Former Hero Stripped of Powers Still Overpowered – Chapter 5

Character Introductions

Ferno Desire
The protagonist. Standing at approximately 185 cm and weighing 88 kg, he possesses a muscular build, with light brown hair and black eyes, making him a reasonably handsome figure. Born in the countryside and raised on the battlefield, he lacks formal education; however, thanks to the memories of his previous life, he possesses above-average wisdom and has acquired knowledge necessary for survival. Having spent a long time immersed in the chaos of war, he is well-versed in military tactics and could serve as a commander in a legion if he so desired. Yet, due to his nature, he prefers to resolve conflicts swiftly, and being stronger than the average soldier or knight, he eagerly dives into battle instead.

His favored combat style involves swinging his sword with full force to unleash area attacks. However, due to chronic financial shortages—stemming from his tendency to prioritize supporting allies and healing over personal gain—he rarely fights in this manner. The Demon Lord’s Army is most familiar with his grappling style, where he tears out hearts and throats with his bare hands, or his indiscriminate area attacks using whatever is at hand. Despite the significant energy expenditure of these techniques, he refrains from using them against the Demon Lord’s Army executives, as they are ineffective. Nevertheless, he can wield magic to a degree, using it as one of his tactics in battle.

Ferno holds a deep respect for human life, existence, and the way of living, a belief rooted in his soul since his previous life as a Japanese man. Thus, even when injured, he contributes to reconstruction efforts and prioritizes aiding others over his own weapons and armor. However, he does not harbor a desire to save everyone; he will help those in immediate danger but will pass by others without a second thought. If anyone interferes with his current responsibilities, he will crush them, regardless of their worthiness. This fundamental belief has led to a clash with the Saint, who believes in kindness towards all, regardless of her feelings for him. Notably, he remains a virgin despite being the strongest in the world.

Fana Faritia
A Holy Knight and potential heroine. At 180 cm tall and weighing 60 kg, she is a 22-year-old beauty with long red hair and red eyes, her physique robustly muscular from her training. Born into the House of Faritia, her father is the current head and the Knight Commander of the Kingdom of Alstovar. Fana is recognized as a leading candidate for the next Knight Commander due to her exceptional abilities. However, she is also known for her reckless nature, often charging headfirst into danger despite recognizing traps. If her father were to discover that she is closely allied with Ferno, he would undoubtedly be furious, eventually calming down to deliver a reasoned lecture.

Fana has proven her strength by fighting alongside Ferno against the Demon Lord’s Army, capable of holding her own against high-ranking demons for over three days. Her preferred combat style focuses on endurance and counterattacks rather than the one-on-one knightly duels that Ferno excels in. While she possesses considerable swordsmanship skills, Ferno’s offensive capabilities are more than sufficient, leading her to specialize in prolonged battles during his absences due to injury or poison. However, she cannot fight without weapons, requiring at least two iron swords to engage in combat.

Believing in the goodness of humanity, Fana acts without hesitation to help others, even if it means sacrificing her own possessions. She would dive into a filthy ditch to retrieve something for someone in need, regardless of the cost. This selflessness remains unchanged even during her adventures with the hero party, leading to instances where she loses her sword or exhausts her potions. When Ferno learns of these incidents, he accepts them without anger. Naturally, she is unmarried and has never had a romantic partner, remaining a virgin, having been labeled a “female warrior” or “gorilla” for much of her life.

Elifia Oz
The Saint. Standing at 152 cm and weighing 44 kg, she is a petite girl with golden hair and shimmering green eyes, embodying the essence of delicacy and grace. Her gentle nature and kindness extend to everyone, except for Ferno, to whom she remains consistently indifferent, avoiding any deeper relationship. There are reasons for this, but fundamentally, she and Ferno do not align, leading her to desire a relationship that remains no more than acquaintances. She is 20 years old.

Elifia has a promise of marriage with a boy from her hometown, whom she thinks of daily. She prays for him for more than half of each day and writes him letters regularly, seeking comfort in her devotion. Those aware of her situation have dubbed her “love-crazed” in hushed tones. Notably, she is no longer a virgin.

Trinica Kianis
The Sage. Standing at 160 cm and weighing 45 kg, she has a slender, model-like figure with long blue hair and blue eyes. Trinica is a bundle of self-esteem, believing herself superior to all beings due to her exceptional talent within the Magic Association. Her disdain for Ferno stems from a simple dislike of his appearance, but more so from the fact that he, as a hero, has commanded her, which she found intolerable. She has spun a narrative that Ferno is not a true hero, intertwining history and fiction to support her claims, which has inadvertently aligned with her desires.

