Growth Rate Skill Maximizer – Chapter 346

Chapter 324: Experiment

“Master, I have a request.”

El stood up, her expression more serious than usual as she shifted into her maid mode. I couldn’t help but wonder if she had finished all her language drills. It seemed quite challenging for someone who knew nothing of the Japanese language, but she had just greeted me in Japanese a moment ago.

“What is it?”

As I braced myself, Rio, my true master, stepped forward. El also left her place at the table, approached, and knelt down, bowing her head.

“I… want to go to Japan.”

“Huh?”

“Oh, no, that’s not it… I want to study more so I can speak Nihongo better.”

When I asked her to repeat her softly murmured words, she looked up at me, her eyes filled with earnestness. It seemed like she had indeed said she wanted to go, but perhaps that was her true desire.

“I think I’ve learned a few words, but I’m not sure if my pronunciation is correct.”

“Well, yeah. To be honest, what you said earlier was a bit off.”

“I see…”

El’s expression darkened at Rio’s words. Perhaps she had sensed it coming, as she didn’t seem too disheartened. She quickly lifted her gaze, returning to her serious demeanor.

“I want to know more about Nihongo pronunciation. I need an environment where I can hear Nihongo all the time!”

Her tone grew more passionate as she spoke, her excitement palpable.

“It’s necessary for unraveling the mechanisms of the Kaden Seihin!”

She stood up, clenched her right fist, and declared this with determination. Honestly, her fervor was a bit overwhelming.

“Uh, yeah… do your best.”

“Yes! I will do my best! So please, help me!”

She had asked me about this before, but as mere high school students, we had no way of knowing how household appliances worked. All we could say was that they operated on electricity, yet El showed no signs of giving up.

At this point, it seemed the only option was to buy some teaching materials for her to study independently. However, she first needed to learn to read and write in Japanese. Even as high school students, we struggled to grasp it, yet El’s enthusiasm was boundless.

“With a smartphone, you could watch videos…”

I caught a glance from Rio, and I could sense what she was implying. In this world, we were mostly out of range, but with Dimensional Magic, we could connect to Japan and barely receive a signal. If we could get online, she would have access to countless videos in Nihongo. It might be a good opportunity to create a Magic Tool that connects dimensions, just like the smartphone.

“I’ll think about it.”

There was still some time before dinner. I settled into the living room sofa, crossed my arms, and pondered. Seeing me deep in thought, El excitedly expressed her gratitude and cheerfully headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

The smartphone already had Dimensional Magic applied, but it was merely a supplementary feature. This time, I intended to make it the main function, and I figured it could work with a bit of adaptation.

I envisioned a Magic Tool that would create and maintain a rift leading to Japan. When I read messages from Mr. Jinpei, I temporarily opened a rift using magic, but I was considering a way to make it a permanent feature.

“Hmm… it would definitely be more convenient if we could connect anywhere in the house…”

“That’s true, but… hey, wouldn’t it be great if we could set up Wi-Fi?”

“Now that you mention it, that could work. If we could cover the entire house with it… but how would we do that?”

I recalled that Wi-Fi existed in Japan, so it was likely available in that Japan as well. I wondered if we would need an additional contract. It certainly seemed more convenient to place the Wi-Fi equipment here rather than relying on the signal leaking through the rift.

“Let’s ask Mr. Jinpei about it.”

“Yeah, good idea. For now, let’s experiment to see if we can pull in a cable.”

If we could pull in a cable, it would mean we could access not just the internet but electricity as well. We wouldn’t need a large mobile battery, and it would open up many possibilities.

“Alright, let’s start by trying with a rope.”

“Okay.”

I took out a rope and promptly opened a rift, walking through to the other side. Of course, Rio was holding onto the other end.

“I’ve arrived.”

As I stepped onto the balcony of the apartment building in Japan, I used Telepathic Communication to inform her that I was stopping the maintenance of the rift. Suddenly, I felt the rope being tugged.

“It seems like we’re still connected.”

“Yeah. I thought it would close immediately, but it’s holding up better than expected.”

Usually, I would close the rift as soon as I crossed over, but this time, I had simply released control, so the rift remained open.

“But it looks like it’s getting smaller little by little.”

“Indeed.”

Within a few minutes, the rift shrank from large enough for a person to walk through to a size where I had to crouch slightly.

“Oh, it’s about to—”

After a little while longer, the rift suddenly shrank rapidly, and the rope we were both holding onto snapped. Along with it, Telepathic Communication was cut off.

I felt a bit panicked, but it was to be expected. After all, Telepathic Communication couldn’t cross dimensions.

“—can you hear me? Shuu, do you hear me?”

“Huh?”

Just as I was about to open the rift again, I received a Telepathic message. I instinctively let out a sound of surprise but quickly switched to Telepathic Communication.

“Ah, ah, I can hear you. Can you hear my voice?”

Once connected, tracing the other person was easy.

“I can hear you! Thank goodness, we’re connected!”

I could feel the dimensional attribute in the Telepathic Communication. As expected, Rio was stronger when it came to magic.

“Alright, let’s try with Mithril next.”

“Understood.”

Choosing Mithril, which had a high affinity for Magic Power, I opened a rift to connect with Rio in the Otherworld.
