuri to be a late riser. If she joined in the breakfast preparations, things would likely become complicated, so it was better to get everything ready before she woke up.
“Honestly, I think if you two didn’t prepare it, the servants would handle it if asked.”
“Well, I think that too,” Viola replied with a wry smile, shrugging her shoulders.
“But since we’re here to help you, Rest, we should do what we can ourselves, right?”
“We’ll get everything ready quickly, so please wait for us, Rest.”
Viola and Primula ignited a fire with magic and began preparing breakfast. They cracked eggs into a frying pan, and once the yolks were perfectly set, they added bacon, seasoning it with salt and pepper. Then, they placed the bacon and fried eggs atop the toast they had been grilling separately.
“Oh, what a delicious-looking meal!”
The toast topped with fried eggs and bacon looked incredibly appetizing, reminiscent of the mouthwatering dishes seen in foreign animations.
“Yawn… Good morning, everyone.”
Just as breakfast was ready, Yuri appeared, yawning. She had not changed and was still in her negligee. While her lower curves were thankfully hidden, her cute belly button was still visible.
“It smells wonderful… Is breakfast already ready?”
“Ah, good morning, Yuri… but what are you wearing?”
“Yuri, you can get ready quickly, so please change first.”
“Alright… Ah, good morning to you too, Rest.”
“…Good morning.”
Rest returned the greeting while trying to avert his gaze from Yuri’s exposed belly button. After a short while, Yuri emerged from the tent, now dressed. The four of them sat around the campfire, ready to enjoy their breakfast.
“It’s delicious…!”
Rest took a bite of the toast and couldn’t help but express his honest opinion. Despite the simple seasoning of salt and pepper, the flavor was surprisingly rich.
(This world has eggs that are somehow… richer than those in Japan. Even with light seasoning, they are satisfying enough to enjoy…!)
Perhaps the breed of chicken that lays the eggs was different. The fried eggs made from these rich eggs were incredibly tasty and held their own against the savory bacon.
“Nom, nom…”
Across from Rest, Yuri was also engrossed in devouring her toast.
“This is so good… It’s such a simple dish, yet incredibly delicious…!”
“It seems you really like it, Yuri.”
“Yes, I love it!”
Yuri nodded enthusiastically in response to Primula’s question.
“I like eggs too, but I’ve only ever eaten them boiled or raw. I had no idea there were cooking methods like this.”
“I-I’ll teach you next time.”
“Ah, I’d be happy to learn.”
Yuri flashed an innocent smile at Primula, who looked a bit taken aback. Although Yuri mentioned that she cooked for herself in the dormitory, her cooking methods were generally rough and straightforward. She mostly relied on frying or boiling.
(Still, yesterday’s steak was delicious, so she probably just lacks experience but has talent…)
If she learned from Viola and Primula, she would surely improve. In that sense, this camp could be quite beneficial for Yuri. Rest thought about this while taking another bite of his toast.