Despite her overwhelming talent for magic, which allows her to wield all spells recorded in history, she is fundamentally weak. She can only contend with high-ranking demons at best. When faced with the formidable executives of the Demon Lord’s Army, she would undoubtedly lose, as evidenced by the prologue where Ferno single-handedly confronted one of them, leading to chaos in the city.

King of the Kingdom of Alstovar
The 25th king of the largest kingdom in the world, Alstovar, he is a father of four sons and four daughters with three wives. He prioritizes the survival and prosperity of his kingdom, possessing the courage to sacrifice the lives of his wives, children, and even his own for a better future. He is willing to integrate bandit factions into his army if it serves the kingdom’s interests and can easily discard long-time merchants who have served the royal family.

He had originally intended to bestow the Title of Hero upon Ferno as a means to regulate his freedom and activities, viewing it as a collar. However, due to the circumstances surrounding the title’s bestowal, it ended up being a mere guarantee of status and position. He believes that his relationship with Ferno is average, but from Ferno’s perspective, he feels that he was given nothing more than a dull sword by someone who would be of little use at the start of his journey, resulting in a below-average opinion of the king among those he interacts with. Without his royal status, he might have faced assassination disguised as an accident or complete disregard.

Pope of the Holy Spirit Church
One of the three leaders of the largest religion in the world, the Pope is the 14th in a long line of successors. His ideology is one of abolitionism; he does not tolerate any disruptive elements, even among fellow believers, and will eliminate them to achieve the peace outlined in the Holy Spirit Church’s scriptures. Consequently, if Elifia Oz, the current Saint, were not deemed chosen by God, she would likely be arrested and tried, facing either execution or isolation in a remote monastery for rigorous re-education.

The upper echelons of the Holy Spirit Church, including the Pope, do not deny the act of fornication among individuals, acknowledging that it can serve to distract, fulfill interests, or provide satisfaction, even if they do not openly express this.

Union Leader of the Magic Association
A gathering of outcasts uninterested in the mundane, the Magic Association is composed of those who study magic. The Union Leader has been at the forefront since its inception, a human who has transcended the boundaries of his race, embodying an extraordinary anomaly. He has shown no interest in the recent resurgence of the Demon Lord, having investigated the phenomenon centuries ago. However, he has chosen to participate in the current discussions surrounding the Demon Lord’s return due to his fascination with Ferno’s monstrous abilities.

He is indifferent to the stigma of being labeled a villain, as he is surrounded by individuals who conduct ethically questionable research, such as human experimentation and biological weaponry. Thus, the idea of tarnishing his reputation by undermining a recognized hero to elevate a new one is of little concern. Conversely, he views the troublesome Sage, Trinica Kianis, as a pest that should be eradicated.

Demon Lord
A being that reincarnates at irregular intervals, the Demon Lord aims to exterminate humanity, spawning the intelligent Demon Race and commanding mindless monsters to form the Demon Lord’s Army for invasion and annihilation. Only the heroes of history have seen the Demon Lord, yet none have documented its appearance, leaving no information about its form in historical records. What is known is that it is a being that continues to live until the moment of its death at the site of its reincarnation, and one glance is enough to recognize it as the source of tragedy.

Demon Lord’s Army
A military force born from the combination of the Demon Race and the mindless monsters they command. The basic structure of the Demon Lord’s Army indiscriminately attacks humanity, slaughtering lives. However, when led by intelligent demons who possess language and power, the army employs various strategies to corner and annihilate humanity. Among them, the executives of the Demon Lord’s Army possess such overwhelming power that they can only be referred to as monsters. Yet, in the present day, there exists a being within the army that instills fear, a monster known as Ferno Desire, who even powerful demons flee from.

Demon Lord’s Army Executives
These are the demons who have attained power second only to the Demon Lord and are born simultaneously with its reincarnation. They serve as commanders of numerous demons and monsters, possessing abilities that defy comprehension—capable of dragging stars from the sky, draining oceans in an instant, stopping time, or causing disasters. The number of these executives varies, ranging from a minimum of three to a maximum of seventy-five with each reincarnation. Regardless of their numbers, only a select few can contend with them; reckless challenges without strategy will only lead to unnecessary destruction. In the current reincarnation, thirteen executives have emerged, nine of whom have already been defeated by Ferno.

Angel
The proxy and messenger of God, the executor of the world’s will. While omnipotent, they are not all-knowing or all-powerful, leading to numerous failures. Broadly speaking, they are a type of humanity, yet they have shed their biological essence to fulfill their role of observing and mediating the world under God’s guidance.

God
An omniscient and omnipotent being, existing solely as such.
