Chapter 299: A New Mission
The date for the party was set for a month later. Although it felt a bit early for preparations, both Viola and Primula had already begun their tasks. Given the grand scale of noble parties, it wasn’t unusual to start preparations well in advance. The mansion bustled with activity as people came and went, working diligently.
“Well then… I suppose I should get moving too.”
“What do you plan to do, Rest?”
The voice that chimed in was Yuri’s. She trotted alongside Rest like an eager puppy, tilting her head innocently as she walked. While the Rosemary Sisters busied themselves with party preparations, Rest had left the mansion with Yuri, who seemed to be idly waiting for something to do.
“Those two are unusually enthusiastic, you know… Honestly, there’s not much for me to do regarding the venue setup or arranging chefs and servants.”
Viola and Primula were energetically progressing with their preparations. They were directing the servants brought from the Rosemary Marquis House, working with a lively spirit. It was their first task as mistresses of the house, and they were so engrossed that Rest felt he had no place in their efforts.
“Well, I don’t really understand the ins and outs of nobility… It’s probably more accurate to leave it to them rather than meddle.”
“Ah, you’re just like me then. I don’t know much about noble etiquette or rules either!”
“No… You should at least know that. You’re a marquis daughter, after all…”
Really… What kind of life had Yuri led in the Cattleya Marquis House? From the very first meeting, it was clear she was far too carefree for a noble lady.
“So, you’re just wandering around town to play, huh?”
“I’m not playing… I’m actually going to work now.”
“Work?”
“Yes, I’m going to procure ingredients for the dishes to be served at the party.”
The party would feature a plethora of dishes. The ingredients and chefs would be sent from the Rosemary Marquis House. However, for the Clover Count House, this was their first party. They wanted to serve dishes and wines that were rarely tasted.
“When I asked if there was anything I could help with, they asked me to find some rare ingredients and wines. They said that would be enough.”
“I see, I see… Sounds like they just wanted to get rid of you without causing a fuss.”
“……..”
Yuri had hit a sore spot. Rest had a nagging feeling that might be the case. With nothing for him to do in the party preparations, it seemed he had merely been assigned a vague task.
“Well, I might just be imagining things since I don’t really know.”
“Yeah, well… It feels like itβs better not to think too deeply about it.”
Rest shook his head, trying to dispel the unsettling thoughts. Regardless, it was a request from Viola and Primula. Since they had asked him, he had to give it his all.
“Even though they said rare ingredients… I can’t serve anything too bizarre to the guests. I think I should do a little research.”
“What about monster meat? I recommend worms!”
“I just said not to serve anything strange… But, well, monster meat might be an option.”
As Yuri pointed out, some monsters were considered delicacies and were enjoyed by certain people. While some viewed them as grotesque, having one or two such dishes might not be a bad idea.
“If you’re going to hunt monsters, I’ll help! That’s my specialty!”
“Ah… I trust your nose for food. I’m counting on you.”
“Leave it to me!”
Yuri beamed with a bright smile. Though she had a somewhat adventurous palate, there had never been a miss when she claimed something was delicious. She would surely excel in acquiring rare delicacies.
Thus, the mission assigned for the party preparations was to procure unusual ingredients. Rest and Yuri embarked on their culinary quest together.
