Growth Rate Skill Maximizer – Chapter 255

Chapter 238: The Welcoming Feast

I was led down the corridor by a butler of the Majin Tribe, who had two pairs of arms. After appraising him, I found that his status was lower than that of the Second Prince. I would need to assess a few more individuals to gauge the overall strength of the Majin Tribe.

“This way, please.”

As he opened the door, he bent his two right arms and gestured for us to enter the room. It was a hall about half the size of a school gymnasium. The promise of a feast was no lie; each table was piled high with an abundance of food. The setup was buffet-style, with chairs and tables pushed to the corners of the hall.

The Second Prince and the captain are here as well.

…It doesn’t seem like there are many strong-looking people, does it?

Haha, I don’t feel like I could win against anyone here.

Everyone is so tall!

From Phonia’s perspective, the others were nearly three times her height. Even in her beast form, she wouldn’t reach their height, and they all towered over us. I was at least twice their height, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they treated me like a child. For now, I should appraise the strongest-looking captain.

I sent the results to everyone except Phonia. As expected of a captain, his stats were quite impressive. However, his luck was abysmally low… I had never seen a single-digit luck stat before. I still didn’t quite understand what the “Luck” stat influenced.

Moreover, there were many unfamiliar spells… No, it wasn’t just spells; there were a plethora of skills. I recalled the god mentioning something about a different skill system, and I was eager to observe it closely. Plant Magic and Spirit Magic? Over there, they even had a four-sword style. With four arms, that made sense. The Mystic Eye also intrigued me. What kind of effect could it have?

Whoa, there are even skills like Skill Copy and Skill Theft?

Huh?

Rio reacted to my unintentional telepathic comment.

Skills can be stolen? …That would be a problem if we couldn’t use them anymore.

Yeah…

I had assumed that skills were something you acquired through practice, but perhaps that wasn’t the case. There were skills for attaching and detaching, or even nullifying, so could they be treated like equipment? Maybe that was what the “difference in skill systems” meant. Still, it didn’t guarantee that they wouldn’t be stolen, so we needed to be cautious.

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting. Let’s skip the formalities and get started right away. Please make yourselves comfortable and help yourselves to whatever you like.”

The captain stepped forward and addressed us. Aside from the Second Prince, there were only a few others present, yet none of them moved to reach for the food.

I approached the table laden with dishes, but… were they really planning to feed us? The food was piled high on a table that was about shoulder height for me. I could only reach the dishes at the front. It seemed that only Ivan could freely eat. Unsurprisingly, from Phonia’s viewpoint, the food on the table was completely out of sight.

“Oh, my apologies. Let me have a stepping stool brought out.”

Noticing our predicament, the captain quickly instructed his subordinate to prepare one.

“Thank you.”

As I expressed my gratitude, Ivan, who didn’t need a stool, picked up a plate and began to browse the food. The dishes were organized by type, ranging from grilled items to soups and salads. There didn’t seem to be any fried food, and while there was bread, it looked rather hard. There were also dishes in unappetizing colors like purple and blue.

And the worst of all…

Don’t eat the leaves with purple edges over there.

Huh?

Oh, you’re right. The Majin Tribe can handle it, but it’s poisonous for us humans.

It seemed Rio had appraised them as well. Perhaps she was now seeing the same things I was.

There might be more dangerous items, so we should be careful.

There were more inedible items mixed in than I had expected. If there weren’t people like us in this world, we would never have known. Thinking back, we had been lucky when we were first summoned to the Otherworld… No, wait, I almost died after eating that strange fruit…

“This is delicious.”

Ivan murmured as he dug into a thick steak. I figured grilled items wouldn’t be too bad.

After a while, the stepping stool was brought in, allowing us to reach a variety of dishes. I grabbed a few items for Phonia, and she began to eat using a fork. I placed a steak on the floor for Nil, who eagerly devoured it.

However, this…

It’s not very tasty, is it?

Yeah.

Right? The only thing that was good was the meat.

I had to admit that the food was far from impressive. This only reinforced my desire to not linger in this world any longer.
