Episode 25
The day after I got so caught up in searching the basement that I missed curfew by a mile and got a thorough scolding from the dorm supervisor.
I kept observing Millie from morning to make sure I didn’t miss her joining a Harem.
I know it’s early since it’s only been about a week since we enrolled, but I can’t help but follow Millie with my eyes because I have nothing else to do.
I thought it might be unnatural to stare too much, but there were so many guys looking at her more blatantly than I was, so it didn’t matter. If anything, I think I’m hiding it well.
As a result of stalking… I mean, observing Millie all the way until after school, I found out the man closest to Millie right now is—
“Oh, Geld-kun. Are you going straight home to study again today?”
“Well… yeah. I can’t lose to that guy, you know…”
“Eh, what’s that? Like you have a rival…? W-Who is it?”
“Don’t ask nosy questions… this is a match where only he and I stake our pride…”
“What kind of character is that? Haa, oh well. See you next week!”
“O-oh.”
—It was me.
This isn’t just me being conceited, it really was me, but that doesn’t mean I’m particularly liked.
Millie is an Archangel and an unwitting Succubus, so she treats everyone equally, regardless of gender, looks, or school caste status, though she doesn’t treat everyone exactly the same.
Even Millie, after about a week since enrolling, hardly talks to the boys in her class anymore. The reason for that wasn’t Millie, but the boys.
The reactions of the boys who are spoken to by Millie can be roughly divided into two types.
First, there’s the type who gets flustered no matter what. They keep darting their eyes around and stuttering so much that you can’t even understand what they’re saying anymore. It can’t be helped if Millie decides it might be better not to talk to them anymore.
And the other type is the type who becomes brusque because they’re too self-conscious. They become cold, going beyond cool, and Millie, who spoke to them, ends up feeling dejected. Millie isn’t the type of girl who would sever a relationship after being treated coldly once, but if it happens repeatedly, she’ll hardly be spoken to anymore.
And then there’s me, the only one left. I sometimes lean towards the latter, cooler type, but I’ve managed to pass the ridiculously low bar of being able to communicate, and I’m the only one in the class who can.
However, I can’t laugh at those guys who are spinning their wheels. If I were a normal fifteen-year-old, I would have ended up just like them. I probably would have become a pretty harsh, brusque type.
Anyway, that’s how I found out that there are no future Harem Bastards in this class. There’s no one here who can pull off a major comeback from here.
That means it’s another class, or perhaps another grade… but I haven’t confirmed any noticeable contact points yet.
Men often come from elsewhere to get a glimpse of Millie, and among them, there are men, no, heroes, who muster up the courage to talk to her. But there isn’t a man who has succeeded in building a close relationship after that.
“Hmm…”
Things have been going smoothly so far, but it seems like I’ve entered a phase where I have to settle down and wait patiently.
I’m getting impatient because I’ve stalled just a little bit before the end, but fortunately, I’m used to waiting. The three years I spent pointlessly searching for the Harem Bastard at Royal Ukyak Academy have greatly trained my patience. All that’s left is—oh.
As I was leaving the school building to return to the dorm, I spotted a detestable bastard surrounded by several female students.
Thinking this might be it, I casually approached to check the situation.
“…Never mind.”
Since this is a beautiful girl Harem RPG, of course all the heroines must be beautiful girls. From that point of view, the Harem in front of me right now is a little unqualified, to put it mildly. I’ll pretend I didn’t see it and quickly distance myself. I’m sorry for thinking you were detestable.
But before I knew it, I had started thinking about things with Millie at the center, so maybe it would be good to go back to the basics and look for the Harem Bastard.
Once I find the Harem Bastard, the rest will be easy. After that, I just have to focus on him and Millie making contact, or I could even forcefully bring them together myself.
On Saturday and Sunday, I went out to the city and browsed through general stores and other places, searching for new goods for abduction and confinement, and then Monday arrived. Today is the start of the search for the Harem Bastard.
