Character Introductions
Ferno Desire
The protagonist. Standing at approximately 185 cm and weighing 88 kg, he possesses a muscular build, with light brown hair and black eyes that give him a decent level of handsomeness. Born in the countryside and raised on the battlefield, he lacks formal education; however, thanks to the memories of his past life that have begun to awaken, he possesses wisdom beyond the ordinary and has acquired knowledge necessary for survival. Having been immersed in the battlefield for a long time, he is rich in experience and knowledge in that regard, capable of serving as a commander in large-scale battles if he so desires. However, due to his temperament, he prefers to resolve matters quickly, and since he is stronger than the average soldier or knight, he often charges into battle with enthusiasm rather than taking on leadership roles.
His preferred combat style involves swinging his sword with all his might to unleash area attacks. However, due to his chronic lack of funds—stemming from his prioritization of supporting allies and healing over personal gain—he rarely fights in this manner. The Demon King’s Army is most familiar with his grappling style, where he tears out hearts and throats with his bare hands, or his indiscriminate area attacks using whatever is at hand. Although this style is physically taxing and ineffective against the Demon King’s Army Executives, he can wield magic to a degree, using it as one of his tactical options in battle.
Ferno holds a deep respect for human life, existence, and the way people live, a belief rooted in his soul since his past life as a Japanese man. Consequently, even when he is battered and bruised, he cooperates in rebuilding efforts and prioritizes aiding others over his own weapons and armor. However, he does not harbor a desire to save everyone; he will help those in immediate danger but will pass by those who are not. If anyone interferes with his efforts to resolve his own burdens, he will crush them, regardless of their worthiness. This fundamental belief has led to a clash with the Saint, who believes in treating everyone with kindness, regardless of her feelings for him. Notably, Ferno has remained a virgin throughout his past life, yet he is the strongest in the world.
Fana Faritia
A Holy Knight and potential heroine. At 180 cm tall and weighing 60 kg, she is a stunning 22-year-old beauty with long red hair and striking red eyes, her body well-defined with muscle from her arms to her abdomen. Born into the Faritia Marquis family, her father is the current head and the captain of the knight order in the Alstoval Kingdom, and she is recognized as a leading candidate to become the next captain herself. However, she is also known for her reckless nature; despite understanding the traps laid before her, she often charges headfirst into danger. If her father were to learn that she is closely allied with Ferno, he would undoubtedly become furious before calming down to give her a thorough lecture.
Despite her impulsiveness, Fana is strong, capable of holding off Demon King Army Executives for over three days on her own. Her combat style focuses on endurance and counterattacks, utilizing her significantly more robust physique compared to Ferno. While she possesses above-average swordsmanship, Ferno’s offensive capabilities are more than sufficient, leading her to specialize in prolonged battles while Ferno recovers from injuries or ailments. However, she cannot fight without weapons and requires at least two iron swords to engage in combat.
Fana believes in the goodness of humanity and that good deeds will be rewarded in kind. This conviction allows her to act without hesitation when helping others, even if it means risking her expensive attire. Her selfless nature remains unchanged even while traveling with the Hero party, leading to instances where she loses her sword or exhausts her potions. When Ferno learns of these incidents, he accepts them without anger. Naturally, she is unmarried and has never had a romantic partner, remaining a virgin throughout her life, often referred to as a “female warrior” or “gorilla” due to her strength.
Elifia Oze
The Saint. Standing at 152 cm and weighing 44 kg, she is a petite girl with golden hair and shimmering green eyes, embodying the essence of delicacy and grace. Her personality is gentle and kind-hearted towards everyone, but she is notably indifferent to Ferno, showing no interest in forming a relationship with him. There are reasons for this, but fundamentally, she and Ferno do not align, leading her to desire a relationship that remains no deeper than acquaintances. She is 20 years old.
Elifia has a promise of marriage with a boy from her hometown, and she constantly thinks of him. She prays for him for more than half of each day, writes him letters daily, and finds solace in these thoughts. Those who know her situation often refer to her as a “love-crazed woman” in hushed tones. She is not a virgin.
Trinika Kianis
The Sage. Standing at 160 cm and weighing 45 kg, she has a slender, model-like figure with long blue hair and blue eyes. Her personality is one of extreme self-esteem, believing herself to be superior to all other beings due to her exceptional talent within the Magic Union. Her disdain for Ferno stems from a simple dislike of his appearance, but more so from his position as a Hero, which she feels is beneath her as a Sage. She has spun tales that portray Ferno as anything but a true Hero, weaving history and fiction into a narrative that aligns with her desires.
