Commoner with Infinite Magic – Chapter 252

Chapter 251: The Monster’s Frustration

Under the glow of numerous bonfires, a large crowd of villagers danced and laughed joyfully.

“It’s a feast!”

“Drink up! Drink the sake!”

“We’ve got shark sashimi too! The stew is delicious!”

That night, a grand celebration was held. The only difference from the previous occasion was that this time, the festivities took place on the beach rather than in an inn. All the villagers gathered on the brightly lit sandy shore, where the bonfires blazed, indulging in a raucous celebration filled with singing and dancing.

At the center of the feast lay the main dish: a Unicorn Shark caught by Rest. The villagers had expertly filleted it, transforming it into sashimi and stew, which they relished with delight.

“Come on, let’s dance!”

“Sing along! Fish, oh fish, come to me!”

“Hey, hey!”

The revelry was even more spirited than the day before. The villagers sang, danced, drank, and feasted on the beach, which glowed with an unnatural brightness for a night after sunset, filled with laughter and joy.

‘…………’

However, there was someone secretly observing this celebration. From the depths of the dark sea, a pair of eyes peered out, glaring enviously at the villagers enjoying their festivities on the shore.

“Gyaaaah…!”

The creature lamenting was a Monster that had been attacking the fishing village. In its eyes, there was a hint of regret. It had a fondness for humans. More accurately, it relished in tormenting them, drawing out their screams of agony. That was why it had targeted this fishing village, to toy with them, to inflict pain while keeping them alive, treating them like playthings.

But then, an unexpected human had disrupted its enjoyment. This human had dared to fight back, unleashing a fierce bolt of lightning that caused it real pain. While such lightning was not fatal to it, it was akin to a mouse’s bite—annoying, even if it didn’t threaten its life. More than anything, it felt a deep frustration at being struck back by such a frail creature.

“Gya, gya!”

In its frustration, it had destroyed the strange facility that the humans cherished—the Oyster Farm. Yet, despite having their precious property wrecked, the humans continued to revel in their merriment. How infuriating!

“Gya…”

It longed to attack the humans, to turn their joyful shouts into screams of despair. Yet, it couldn’t shake the thought that the human who had struck it with lightning might still be among them. It loved tormenting humans, but it despised feeling pain.

“Gyaaa…!”

Then, it turned its gaze away from the beach, swimming slowly through the dark waters towards another facility that the humans held dear: the Pearl Farm. This time, it would destroy this place. This time, it would truly disappoint them and make them suffer.

With its grotesque mouth twisted in a malicious grin, it prepared to strike the aquaculture farm with its long tail.

“Alright, it’s hooked!”

In the darkness, a sharp whistling sound sliced through the air. In the next moment, a low thud echoed as a searing pain shot through its tail.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!?”

“Hit! That’s two!”

Startled by the unexpected pain, it tried to retract its tail. However, it found it wouldn’t move properly. Upon closer inspection, it realized a long, black rope connected its tail to the shore.

After a brief pause, another wave of excruciating pain surged through it.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

“So, you showed up after all… It’s easy to predict what a nasty creature like you would do.”

“Gya!?”

An orange flame flickered to life, illuminating a figure in the light. It was a young man. Though the Monster couldn’t distinguish between humans, it instinctively recognized him as the one who had struck it with lightning before.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

“That’s three!”

Amidst the pain and fury, the Monster cried out as the young man, Rest Clover, launched a metal harpoon straight at it.