I could raid each classroom and search them one by one like I did at Royal Ukyak Academy last time, but since finding the Harem Bastard this time is just a stretch goal, I want to do it smartly without being too forceful.
The way to find him is simple. Just look for that conspicuous Blonde Long Twin-tails, and if there’s a man next to her, he’s the Harem Bastard. It might be too rash to jump to conclusions based on that alone, but at least he should be a strong candidate.
“Uooooooohhhhhh… Zuaaahhh!”
With a spirit-rending shout, I activated the ‘Mur’ spell with manual operation, and a volleyball-sized fireball shot out from the tip of my finger with great force.
The brightly burning crimson flames quickly lost momentum and flew off in an unreliable trajectory in the wrong direction, hitting the wall far from the target and disappearing with a soft pop.
“…”
“…Y-Yeah. It flew forward properly. It’s from here, Geld-kun.”
Speaking of Monday, the mornings are Magic Studies and Magic Practice Alpha. Magic Studies wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for Seven, but Magic Practice Alpha is a different story. Once again, I’m the only one who stumbled badly, and Millie, who achieved the most spectacular results, is once again giving me a one-on-one lesson.
The other guys should have pretended they couldn’t do it this time since they showed such a disgraceful performance last time, but whether they learned their lesson from that futile psychological warfare, they all turned to the side that could do it. They’re still glaring at me with resentful faces, but I won’t give our cute Millie to guys who give up after failing just once. Besides, what were those guys planning to do even if they got a one-on-one lesson? They wouldn’t be able to talk properly anyway.
“I think it’ll be okay if you make the flow of Mana as thin and strong as possible, and also straight.”
“Hmm hmm. Thin, strong, and straight…”
“That’s right, that’s right. Once you get used to it, it’s enough to just be aware of your fingertips, but first, from around your wrist, like this, imagine shooting it straight out from the back of your hand through your fingertips.”
“Mmm mmm…”
“If you can do that, you should be able to fly it as you aim even from a Wand. Do your best, Geld-kun, you’re almost there!”
However, it’s no wonder the guys are harboring murderous intent. Right now, Millie is demonstrating the true nature of an unwitting Succubus, supporting my hand with one hand while tracing from my wrist to my fingertips with the other.
Boys in their adolescence fall in love just by accidentally touching fingers when trying to pick up an eraser at the same time, so it’s truly outrageous for her to touch a man so unhesitatingly.
If the other boys were treated like this, they would misunderstand in an instant and become malicious stalkers without a doubt. I thought I should avoid one-on-one lessons to keep my distance, but maybe I should monopolize the role of receiving Millie-sensei’s teachings.
“Nuuuuuuu… Doryaaahhh!”
I’ll succeed next time—the deadly fire bullet, shot out with a determination similar to conviction, was shot straight down the moment it left my finger and burst at my feet.
“Gwaaaaahhhh!”
“Geld-kun!? S-Stay still! I’ll put it out right away!”
I was rolling around in flames, but water was splashed on me and I was able to put it out quickly. It seems Millie used the ‘Towa’ spell to create water.
“Are you okay!? Are you burned!?”
“Ah… I’m okay, I’m okay. I’ve accidentally become a human torch a few times, but I was unharmed even when I burned about twice as much as this time.”
“I see… Geld-kun, let’s stop using fire, okay?”
“No, no, it’s safe now because it’s flooded. I should have done this from the beginning.”
“Hmm…? Is that so…?”
Beyond Millie, who was tilting her head with a puzzled expression as if she wasn’t convinced by my logical idea, I could see male students pointing at us and laughing. It seems they’re mocking me for making such a terrible mistake.
Those guys don’t understand anything. They’re really foolish. They’re misunderstanding the essence of things.
Are there any of those guys who have ever been drenched in Millie’s water? There aren’t. And I have. So that means I win.
