Chapter 110: The Auction Venue
“Good morning!”
The next morning, we left the inn, greeted by Fleur. Unlike when we first arrived in the Commercial City, this time we were in a carriage with a passenger compartment instead of a cargo cart.
By the way, Nil was left behind at the inn. It was only natural that a Tamed Monster wouldn’t be allowed inside the auction venue, and there were no stables for Tamed Monsters at the venue either. I was relieved that Nil was such a well-behaved companion.
“How was the suite?”
“It was amazing!”
“Yes, it was just incredible.”
It seemed that both Rio and I had lost our ability to articulate. It was only natural, though; when staying at an inn, guests don’t have to lift a finger. Honestly, I had underestimated the role of maids. Whenever I thought about wanting tea, it appeared, and when I felt a little hungry, snacks were served. I had no idea how they timed it so perfectly, but it was as if they could read my mind.
Such a comfortable space might not exist anywhere else. Truly, it was the hallmark of a suite with maid service.
“I’m glad to hear that. The auction will be held over three days starting tomorrow, so please feel free to stay with us during that time.”
“Really? Is that alright?”
“Of course.”
I had thought that if we couldn’t find a room, we could always camp outside the city, but it seemed that wouldn’t be necessary, which was a relief.
Thus, we swayed in the carriage as we made our way to the auction venue.
The venue was located just north of the central square. It appeared to be a theater used for performances, and the grand hall could accommodate quite a number of people. Preparations were already underway, and perhaps they were guards for the goods being brought in, as heavily armed individuals were on alert around the area.
Following Fleur into the theater and toward the back of the hall, we arrived at a door that was also heavily guarded.
“I am Fleur of the Rashiyu Trading Company. I’ve come to deliver the items for auction; may I pass through?”
After showing my Guild Certificate hanging around my neck to the guards, they promptly allowed us entry. Although they cast glances our way, we weren’t reprimanded in any way.
“Um, where was the Mithril Section again…?”
“The Mithril Section, you say?”
“Yes. The items that Lord Shu and the others have submitted will mostly be in the Mithril Section. The minimum bid for that section is ten billion Fron.”
“Ten billion?!”
Ten billion, huh? And most of the items, too? That’s insane!
For reference, the minimum bid for the Gold Section is one hundred thousand Fron, and for the Platinum Section, it’s ten million Fron. The auction is structured into three sections accordingly. Over the three days, there will be both morning and afternoon sessions, making a total of six sections. The first three sections will feature the Gold Section until the morning of the second day, the next two sections will be for the Platinum Section until the morning of the third day, and finally, the last session on the afternoon of the third day will be for the Mithril Section.
“Ah, I’ve been waiting for you. Are these the two in question?”
Upon entering the room, we were greeted by a stout man with a gentle smile.
“Chairman of the Trading Company… Yes, these are the two.”
So he’s the Chairman. When he referred to “the two,” he must have meant us. I wondered if he had something to discuss.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Shuu.”
“I’m Rio.”
“Oh, my apologies. I’m Ramond, the Chairman of the Rashiyu Trading Company.”
Thinking back, it made sense that he would be curious about the items we brought in. Fleur had visited the company headquarters yesterday, so perhaps she had discussed something with him.
“Let’s take care of the delivery first.”
“Indeed. I’m quite curious about what you’ve brought.”
The Chairman, with an excited expression, seemed eager to see the rare items. I couldn’t help but think he was simply interested in the unique goods.
Ramond quickly caught a staff member and led us to the appraisal room for the items.
“This is where the appraisal and delivery of items will take place.”
“I see.”
“Please bring them out one by one.”
Following the staff’s prompt, we began to take items out of the Dimensional Box and place them on the table in the room.
“Oh my…”
“Each of these is undoubtedly genuine. They match the items we were informed about.”
The Chairman’s eyes sparkled with interest, while the staff member remained expressionless during the appraisal. Since this staff member was from the Mithril Section, which had a minimum bid of ten billion Fron, they must be accustomed to handling rare items.
However, the fact that each piece of the Earth Dragon’s Magic Stone, heart, blood, and reverse scale was valued at ten billion Fron—what kind of world is this? The fangs and claws were likely in the Platinum Section, but even so, it was astonishing.
“May I also present the items for the Platinum Section now?”
“Yes, that’s fine.”
So, we decided to present all the items we had brought. Honestly, I hadn’t expected the Earth Dragon’s parts to be auctioned off individually. It seemed that selling them piece by piece would fetch a higher price than selling the entire dragon at once.
“Alright, we’ve confirmed everything. Thank you very much.”
“Goodness, I’ve had the privilege of seeing such precious items up close. Thank you.”
After we finished delivering all the items, Ramond expressed his gratitude.
Once the delivery was complete, we exited the room and received our Entry Pass for the auction venue from the staff.
“Tomorrow, we’ll begin with the Gold Section. The items you brought will be auctioned in the afternoon session the day after tomorrow, but feel free to join us starting tomorrow if you’re interested.”
“Understood.”
With our tasks completed, we left the auction venue behind.
