Chapter 232: Epilogue
“It seems you are leaving now.”
As I returned the key to Mesaria-san at the inn’s front desk, she spoke up.
“Yeah. I’ve done everything I needed to do in this town.”
It had been about a week since then. I had received the Orichalcum katana I ordered from the master, and it had been enchanted as well. However, the processing of the Shell of the Sea Emperor Turtle I had requested seemed to be progressing slowly. I had asked them to take their time, and if there were any updates, I had requested a message to be sent to the Fairy Inn.
“To think you could create such a magic tool…”
Mesaria-san cautiously took out the long-distance communication magic tool I had crafted. It was made from Orichalcum, Mithril, and Magic Crystals. Its appearance resembled that of a smartphone. Initially, I struggled with it, but for some reason, once I shaped it like a smartphone, the enchantment succeeded smoothly.
“I don’t know how many branches there are, but just distribute it to the major ones.”
“Understood. If this spreads, it will fundamentally change the information warfare.”
I had confirmed that it could communicate over a distance of about one hundred kilometers. However, I hadn’t tested it beyond that. While traveling, I planned to experiment with Mesaria-san to see how far we could communicate.
“We don’t know the limits of its range yet, so we can’t be sure.”
“However… no, understood. I will arrange for it to be distributed to other major branches.”
She seemed to hesitate, as if she wanted to say something, but held back. If this meant the investigation into rice, soy sauce, and miso would begin, I wouldn’t hold back. In fact, I would give it my all.
“Looking back, it was exciting and fun.”
Rio reflected on her time in this town. Although she had been kidnapped, it seemed to have turned into a good memory.
“The bath was so nice!”
Fonia stretched as far as she could from under the front desk, her head peeking out. When I patted her head, her tail swayed happily.
“Hehe, I’m sorry. In the end, we couldn’t finish the repairs on the room’s open-air bath in time.”
“No, it’s fine! We all got to enjoy the big bath together, so it’s okay!”
“There were many things that happened, but I appreciate your hospitality.”
Ivan was holding his Adamantite spear, looking quite satisfied.
“Woof woof!”
Nil seemed to want to express his satisfaction, but of course, no one else understood him.
“He says it was nice, and he wants to come back again.”
Fonia translated for him.
“Yes, please do come again. We will always be waiting for you.”
I had memorized the coordinates in a corner of the inn’s office so that I could teleport there if anything happened. For now, I could only perform short-distance teleportation, but it was a precaution.
“If we pass nearby, we will definitely stop by. We love hot springs.”
“Also, as soon as you get rice, soy sauce, and miso, let me know. I’ll rush over immediately.”
“Haha, you’ve been saying that a lot lately.”
Ivan chuckled, but there was no helping it. I wanted to eat grilled rice balls and drink miso soup. I had some seaweed on hand, and if I could just get the miso… Oh, but I didn’t have any tofu…
“El is going too.”
“Of course, I’m Rio’s slave and maid, after all.”
Elvirinos shrugged at Laila-san’s words as she came to see us off. Now that I thought about it, she was still wearing the Collar of Subjugation. I didn’t think Rio had developed any resistance to charm yet, so I would need to keep her company for a while longer. By the way, she still didn’t have Subjugation Resistance. All the Collars I had were in a tightened state, so I could only have Rio put one on me through the Dimensional Box. It seemed that the more Magic Power one had, the stronger the effects of Subjugation were, and if Rio put it on me, even a half-hearted resistance wouldn’t mean much.
“Well then, I’m off.”
“Safe travels!”
With the two of them seeing me off, I stepped out of the inn. Looking up at the sky, I could see the blue sky peeking through the valley. Although it was still early in the morning, the sun only shone on this town for a short time during the day.
“Finally, I can go search for the ‘mountain’s bounty’ that was my original goal.”
Ivan muttered, almost complaining, but I had completely forgotten. We had come to the mountainous region to search for the mountain’s bounty and had taken a detour to the hot springs.
“…But between the mountain’s bounty and the hot springs, the hot springs definitely took priority, right?”
Rio tilted her head, resting her hand on her cheek.
“That’s for sure. Coming to Fairy Valley was definitely not just a detour.”
I declared with a serious expression, and Ivan chuckled wryly.
“Haha, well, that’s fine. For now, we just head back the way we came and climb the mountain, right?”
“That seems to be the case. Let’s head to the forested area beyond the mountains.”
According to what Barmy-san had told me, the basin-like forested area was rich in mountain’s bounty. I hoped to find wasabi there. If I could find soy sauce to go with the sashimi, it would be perfect.
“I want to eat delicious food!”
“Woof woof!”
Fonia and Nil seemed to be completely focused on food already. However, since we would be camping for a while, it would still be some time before we could enjoy the mountain’s bounty.
“Haha, it looks like I won’t be bored with you two around.”
Elvirinos also seemed to be looking forward to the journey with a bright smile. And so, we set our course northward, seeking the ingredients yet unseen.