Despite her overwhelming talent, which allows her to wield all known magic, she is fundamentally weak, capable of only facing upper-tier demons from the Demon King’s Army alone. When confronted by the true power of the Demon King’s Army Executives, she would undoubtedly be defeated, as evidenced by the prologue where Ferno had to flee to a city under siege by the Demon King’s Army Executives.
King of the Alstoval Kingdom
The 25th king of the largest kingdom in the world, Alstoval, he is a father with three wives, four sons, and four daughters. He prioritizes the survival and prosperity of his kingdom, possessing the courage to sacrifice the lives of his wives, children, and even his own life if it means a better future. He is willing to incorporate bandit factions into his army if it serves the kingdom’s interests and can easily discard merchants who have long been favored by the royal family.
He had originally intended to bestow the title of Hero upon Ferno, planning to use it as a means to regulate Ferno’s freedom of action. However, due to the rushed circumstances, he ended up granting the title merely to ensure Ferno’s status and position. He believes that Ferno holds an average level of regard for him, but from Ferno’s perspective, he feels that the king only provided him with a dull sword, making the king’s favor below average among those he interacts with. Without his royal status, the king might have faced severe consequences, such as being killed in an accident or completely ignored.
Pope of the Holy Divine Church
One of the three leaders of the largest religion in the world, the Pope is the 14th in succession. His ideology is one of abolitionism; he will not tolerate any existence that disrupts the peace inscribed in the Holy Divine Church’s scriptures, even if they are fellow believers. Thus, had Elifia Oze, the current Saint, not been deemed chosen by God, he would have either imprisoned her for trial or isolated her in a remote monastery for rigorous training to become a devout believer.
The upper echelons of the Holy Divine Church, including the Pope, do not intend to deny personal indulgences, recognizing that individuals may engage in such acts as long as they do not disturb others.
Leader of the Magic Union
A gathering of outcasts uninterested in the mundane, the Magic Union is composed of those who study magic. The leader has been a member since its inception, a human who transcends the limits of humanity. He has shown no interest in the recent resurrection of the Demon King, having previously investigated the phenomenon centuries ago. However, he has chosen to attend the current meeting regarding the Demon King’s resurrection simply out of curiosity about Ferno’s monstrous abilities.
He is indifferent to any negative reputation he may acquire, as he is surrounded by individuals who conduct ethically questionable research, such as human experimentation and biological weaponry. Thus, the notion of tarnishing his name by undermining a recognized Hero to elevate a puppet as the new Hero is of no concern to him. Conversely, he views the troublesome Sage, Trinika Kianis, as a pest that should be eradicated.
Demon King
A being that is reborn at irregular intervals, the Demon King seeks the annihilation of humanity, giving birth to intelligent beings known as the Demon Race and commanding mindless creatures called Monsters to form the Demon King’s Army for invasion and extermination. Only the Heroes of history have seen the Demon King, yet they have not described his appearance, leaving no information about him in historical records. What is known is that he is a being that continues to live until the moment of death in the place of his rebirth, and one glance is enough to recognize him as the source of tragedy.
Demon King’s Army
A military force born from the combination of the Demon Race and Monsters. The basic formation of the Demon King’s Army indiscriminately attacks humanity, killing lives. However, when led by the intelligent Demon Race, the army employs various strategies to corner humanity and exterminate them. Among them, the so-called Demon King’s Army Executives possess such overwhelming power that they can only be referred to as monsters. In the present day, there exists a being within the Demon King’s Army that instills fear; even powerful demons flee before Ferno Desire, a true monster.
Demon King’s Army Executives
These are the demons that have reached a level of power second only to the Demon King, born simultaneously with his resurrection. They serve as commanders leading numerous demons and monsters, possessing abilities that can drag stars from the sky, drain oceans in an instant, stop time, or unleash disasters. The number of these beings varies from a minimum of three to a maximum of seventy-five, depending on the Demon King’s rebirth. Regardless of their numbers, only a select few can contend with them, and recklessly challenging them without a plan only leads to unnecessary devastation. In this recent resurrection, thirteen Demon King’s Army Executives were born, nine of whom have already been defeated by Ferno.
Angels
The agents and spokespersons of God, they serve as the executors of the world. While they possess immense power, they are not omniscient or omnipotent, leading to numerous failures. Broadly speaking, they can be considered a type of humanity, yet they have shed much of their humanity to fulfill their role of observing and mediating the world under God’s authority.
God
An omniscient and omnipotent being, existing solely as such.
