Chapter 311: Achievement Report
“Hello, is this Shu?”
As I was gathering herbs and hunting in the Forest of Enchantment until early afternoon, I received a call from Ivan.
“What’s up?”
“Ah, well… it seems I’ve hunted a bit too many monsters, and I’m not sure what to do now…”
His voice came through the smartphone, sounding rather hesitant.
“If you take a lot to the Guild, you can earn a good number of achievement points, right?”
“That should be the case.”
I recalled the days when I had just become an adventurer. I remembered how I had earned a decent number of achievement points when I submitted a batch of herbs. Surely, the same would apply if he turned in a large number of monsters.
“But did you really hunt that many?”
“Yeah, it seems I stumbled upon a pack.”
“Are you okay now?”
I asked, just to be sure, but as I expected, he confirmed that he had wiped them all out.
“I can’t carry any more, but it feels wasteful. Plus, I want to level up quickly and venture deeper into the Forest of Enchantment.”
“Got it. I’ll come over.”
“Thanks, that helps.”
“Did something happen?”
After I hung up, Rio asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Phonia also furrowed her brow, looking worried.
“Not really. Ivan just said he hunted too many monsters and was wondering what to do.”
“Huh?”
“He wants to take everything back to earn achievement points.”
“Oh, I see.”
When I explained it to Phonia, her eyes lit up with admiration for Ivan. Perhaps she had thought that the “something” he would contact us about was only bad news.
“Well then, shall we head to Ivan’s place now?”
“Okay!”
Hearing Phonia’s cheerful response, I activated Dimensional Magic to connect us to Ivan. As we passed through the tunnel, we found ourselves right in front of him.
“Sorry for making you come all the way here.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
I was curious about what kind of monsters he had caught. If there was some delicious meat among them, I needed to make sure to bring it back.
Looking around, I saw monsters scattered everywhere. They resembled six-legged boars with antlers like a deer.
“But if I collect them, it won’t count as a solo achievement, will it?”
“Ah… that might be true…”
In the end, if Ivan didn’t deliver them to the Guild himself, it wouldn’t be considered a solo quest. Even if I helped with the transport, it was clear how others would perceive it.
Ivan hung his head, but then we heard a sound nearby—two hands clapping together.
“How about we look for a Storage Bag?” Rio suggested, turning to me.
“Oh right, I had forgotten about that item.”
Since we could use the Dimensional Box, we hadn’t thought much about bags, but for Ivan, it would be a very useful item.
“No way, those things are super expensive, right?”
“You don’t have to worry about the price.”
We had accumulated quite a bit of wealth, so it wasn’t a concern for us.
“I don’t think it’s that expensive,” I replied, feeling a bit detached from the value of money.
“That’s what you think! I don’t want to carry something that pricey!”
“Then I guess you’ll just have to slowly accumulate your achievement points.”
“Ugh…”
I could hear Ivan groaning, but that was the inevitable conclusion. If he couldn’t carry everything back, he had no choice but to give up. While it might be faster for me to help him deliver everything at once, I didn’t want to make a daily trip to collect his spoils.
“If something gets stolen, I’ll help you get it back, so don’t worry,” Rio said, smiling reassuringly, and indeed, if we could retrieve it, there wouldn’t be a problem.
“That’s not the issue here…”
Ignoring Ivan’s complaints, I started to think about the Storage Bag. Essentially, it was a bag with a Dimensional Box feature, right? Perhaps I could create one. After all, I had managed to make a smartphone, so this seemed easier than achieving “anywhere” functionality.
For now, though, we needed to focus on collecting the monsters. After gathering everything except one, Rio and I split up to finish the task before heading back to town.
“Alright, see you later. We’ll hold onto the monsters for now, whether we get a Storage Bag or not.”
“Thanks, that helps.”
After we parted ways, we each returned through the gates of the town.
As we teleported near the northern gate, we entered the city. The sun was still high in the sky, so it wasn’t too crowded, allowing us to enter smoothly. We proceeded down the Main Street and entered the Guild, where the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Some were in awe, whispering about the S Rank, while others dismissed us, thinking we were just kids.
Inside the Guild, it seemed to be before the peak hours. There weren’t many people reporting quests, so it didn’t feel overly crowded. As we made our way to the buying counter, people naturally parted to create a path for us. Standing in front of an open counter, I noticed the staff member gulping nervously.
I couldn’t help but wish they would treat us normally, but I understood that the aura of being S Rank came with its own set of expectations.
“I’d like to sell these, please.”
“Y-yes!”
The staff member stood rigidly as I began to pull out one type of quest item at a time. The murmurs grew louder as I produced the items from seemingly nowhere, but as the quantity increased, the noise quieted down.
I started with bundles of herbs, followed by fruits and vegetables, and then small monsters. There was a wide variety of insects, animals, and plant-type monsters, truly showcasing the richness of the Forest of Enchantment.
“Is that everything?”
“Understood!”
The items piled high on the counter were processed one after another. There were no items that would lower their appraisal value, and it seemed everything would be sold at full price.
